Tineco A11 vs Dyson V15

Tineco A11 vs. Dyson V15 Detect

Posted on May 5, 2022May 6, 2022 by admin

In this comparison, we will look at two different wireless rod vacuum cleaners in different price ranges, the Tineco A11 Master and the Dyson V15 Detect.

This article is a continuation of my series on Tineco and Dyson vacuum cleaners.

The A11 Master is an affordable variant of Tineco and one of the most powerful wireless vacuum cleaners in its price category.

The V15 Detect is Dyson’s premium choice with all the latest features at its disposal.

Now I would be the first to admit that this is not a comparison of apples to apples, but these products are worth comparing because the cleaning performance is not far away.

Introducing the Tineco A11 and Dyson V15 Detect

Tineco A11 vs. Dyson V15

Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners are among the most popular brands in the industry, while Tineco is trying to challenge them by offering a cheaper alternative to the premium Dyson price tag.

One of his favorite options is Tineco A11which surprisingly surpassed the Dyson V8 in my surface debris tests.

Now I’ll compare it to Dyson V15 Detect flagship.

It doesn’t have to be a comparison of apples and apples and I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s an interesting comparison of how Tineco’s mid-priced compared to high-end Dyson.

Value for money: Tineco A11 Master

Tienco A11

Professionals

  • Cheaper than Dyson V8 and V15 Detect
  • Excellent capture of surface impurities
  • Two removable batteries out of the box
  • Decent volume of dust
  • Lightweight design

Disadvantages

  • Leakage during fog test
  • It’s not as good as Dyson with deep carpet cleaning
  • Below average driving

The A11 Master is one of Tineco’s mid-priced options and this variant is full of accessories (14 in total).

Tineco A11 tools

This feature in itself adds great value to A11. These extensions provide excellent reach to the tight spaces behind the head of the bed or above the floors.

Comes with two cleaning heads (soft roller and standard) for efficient cleaning hard floor cleaning and carpets.

And it’s one of the best for collecting surface contaminants, with better results than the Dyson V8 Absolute (at least in my tests).

Two removable batteries provide extended operating time (up to 50 minutes).

In addition, the wall dock charges these batteries simultaneously, minimizing downtime.

However, the V15 has a better range on a battery with more linear power than the A11.

However, the A11 Master is much cheaper and offers consumers a cost-effective alternative to Dyson for consumers who are unwilling to spend the premium.

Top performance, premium price: Dyson V15 Detect

Dyson V15 Detect

Professionals

  • Excellent cleaning performance on the surface and settled dirt
  • Extended run time (over 80 minutes)
  • The green laser detects almost invisible dust particles
  • Large trash can
  • Great for cleaning long hair

Disadvantages

  • Very, very expensive
  • Upper heavy (not as ergonomic as a handheld)

The V15 Detect is Dyson’s flagship and currently the most powerful wireless vacuum cleaner I’ve tested in vacuuming.

It is the most powerful Dyson wireless cable that overshadows the 70 CFM brand (in my tests).

This variant also has its latest cordless vacuum technology, such as a green laser and a piezo sensor.

The green laser amplifies almost invisible dust better than any wireless vacuum cleaner equipped with LEDs I have tested.

Dyson V15 green light reveals dust particles

You can see that these dust particles are bursting with a green flashing laser.

Tineco products do not have this type of visibility.

I use the Dyson V15 extensively to vacuum household chores, and this feature helps me pinpoint contaminated areas, even in low light conditions.

Another noteworthy feature is the piezo sensor, which connects to the LCD screen behind the motor.

The size of the Dyson V15 fragments on the LCD screen

Displays data on different fragment sizes, color-coded for your convenience.

  1. Yellow: Allergens
  2. Orange: Microscopic dust
  3. Pink: Dust mites
  4. Purple: Sugar and fleas

This information may be useful for some consumers who want to track how many mites they can capture, but I find the green laser more useful.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

The V15 is Dyson’s most powerful bar vacuum cleaner for cleaning long strands of hair, thanks to upgrades with a standard brush roller and a mini turbo brush.

Combs have been added to its primary nozzle to help untangle strands of hair.

And its mini turbo brush is completely redesigned and introduces a beveled design to direct the hair towards the catch area and into the trash can.

However, the biggest obstacle for consumers is price. The V15 Detect is one of the more expensive cordless vacuum cleaners available.

Similarities between Tineco A11 and Dyson V15 Detect

Next we will look at the similarities between these vacuum cleaners and start with the design framework.

1. Design Framework

Tineco A11 vs Dyson V15 frame

Both products use a tried and tested cordless vacuum cleaner with motor and dustbin at the top, as well as interchangeable tools.

Dyson V15 and Tineco A11 use traditional rod vacuum constructions.

This framework provides these products with versatility and portability that is not possible with a vertical vacuum.

Thanks to the exchangeable tools, consumers can use these vacuum cleaners as rod or hand-held.

2. Removable batteries

Another similarity is the removable Li-ion batteries, which is a huge problem as it helps consumers replace the battery or extend the operating time by purchasing accessories.

Earlier variants of Dyson do not have this feature, but have begun to implement it in V11 Torque Drive and Outsize models.

However, the Tineco A11 Master comes with two batteries unpacked, while the V15 Detect variant only had one.

3. Two cleaning nozzles

Tineco A11 vs Dyson V15 nozzle comparison

Tineco A11 Master and Dyson V15 Detect have two cleaning nozzles for vacuuming hard floors and carpets.

These tools are effective for your specific tasks and why these products are popular.

Differences between Tineco A11 and Dyson V15 Detect

The Tineco A11 and Dyson V15 perfectly represent how these brands differ.

Dyson is constantly pushing the boundaries of technology, and Tineco is less aggressive with product updates.

I’ll start by designing a trash can.

1. Size and volume of the bin

One of the significant differences is the size and alignment of the trash.

Tineco uses a more traditional design with a vertically oriented trash can that is lighter.

However, this design limits capacity and the A11 can hold only 0.6 liters of waste.

Since the launch of the V10, Dyson has changed the trash can, which is aligned horizontally.

This change helped improve airflow efficiency and allowed Dyson to expand the capacity of the bin to 0.77 liters.

It’s not a big difference, but it’s still an improvement over the small A11.

Another difference is that the V15 has a hygiene system, while the A11 does not.

Dyson V15 hygiene system

It’s one of my favorite Dyson features because it helps push dirt down so you don’t have to use your hands.

Tineco relies on sliding doors without a mechanical way of pushing dirt, only gravity.

Empty waste bin Tineco A11

2. Accessories and tools

The tools after unpacking will vary depending on the variant.

The Tineco A11.

will have these tools.

Tineco A11 tools

  1. LED multi-purpose power brush
  2. LED Soft roller electric brush
  3. Mini electric brush
  4. Slotted tool
  5. 2in1 dust brush
  6. Flexible tool for long slots
  7. Multi-angle adapter
  8. Flexible extension hose
  9. Dual charging powerhouse / dock
  10. Extra Li-ion battery
  11. Tool for automatic pre-filter cleaning
  12. Soft dust brush
  13. Extension wand

A V15 Detect.

Dyson V15 tools

  1. High torque cleaning head
  2. Narrow roller attachment
  3. Dock for wall mounting
  4. Extension tube
  5. Slotted tool
  6. Hair screwing tool
  7. Wand clip
  8. Flexible extension hose
  9. Soft dust brush
  10. Combination tool
  11. Charger

Tineco has more tools and offers better reach, but Dyson has better cleaning tools offering excellent performance, especially on hair.

3. Weight and ergonomics

Newer Dyson cordless vacuum cleaners have become larger due to the larger engine and battery.

The disadvantage of this increase in performance and running time is the increased weight, which damages its ergonomics.

The Tineco A11 is a lighter version (5.5 vs. 6.8 lb.) and on paper it’s more than the difference of one plus the pound.

Dyson feels much heavier, especially in manual vertical cleaning mode.

4. Battery capacity and running time

Yes, both options have removable batteries, but the V15 Detect uses a larger battery (3600 vs. 2000 mAh).

Dyson batteries are manufactured in-house and they have managed to push the boundaries and, thanks to the thin roller attachment, extend the operating time beyond 80 minutes!

This range negates the advantage of two A11 batteries, as it lasts only 26 minutes with the power tool and 25 minutes with the nozzle.

5. Filtration

Finally, and perhaps one overlooked aspect of cordless vacuum cleaners is filtration.

I used a fogger to check every wireless vacuum cleaner I tested to see if the fog remained inside the trash or not.

The HEPA filter is often not enough to keep dirt inside.

A good seal is just as essential to ensure that contaminants do not penetrate the slots in the vacuum cleaner.

The Dyson V15 has a sealed system that did not leak during the fog test, while the Tineco A11 has visible leaks, although not as bad as the A10.

6. Filter

Another deviation from the previous point is the design of the filter.

Tineco A11 vs. Dyson V15

The Dyson V15 has one fuse filter in front of and behind the engine, while the Tineco A11 has two separate filters

7. Trigger

The last option I will highlight is the trigger mechanism.

Yes, both brands use a trigger switch, but only the A11 has a mechanical trigger lock that keeps it in the on position, so there is no need to press manually.

Tineco A11 trigger

Dyson does not have this feature and consumers will have to keep pushing it.

Dyson V15 trigger

Ergonomic comparison

The Dyson V15 Detect is visibly more vacuum and weighs more than the Tineco A11, which is more compact.

It’s not a big deal (at least for me) for cleaning hard floors, but consumers will feel the added weight on the carpet because the high torque nozzle is bulkier and the carpet has more friction.

The Tineco A11 feels much lighter in stick and hand mode.

However, it does not drive as sharply as Dyson, its angular steering mechanism rotates only from side to side.

However, the lighter A11 frame makes it a better choice than the V15 in this category.

However, the Dyson trigger response is almost instantaneous, while Tineco has a noticeable delay.

Interface comparison

The Dyson interface has become more sophisticated over the years.

It started with the V11, where Dyson introduced real-time battery status (how much time is left) and easy-to-read error messages.

In V15, the Piezo reading was introduced, which shows a color-coded graph.

Dyson V15 LCD close up

It keeps the running time under it so consumers will know how much time is left to recharge.

The A11 interface is simpler. There is also an LCD screen and digital reading.

Consumers will need to rely on these three LEDs on the battery to check its condition.

Comparison of battery and operating time

The Tineco A11 and Dyson V15 Detect use removable batteries that make it easier for consumers to extend or replace their operating time.

But Dyson batteries are larger (higher milliamperes) than Tineco and last longer on one battery.

The maximum running time of the Dyson V15 is more than 80 minutes using a thin cylinderwhile A11 is shorter in 50 minutes from two batteries.

The advantage of Tineco is that its wall dock can charge two batteries at the same time!

If cleaning a larger house is a priority, V15 Detect is a better choice.

Air flow comparison

Next we look at the air flow, where I used an anemometer to check how much air flows through the nozzle and tube.

Since brands of cordless vacuum cleaners do not have a universal way of publishing power, it is a good idea to consider airflow.

Vacuum cleaners with a higher air flow tend to clean carpets (surface and inserted) better.

Here are the results for Tineco A11 and Dyson V15 Detect.

There is not much difference in the lower setting, but the variance in the maximum setting is huge!

With a wand, it’s over 22% and with an nozzle an incredible 53%.

In addition, the V15 has a medium setting that represents the best balance between suction and range.

Tineco does not have a medium setting and consumers rely heavily on maximum setting for deep carpet cleaning.

It’s not a good recipe for battery life, which we’ll talk about in the next section.

Cleaning comparison

The Tineco A11 and Dyson V15 Detect are excellent at capturing surface contaminants, but what separates them is the excellent deep cleaning performance of the V15.

Let’s look at the score.

Tineco and Dyson did exceptionally well with surface impurities and chose a very high percentage.

It’s one of the biggest surprises for me when testing these products, and it makes Tineco a compelling choice.

But these scores only plot one page of the story.

Despite an impressive pick-up, Tineco lags behind deep cleaning (more later) and can’t maintain its performance for long.

What’s better for hard floors?

For these vacuum cleaners, it’s pitching. Consumers can’t make a mistake with either variant.

They both did well in the hard floor sand test, which is my barometer performance on the hard floor.

Here is a picture before and after for the Dyson V15.

Dyson V15 sand on a hard floor

A Tineco A11.

Tineco A11 hard floor sand test

These photos show that the A11 and V15 will effectively pick up sand on this surface.

This should not be the deciding factor, but management and other features.

The thin V15 has smoother (and sharper) steering and the green laser is better for dust tracking.

Tinec’s steering is smooth, but it lacks a turning radius – it won’t turn as sharply.

Edge cleaning comparison

These rod vacuum cleaners clean the edges well. But again, performance should not be the deciding factor.

Here’s a look at the V15 before and after the shots.

Dyson V15 edge cleaning

A A11.

Tineco A11 soft roller edge cleaning test

For the A11 test, I used pet bedding instead of coffee grounds, which are harder to clean.

It shows Tineco’s ability to clean difficult dirt well.

Consumers should consider other aspects, in particular governance.

The V15 Detect control is sharper than the A11, which affects how you clean tight spots.

Comparison of hair wraps (on hard floors)

Next, let’s look at how well these vacuum cleaners capture hair to be more specific about how everyone resists tangles.

I tested both on different lengths of hair strands between five and twelve inches.

The Dyson V15 performed better overall, especially with longer springs.

Dyson V15 hair wrap on a hard floor

  • 5 inches: 100% inside the basket; 0% on a brush
  • 7 inches: 100% inside the basket; 0% on a brush
  • 9 inches: 100% inside the basket; 0% on a brush
  • 11 inches: 100% inside the basket; 0% on a brush
  • 12 inch: 80.6% inside the basket; 19.4% on a brush

It resisted tangles of hair up to eleven inches, but the limit is twelve inches with some strands on the roller and axis.

Dyson V15 hair on a remedy after a 12-inch test

The A11 was successful with only five, seven, and nine-inch springs, but the 11-inch test showed a hair wrap, so I didn’t proceed.

Tineco A11 hair wrap for hard floors

  • 5 inches: 100% inside the basket; 0% on a brush
  • 7 inches: 100% inside the basket; 0% on a brush
  • 9 inches: 100% inside the basket; 0% on a brush
  • 11 inches: 40% inside the basket; 60% on a brush

Dyson’s higher airflow may have played a role in why it did better, as neither brand has an active anti-tangle system (at least for their soft roller attachments).

What’s better about carpets?

The Dyson V15 Detect and Tineco A11 did well in vacuuming surface contaminants, so budget-conscious customers can use Tineco if they don’t want to spend a premium.

However, what separates these products is the deep cleansing effect.

The V15 Detect captured 100% using the maximum and automatic (or medium) settings, while A11 raised 96.45% in setting max.

Another factor would be hair gain, which we will look at in the next section.

Comparison of hair wraps (on carpets)

I did the same test for both carpet vacuums (five, seven, nine, eleven and twelve inch springs).

Again, the Dyson V15 was better, with almost no springs wrapped on a brush roller.

Dyson V15 hair wrap on the carpet

  • 5-inch springs: 100% inner compartment; 0% on a brush
  • 7-inch springs: 100% inner compartment; 0% on a brush
  • 9-inch springs: 100% inner compartment; 0% on a brush
  • 11-inch springs: 99% inner compartment; 1% on a brush
  • 12-inch springs: 98% inner compartment; 2% on a brush

The combs and reworked brush did their job unwinding the long strands of hair, and the high airflow helped pick up more.

A11 was not so good, with hair on each test.

Tineco A11 hair wrap on the carpet

  • 5-inch springs: 95% inner compartment; 5% on a brush
  • 7-inch springs: 72% inner compartment; 28% on a brush
  • 9-inch springs: 59% inner compartment; 41% on a brush

So much hair is wound on the brush because it lacks combs and lower airflow.

Dustbin and filter comparison

The Dyson V15 bin is larger than the A11 with a capacity of 0.77 liters compared to 0.6 liters from Tineco.

One of the advantages of the V15 is that it has a hygienic system where there is a mechanism for pushing the dirt downwards.

Tineco does not have this function and relies heavily on gravity to eliminate impurities.

The problem with both is that long strands of hair stick to the middle filter.

Dyson V15 removes long strands of hair with your hands

Regardless, I would recommend the V15 for pet owners because it better resists tangling on hard floors, carpets and even upholstery using the torq screw tool.

Another advantage of the V15 Detect is that it has a fully sealed system, which means that the fog did not escape during the test.

Dyson V15 fog test

The seals around the dustbin and filter were strong enough to prevent mist from escaping, while Tineco was not completely sealed and leaks were visible.

Tineco A11 fog test

But Tineco improved with the seals because the A11 didn’t leak as badly as the A10.

Noise comparison

I use a sound level meter to measure the noise level of these vacuum cleaners from a close distance.

One of the disadvantages of cordless vacuum cleaners with high airflow is the increased noise level, which you will see in the table below.

Surprisingly, the Dyson V15 was (slightly) less noisy at low and medium settings, but noticeably louder at max.

I didn’t expect the A11 to be noisier because it has a lower airflow, but the results say something else.

Tineco improved the noise reduction with the Pure One S12 as it was less noisy than V15 and A11.

Maintenance comparison

Both cordless vacuum cleaners need maintenance to work best. I list the components you need to clean and the (recommended) intervals.

  1. Brush roller: The most abused part of a wireless vacuum cleaner is the nozzle. Hair, dust and other dirt accumulate on the surface and axles. Therefore, be sure to clean both (soft roller and standard brush roller) at least once a week to avoid unnecessary friction.
  2. Bin: Empty the dustbin after each cleaning to prevent mites from multiplying.
  3. Filter: Wash the filter under cold running tap water and shake gently with a brush to loosen dust and other dirt. Tineco’s filter cleaning tool is a new concept, but it doesn’t work as advertised.
  4. Other tools: Use a microfiber cloth to wipe off dust and deposits on various tools as part of their routine maintenance.
  5. Battery: Avoid using the maximum settings only, as this will shorten battery life and keep them fully charged.

Which option offers better value?

The steep price difference makes the Tineco A11 a better alternative, but the V15 Detect would be a better choice in the specific situations I list below.

I want to emphasize that cleaning performance should not be a deciding factor, because both will capture surface dirt well.

But V15 is better at cleaning dirt on the carpet, and in addition, its hair trapping is better than A11.

5 reasons to choose Dyson V15 Detect

  1. Extended run time: This bar vacuum cleaner will run for more than 80 minutes with a slim roller attachment.
  2. Great hair gain: He picked up more long fibers than the A11. The rotating screw tool is light years ahead of the standard Tineco mini-turbo brush, especially on long springs.
  3. Better deep cleaning: Thanks to the improved airflow and battery, the V15 is a better choice for deep carpet cleaning.
  4. It tracks almost invisible dust: The green laser of the thin roller tracks dust better than any LED-equipped bar vacuum cleaner I’ve tested.
  5. Fully sealed trash can: The V15 bin did not leak during the fog test.

4 reasons to choose Tineco A11

  1. Much cheaper than the Dyson V15: The price difference between A11 and V15 is significant. You can buy two or three A11s for the price of one Dyson.
  2. Excellent capture of surface impurities: Surface sensor A11 is close to V15 and should not be an obstacle.
  3. Lots of tools: Tineco products come with many tools and will have more than V15 depending on the variant.
  4. Light variant: The A11 has better ergonomics because it is much lighter.

Verdict: Tineco is surprisingly good, but Dyson is better for specific situations

The Tineco A11 is a compelling choice because it is much cheaper than the Dyson V15.

One surprising feature is the cleaning power of the A11. It is very close to V15 when vacuuming surface dirt.

This should not be an obstacle between the two products.

However, Dyson V15 is much better at cleaning impurities and long strands of hair.

And it has been doing its job for longer than the Tineco A11.
