Over the past few months, I’ve written a lot about Shark straight brooms. Some have a “Lift Away” feature that turns these rolls into cylinder brooms.
Little did I know that Shark also had a drum broom that also had the same “Lift-Away” feature.
NR96 electric hoist is The can only in the Shark product line.
It’s great for small to medium sized homes that put a premium on versatility and space.
If your home has carpeting, you should shortlist it because it has a motorized brush.
The “hypoallergenic” full seal technology makes this a great choice for people with asthma.
It has a fully interchangeable toolkit that makes it as versatile as a file Dyson V8 But Much cheaper.
The 23-foot power cord is longer than a regular enclosure, so you’ll be able to use it in larger homes on the border.
Scroll down to see features, performance, and more information that will help you learn more about this product.

What do you expect from this shark cylinder broom?
Two things that make this product stand out – Lightweight And multi-use.
The Electric Shark Lifting Mechanism It has some neat features not found in other cases.
Yes, even a Dyson. This is true and there is no need for that Pay $400 for this.
Remember that the product you see in the video is a production model, only a prototype. But based on what I’ve seen, this case has a lot of good stuff in store.
What I love about Shark vacuums is the “lift” that separates the body from the case where the wheels are.
This removes the extra foundations from the already lightweight frame and makes it more portable.
Older people will appreciate how light this product is and how easy it is to move up and down stairs.
With the case on this it weighs just over 10 lbs. Without it, it would be under 10 pounds.
According to Shark pod it weighs about 8 pounds so it’s really easy to move around.
You don’t have this feature on Dyson and a big reason why I love this brand.
In total, the NR96 has 5 attachments with a fully adjustable extension wand.
These attachments include:
- dust broom
- Small power brush for pets
- straight suction nozzle
- 5 inch crevice tool
- Main automatic cleaning nozzle
These tools can be used on a stick or handle which gives them a lot of flexibility.
The small pet brush doesn’t have its own motor but just relies on the hair to spin the brush, so it won’t be effective at picking up pet hair.
But the main cleaning nozzle has its own motor, and the stirring is very good. And since you can attach it directly to the handle, cleaning stairs won’t be a problem.
In typical Shark style, the NR96’s dirt container has a cyclone filtration system that helps the filter last longer. It won’t match the Dyson in terms of efficiency, so you’ll have to clean the filters a lot.
Storing some of these tools is not a problem thanks to the internal storage located under the dirt bin. But it will only store the brush and crevice tool. You will have to store the rest of the tools in a separate storage bag also provided by Shark.
The main floor nozzle has LED headlights that help you track dust and pet hair in low-light areas under furniture.
advanced rotary steering
It also comes with a swivel steering that makes it easy to maneuver around the furniture.
To go from carpet to hard floor, Shark added fingertip controls on the handle so you don’t have to bend over just to turn the brush on or off.
Wire wrap and length
Like most cases, the NR96 has a wire winding. And the 23-foot power cord is too generous for a vacuum cleaner.
Pet owners looking for a versatile canister should have this on their shortlist because it contains what Shark calls “Hypoallergenic Full Seal Technology” that blocks out allergens down to 0.3 microns.
The HEPA filter is located in the back of the engine…
Will not prevent fine dirt such as a file vacuum filled But 0.3 micron is very good. To put that into perspective, a Dyson filter will block about 0.5 microns.
Since this is a file bagless vacuum There is still exposure to dust and allergens. If you suffer from some type of allergy or are very sensitive to dust, use a packaged package such as a Bissell Zing or Miele Compact C1.
You can use this broom on both hard floors and carpets as it has an on/off brush roll function.
The fingertip controls I mentioned earlier will make it so easy to operate that moving from one surface to another is not a hassle.
Watch this video to see how this vacuum cleaner works on the carpet…
For the cleaning test, spread a good amount of oats and delight.
After a few passes, I was able to pick up most of the scattered debris.
Don’t expect this to be a deep cleaning tool like a vertical one but it makes for an everyday cleaning tool that prevents dirt buildup.
If a cordless vacuum cleaner is very limited inside your home, this is a good alternative though, with a cord.
On hard floors, it will work decently because it has good suction. The lack of a clean head for the duo somewhat limits its ability and it won’t do a good job of cutting through the big dirt. It has a funnel in the middle of the main crater to larger piles of dirt but expect some snowfall.
This canister may have too much power for light carpet cleaning. But it has suction control so you can reduce the suction to allow it to clean.
It also comes with a small turbo brush that allows it to clean upholstery. However, this tool does not have its own motor to drive the brush, so stirring will not be good. Also, it does not rotate, so it will be difficult to move it back and forth.
Shark backs this up with a 5-year warranty when purchased new. Used units will have a shorter warranty

What do consumers say
Consumers really liked how this vacuum performed. They said it had very good power and performed really well on carpets and hard floors.
Ergonomics is also a strong point with both power and cord buttons on the chassis for easy access.
Fingertip controls on the handle make it easy to turn the brush roller on or off.
The Lift Away feature is a nice addition because it frees up weight from the case. Without the case, the body weight is around 8 pounds but some consumers still find it too heavy.
Interchangeable tools make this machine versatile. The build quality is excellent with all tools locked securely when attached to a ‘click’.
Pet owners love this broom even if it’s noisy because it keeps their floors clean. But the long hair will wrap around the brush. It has deep grooves on the brush barrel to help you cut hair.
The small brush does not perform as well as the main cleaning head because it does not have any motor. Filters also clog very quickly and will need to be cleaned often.
It also has a narrower cleaning path (according to some consumers) compared to Dyson and Hoover. So it will take more passes to clean the same area.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy this vacuum cleaner for Just under $240 at Amazon It qualifies for free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.
Amazon also offers extended warranties of up to 3 years if you think a 5 year warranty isn’t enough.
This product is great in small to medium sized homes thanks to its compact design and versatility. The “Lift” feature reduces the weight by a few pounds and makes it more usable on areas such as stairs.
It has an 1150W motor that works well on both carpets and Solid ground. Upholstery cleaning shouldn’t be a problem with your pet’s turbo attachment. But it lacks a motor, so stirring will be a problem and it won’t clean deeply either.
You can only buy this user Just over $200 or spend about $300 For a brand new unit. It’s still cheaper than a Dyson can but it still has a motorized main cleaning head which makes it a better option on carpets.

The Shark Rotator Powered Lift Away NR96 is a good alternative to the Dyson Canister vacuum that costs hundreds more. One advantage this broom has is that it has a motorized brush, so it will work better on carpets. Unfortunately, Shark no longer manufactures this product because it is more concentrated with vertical and suction cups that have the same functions as this vacuum cleaner.
