A lot of the upright vacuums I’ve reviewed weigh at least 15lbs and can be a chore to move around due to their weight.
NV105 is the lightest in Shark’s Navigator Product LineWeighing in at only 10.6 lbs.
This is not a cordless but a corded vacuum cleaner with a 25ft power cord and 700W motor. Good enough for cleaning small and medium sized homes.
Lightweight Upright Shark Broom
Shark Navigator NV105 Review
Most straight brooms weigh between 15 and 20 pounds which can be a problem if you have a bad back. The The Shark Navigator NV105 is a lightweight alternative at just 10.6 lbs For people who are looking for something more compact that is easier to carry a set of stairs. It won’t be as powerful as the larger Shark upright vacuums, but it’s a perfect fit for smaller homes with a lot of carpet. And even if this broom is considered lightweight, it still holds a lot of dirt thanks to its 1.8L dry capacity. What this product offers is an affordable, stand-alone option that cleans floors that are easy to vacuum.
If you’re looking for straight-line performance minus the heavyweight, go for Look at NV105.

What do you expect from the Shark Navigator NV105?
To make this void lighter, they had to shrink the entire void. So expect a narrower cleaning path (about 9.25 inches) and a smaller dirt cup.
The smaller dust cup (about 1.8 dry liters) and shorter power cord make this appliance a better fit for small to medium sized homes. But the power is still there thanks to the 700W motor.
Floor cleaning tools
The Shark Navigator is also capable of cleaning above-ground areas thanks to the flexible hose and attachments.
Comes with 2-in-1 crevice/brush tool and upholstery/pet tool. Both are capable of cleaning different types of upholstery.
But access will not be good due to the short hose.
The power cord is 25 feet long and does not come with a cord twist capability.
There are two main filters on top of the dust cup, a foam filter, a felt filter and a post-engine filter (non-HEPA filter).
Here’s how to get there and how to empty the dirt cup.
Filters wear out over time because they are made of foam. Fortunately, replacement filters are available on Amazon, so there is no problem with these parts if they are damaged.
If you are planning to buy a filter, I would suggest using the kits available online as they contain all the filters in the NV105 which includes a HEPA filter which needs to be changed every 2-3 months to maintain performance.
The NV105 comes with a 3-year Euro-pro warranty.
bare floor performance
You can use this on both bare floors and carpets because the brush roller can be turned on and off.
Since the nozzle has a low clearance, expect this to have a plowing effect when you run it over larger debris like cracked crackers or coffee beans, so you may have to use a stick for that but otherwise it will pick up the debris pretty well.
It is equipped with a motorized brush so deep cleaning of carpets should not be a problem. Remember, it has a narrower cleaning path compared to its larger cousins, so you’ll need more clearances to clean a larger room but suction shouldn’t be an issue with that. But the good news is that a narrower head will go in areas where a head can’t be larger, so it can also be an advantage.
Also, it doesn’t have swivel steering, so maneuverability suffers a bit but it weighs less than most other rolls, so this makes up for it.
Cleaning upholstery with the NV105 shouldn’t be a problem as it comes with an upholstery tool that should be able to pick up tough dirt on your fabric upholstery.
For leather upholstery, you can use the combination crevice/brush tool to pick up loose dirt and dust.
For above-floor cleaning, you can attach these tools to an extension wand or handle them as such.
Pet hair removal
With the motorized brush and pet hair attachment, this vacuum cleaner is able to do just that Pet hair cleaning On carpets and upholstery.
Consumers have also validated this by praising how the NV105 handles pet hair.

What do consumers say?
Since this is a relatively new product, there aren’t many reviews (less than 20 so far).
And from what I’ve read, most consumers loved how this lightweight standing posture performed on their floors whether it was a bare floor or carpet.
They loved it because even if it weighed just over 10 pounds, it still had very good cleaning power—enough for a medium-sized home with carpeting and hardwood (or any other bare floor surface).
You may struggle for larger homes due to the narrow cleaning path and smaller dirt cup.
People with back problems will benefit from this lightweight and so will people who are concerned about storage space. Since it is not as huge as a file Full size vacuum cleanerYou don’t need to allocate a lot of space to store this.
Yes, there have been complaints about poor suction but that could be a result of poor maintenance. Shark provides instructions to consumers on how to remove blockages from hoses.
Does Shark Navigator NV105 Offer Good Value?
The NV105 is one of the cheapest Shark upright vacuums currently available. And while it doesn’t have the high-end features of the newer Navigator series vacuum cleaners, it brings a lot more to the table.
The price is clearly one of the biggest selling points of this vacuum. Not many options in this price range offer the performance that the NV105 does particularly on carpets.
If you live in a home with a lot of it, this budget should be on your watch list.
There are some quality issues as I have read in the reviews, so due diligence is needed when it comes to maintenance. But this is a common problem in budget voids, so this is to be expected.
Verdict: Who Should Buy the Shark Navigator NV105?
The Shark NV05 is an excellent choice for people who are looking for an inexpensive vacuum cleaner capable of cleaning carpets.
However, it lacks the premium features of the newer Navigator series vacuum cleaners, but the low price makes up for the lack of usability.
A removable hose gives this broom the ability to clean upholstery and stairs to an extent, but it won’t match Shark’s Lift Away brooms in terms of reach.
This vacuum cleaner has its limitations such as not having a Duo Clean feature so don’t buy this if you plan on cleaning hard floors. The lack of a swivel hinders its maneuverability but the lightweight design makes up for it.
4 reasons to consider Shark Navigator NV105
- Inexpensive vertical option: Very few upright vacuums in this price range bring the kind of performance the NV105 brings to the table.
- Great for carpet cleaning: The stiff bristles on the brush as well as the vibration make this an excellent carpet cleaning option.
- Lightweight and compact: This vertical position weighs only 10.6 pounds, which is the same weight as other cordless vacuum cleaners like Hoover Linux Stick Vacuum Cleaner.
- Decent dirt capacity: No, it won’t hold as much dirt as its bigger siblings like the Shark APEX, but for the price, the 1.8L dry-fit is suitable even for mid-sized homes.

The Shark NV105 is an excellent choice for people who are looking for a lightweight vacuum cleaner capable of cleaning floors. Since this model does not have a Duo Clean head, it is more suitable for cleaning carpet floors. However, this upright doesn’t have the bells and whistles like the newer Navigator series blanks do, so don’t expect a lot of variety. But for the price, it’s a bargain, in my opinion.
