When you talk about high-tech vacuums, what’s the first brand that comes to mind?
I bet it would be Dyson with its futuristic design and crazy color combinations.
But let me introduce you to another brand that does not seem wild but has very advanced features that are not found in the other lists.
The most advanced vacuum packed
Sebo calls this the most technologically advanced upright vacuum cleaner on the market today thanks to its electronically controlled height adjustment feature that automatically adjusts the height of the brush on carpet or bare floors.
People with asthma (or a similar condition) will benefit most from this because of the excellent filtration it provides.
Great cleaning performance
Another feature I love is the sealing bar behind the motorized brush which improves airflow and makes sure all dirt gets into the suction port. It also prevents debris from “rebounding” from the bristles.
While other filled menus don’t have an indicator that tells you when the bag is full, this feature will also automatically shut off the vacuum drive.
These huge bags are capable of storing about 1.4 gallons of dust and allergens – great for larger homes looking for a deep cleaning machine.
This machine is by no means cheap. At nearly $900, this is probably one of the most expensive vertical brooms.
Yes, it is more expensive than Dyson Cinetic. But this machine is built to last plus the filtration you’ll get will be better than Cinetic.
The two filters plus the multi-layer bag will filter up to 0.3 microns of dirt which is much better than Dyson’s 0.7 microns.

What to expect from this commercial quality vacuum
If you are not familiar with Sebo, it is a German brand that has been manufacturing vacuum cleaners for over 25 years.
This is the choice of many hotels to clean their rooms on a daily basis. This tells you a little bit about the build quality and engineering behind this product and why it is so expensive.
Watch this video from Ibaisaic to learn about the features, assembly and how it works…
First, this machine is built to last.
While other brands put a filter after the engine, Sebo has put one before the engine.
This extends the life of the vacuum to decades (if you replace the filters regularly).
So when you look at that perspective, the $870++ price tag doesn’t seem ridiculous.
Second, this vacuum was built with the allergy sufferer in mind
If you suffer from any type of allergy like allergic rhinitis, you know that any hint of dust can trigger it, which is why if you are allergic, you will have to be careful in choosing the right vacuum cleaner for this type of situation.
The Sebo X5 is an excellent choice because it has very good filtration thanks to the 2 filters. There is a pre-engine filter inside the bag and another after the engine.
In addition to filters, the bag that Sebo uses also has HEPA filtration and anti-odor properties that keep allergens and odor inside the bag.
You don’t have to worry about allergens escaping through the exhaust. This is evidence of the engineering behind this product.
Compared to other brands like Kenmore, Sebo bags are relatively inexpensive.
A package of 10 will only cost about $25, which is $2.5 per piece.
Don’t worry about the added cost of bags, consider it an investment in your health.
When you use a bagless vacuum cleaner when there are no bags, you will be exposed to allergens while emptying the trash.
You don’t have to worry about exposure to allergens with the X5 because the bag is airtight.
These bags are huge. Capable of storing 1.3 gallons of dry dirt and since the entry point is at the top, you can use up every inch of the bag before disposing of it.
Unique feature
One of the unique features that I love about the X5 is where the air passes through. On most rolls, it passes through the bottom of the bag so that the bag’s filling performance is degraded by all the dirt getting in the way.
Sebo modified the design and redirected the airflow around the bag toward the top of it. This means that as the bag is full, the absorption won’t break down because nothing is in the way.
Floor cleaning
In addition to the cleaning capabilities on the floor, you can use this broom for cleaning above the floor thanks to the integrated hose and extension wand along with the three tools that come with it.
If you think the hose is too short, you can purchase an optional extension hose to extend the reach. This adds an additional 9 feet to the existing hose and extends the reach.
What makes this a high-tech vacuum?
It has an electronically controlled height adjustment feature that determines the brush roll area according to the type of floor.
This ensures that the brush roller remains in contact with the floor at all times. If the bristles are frayed, a light will appear telling you that you will need to replace the brush.
Another useful feature is the container full indicator which also lights up when the bag is full.
Not only will it light up, but it also signals the engine to stop which is another indication that the bag is full.
This really saves you time in troubleshooting any potential problems.
bare floor performance
The X5 does not have a brush stroke on/off feature, so scrubbing bare floors will be challenging. This may not be suitable inside hardwood homes due to the risk of scratching.
But in terms of cleaning small particles of dirt such as dust or sand, it does a very good job thanks to the sealing tape.
It also has another purpose – the sealing tape passes all dirt directly to the entrance to the vacuum and into the bag.
This increases cleaning efficiency and reduces tampering.
But if you’re in a house that has mostly bare floors, I wouldn’t recommend something as expensive as this machine. You’d be better off with something cheaper and more purpose built for the job.
carpet performance
You can purchase this vacuum cleaner for its deep carpet cleaning capabilities. The strong force produces 103.8 CFM which is on the high side. It also has stiff bristles that provide excellent agitation so you can deep clean.
While a machine like the Dyson DC50 is capable of picking up large items like pet hair and rice, you’ll need a shaft like a sibo to pick up sand that can tear the base of the rug over time.
Here’s a brief demo comparing the Dyson DC50 Animal and Sebo verticals (probably X4)…
The X4 and X5 both use the same engine so performance is roughly the same.
upholstery performance
Thanks to the flexible hose and upholstery attachment, the X5 is able to clean fabric upholstery.
An optional turbo brush can be purchased for about $45 in case you need a little more excitement to brush pet hair on upholstery.
Pet hair removal
On the carpet, this vacuum cleaner breathes in pet hair even on shaggy carpets thanks to its automatic height adjustment feature, powerful suction and a stiff brush.
Although, you may need to purchase a turbo brush to efficiently clean pet hair on chairs or sofas. But the upholstery tool will be able to do that as well but with less efficiency of course.
Attachments and accessories
The Sebo X5 comes with 3 accessories out of the box – crevice tool, brush tool and upholstery brush.
Optional attachments are also available and can be purchased from Amazon or directly from the Sebo website.
rope length
The X5’s cord is about 40 feet long — at least 8 feet longer than a Dyson and Shark vacuum.
Filter cleaning
In addition to the bag, this also comes with two additional filters that help filter out allergens.
The motor pre-filter is located right next to the bag and another filter is located on top of the vacuum cleaner base. Sebo recommends changing these filters after every 20 bag changes to ensure optimal vacuum performance.
Also available for sale is a service box of 10 filters, sealing tape, and a pre- and post-engine filter. If you buy these parts separately they will cost more.
Guarantee
Cebu backs it with a 5-year warranty. But they also claim that if you follow their recommendations for filter replacement, this machine will easily last 15 years. That’s because clean air passes through the engine (thanks to an engine pre-filter) and clean air extends engine life.

Customer Reviews
As this is a relatively new vacuum in the Sebo product line, it didn’t get as many comments as the X4 but based on what I’ve read it’s mostly positive.
Many owners of this vacuum are pet owners with many heavy dogs such as the yellow Labrador.
The biggest plus was the suction power and the agitator that cleans a lot of pet hair. Build quality is another strong point. Someone even compared this to the Mercedes W124 – a popular German car made in the early 80s.
One feature the consumer encountered was the automatic height-adjustment feature that doesn’t completely go down when cleaning carpets which the reviewer said he feels the excitement is lacking. Since there is no manual adjustment, you cannot adjust the height setting to your preference.
Another feature that it lacks is the brush closure which can be a problem if you have sensitive wood floors and can be easily scratched.
The hose lacks length and will tip over when you pull on it hard enough. This is a problem with the vertically fitted hose. An optional accessory is available that extends the reach by 9 feet and can solve the problem.

Where can I buy this?
You can buy this upright vacuum cleaner from Amazon for less than $900. It qualifies for free 2-day Amazon shipping if you join Prime. And you have the option of purchasing an extended warranty if you think 7 years of Sebo isn’t enough.
Another option is to buy directly from Sebo for about the same price. But you will not get free 2-day shipping.
to finish
This bagged upright vacuum is great for people who are looking for a deep-cleaning carpet vacuum that’s easy to empty.
The snap-in pouch feature inside this vacuum cleaner makes it one of the easiest rolls to vacuum on the market. All you have to do is press the lever which will open the bag in place.
Since the opening for the bag is at the top, you can enlarge it and fill it up to a capacity of 1.3 gallons.
This means that you will have to change bags less frequently unless you live in a very large house or in a dusty environment.
While operating costs will go up, what you get is a powerful vacuum cleaner that will easily last 15 years and above thanks to a pre-motor filter that only allows clean air to pass through the motor.
Aside from the multi-layer bag that actually provides excellent filtration, it comes with pre and post-motor HEPA filters which add even more filtration. The last two filters filter dust down to 0.3 microns.
While this sounds like old school, don’t let its looks fool you as it has some hi-tech features like automatic height adjustment, full/clog bag illumination and brush obstruction light with auto shut-off that tells you when something is stuck on the brush roll.
All this adds up to a high-performance vacuum cleaner from a German manufacturer that many hotel owners go to because of its deep cleaning performance and durability.
Priced at over $870, this device is pricey. But consider it a special investment for people with asthma or allergic rhinitis as this will clean up allergens without splashing them around your home.
