Have you ever heard of the Samsung brand? I bet you have one of their smartphones.
It sounds similar to what Dyson and Dyson think too. This is why they have sued Samsung for the alleged copyright infringement.
Coming back to Samsung MotionSync, this is a cylinder vacuum with a motorized brush roller that works well on carpets and hard surfaces because it has a brush that runs on and off the brush.
It also comes with a HEPA filter, so allergens are inside the container. Cyclonic filtration is used so the filters stay clean for longer.
Price-wise, it’s a bit cheaper than Dyson but the warranty is a question mark as neither Amazon nor Samsung has mentioned the length of the warranty (Best Buy and consumers say it comes with a 5-year warranty on parts and labor).
Performance-wise, consumer reviews indicate that it has performed well on carpet (more on that below).
Let’s find out how this new product from Samsung compares to other vacuum cleaners.

- It has ball technology similar to Dyson’s which allows it to operate a dime
- Warranty is not specified, you should still ask but Best Buy says it comes with a 5-year warranty on parts and labor
- The floor tool has the effect of plowing over larger debris – that’s because it locks itself onto the carpet for a better deep clean
- short power cord
- Heavy – Weighs 27 lbs
- No storage space for attachments
- Even with the swivel feature, it’s hard to maneuver in tight areas
- Small turbo brush does not do well at picking up dirt (based on some reviews)
What do you expect from Samsung Motion Sync?
Almost every feature of MotionSync is meant to provide convenience.
First, it has fingertip controls that allow you to operate the device without having to bend over.
It still holds the foot controls just in case you’re comfortable using them.
HEPA filtration (great for people with allergies)
Inside the case, you will find that it uses 14 cyclonic chambers that ensure that fine dust particles do not clog the filter thus maintaining cleaning performance. These cyclones also extend the time needed to clean the filter.
Allergy sufferers, this is a great option for you because it has a HEPA filter that keeps the majority of allergens inside the container.
It has even been certified as asthma and allergy friendly by the Canadian Asthma Association.
The main cleaning head is a 12.7″ wide tool with a motorized brush. It has a 10A motor, so it will have enough suction to deeply clean carpets and area rugs.
Attachments and accessories
This versatile vacuum cleaner comes with four attachments…
- 12.7 inch electric brush
- turbine brush
- Professional parquet brush (for hard floors)
- 2-in-1 crevice/brush tool.
The power cord is short at only 23 feet but has a wire to rewind which makes storage less difficult.
In the box, you will find two filters, the HEPA micro-filter before the foam engine and the HEPA filter for the exhaust. The pre-engine filter is washable but HEPA is not.
Here’s how to access both.
Watch it in action
Below is a brief overview of features and performance on a tiled surface (sorry it’s not in English).
Amazon or Samsung doesn’t specify a warranty, but BestBuy.com says it comes with a 5-year warranty on parts and labor, and consumers have also said it has a 5-year warranty.
bare floor performance
This will work well on exposed surfaces such as hardwood or linoleum because it has strong suction power (210W air).
It also has the option to turn off the brush roller which prevents it from scratching expensive floors.
Keep in mind that since it is low, there will be a spurting effect when cleaning larger debris.
If you are cleaning like this, you will need to remove the floor tool and pick up larger pieces of dirt directly from the stick or use the brush tool.
Before I comment on carpet cleaning, watch this video review…
The carpet looks clean but has already been cleaned for a few days so there is a lot of dirt under the carpet fibers.
In terms of performance, it does a good job of deep cleaning as indicated by the amount of dirt captured.
The floor tool creates a seal that allows it to clean deeply but at the cost of plowing larger bits of dirt forward.
For large bits of surface dirt, simply peel off the floor tool and use the stick to pick up those bits.
The motorized brush feels strong enough to work on a medium pile carpet. So if you have this at home, take a look at it as an alternative to a Dyson can (if that’s too expensive for you).
You will also notice in the video review that the consumer did not find it difficult to adjust the telescopic stick which saves a lot of time especially moving from the floor to other areas of the house.
Comes with a small turbo brush. This is a miniature version of the main floor instrument.
You can also use a crevice/dust brush for non-fabric upholstery such as leather.
Pet hair removal
As you saw in the video I shared above, it will do a very good job of picking up pet hair on the carpet due to the strong suction and motorized brush.
Just be sure to regularly check the winding of the hair on the brush roll and use scissors or a blade to trim it off. This is a must for maintenance so performance does not deteriorate over time.
Heres how to do it…
On upholstery, you can use a turbine brush to pick up pet hair on the upholstery although there have been some consumers who said it wasn’t very effective at picking up dirt because the brush roll is only air powered.

What do consumers say
Since this vacuum is relatively new on the market, there are not many reviews. Right now, there are less than 50 on Amazon.
Most of the reviews are positive saying that MotionSync was great at picking up dust and pet hair on the carpet.
Great for deep cleaning
The 12.7-inch wide floor tool has a sturdy brush roll that does a good job of digging and picking up built-in dirt.
Not as strong as Dyson
Consumers say the suction power is strong but still lags behind the Dyson.
If you take a look at the specifications, you will find that the Dyson DC39 has 280 watts of antenna while this one has only 210 watts. The big difference will be the excitement. Samsung’s main cleaning tool has a motorized brush while Dyson does not.
There is no swivel feature
Another complaint is the swivel feature, even though it does rotate.
Some people seem to have a hard time maneuvering around really tight areas due to the width of the nozzle and the bulk of the case.
There is an overload feature in the floor tool that prevents the motorized brush from spinning when it detects something blocking it.
One consumer was unaware of this feature and continued to use the vacuum cleaner without removing the tampon and resetting it, so I thought I’d add this information here.
No tool storage
The attachments do not have any storage space despite being useful, so you will either have to buy a separate bag or find an area in your home to store it which has not been suitable for some consumers.
One of these tools, the small turbine brush has no motor. It’s air driven so it affects performance.
Another complaint would be the price. Amazon clearly read this and has since lowered their prices.
If you look at the general consensus of the reviews, a lot of consumers really liked the performance and build quality.
Some consumers have complained of poor performance and less storage space for attachments.
The user manual could also use some work as it wasn’t very clean in terms of instructions for putting the unit together.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy the Samsung Versatile Case on Amazon for less than $500. And you’ll be eligible for free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.
Amazon also sells extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.
This would be a great option for people who are looking for a deep cleaning vacuum cleaner but aren’t willing to spend more than $400.
It has some great features that are not even found on Dyson like fingertip controls.
It won’t match Dyson’s pure suction power, but it makes up for it with a powerful brush roll capable of deep cleaning carpets.
It also uses a HEPA filter that prevents allergens from coming back in. In fact, it is certified by the Canadian Asthma Association to be asthma and allergen friendly.
The rope is only 23 feet short but that’s because it has a cord wrap feature.
Another potential downside is the weight, it tip the scales at roughly 27 pounds, so if you have a slightly weak or weak back, this might not be the right vacuum for you.
All in all, Samsung has put together a great package that could be an alternative to the more expensive Dyson.
It has everything you need to be an all-in-one cleaner on floors and other areas such as upholstery and stairs in small to medium sized homes.
