Does the self-cleaning feature really work?

A unique feature of Narwal T10 is Self-cleaning base station that washes paD – ridding you of this menial task. But the question is how effective is it? This robot is different from other robotic wipers I have reviewed in the past. It has two spinning pads that provide better agitation than most options. It is similar to the Bissell Spinwave but with a self-cleaning system.

Introduction to Narwal T10
The Narwal T10 is one of the most unique hybrid vacuum/mop robots I’ve reviewed over the past few months. I have tested some innovations like Roborock S7.
While most only pull out a wet pad, this robot is unique with dual swivel pads and a self-cleaning base station.
Nerwal claims their system will keep pads clean, but How effective is that?
First, let’s see how this product works.
Inside the huge base station there are two water tanks – one for clean and one for dirty water. base station prepares the pads before the robot heads for the scanning task.
so there There is no water tank inside the robot itself. One of the advantages of this design is comfort.
Bigger means more to you You don’t have to refill often.
I would estimate refilling in my small house about once a week if I used it once a day.
Mileage may vary depending on the size of your home and frequency of use. But what I’m trying to point out here is narwhal Priority scanning convenience.
Despite the large base station, the T10 does not have a self-discharge feature, which may disappoint some of you.
If you look closely at the base station from above, the 1.3-gallon tank takes up most of the space.
After the scanning cycle, the robot docks, and Two pads rotate on a specially designed tray (with textured surface).
As the pad rotates, water flows from the clean water tank into the pads to help remove debris.
Dirty water flows through various strategically located openings on the tray, and is then pumped to the dirty water tank.
The system isn’t flawless (I’ll explain later why), but if the Narwal is committed to tightening the loose ends, it could improve.
Staton base design
The base station is huge. I put both Roomba S9 And I6 base stations next to it, and that thing is big.
I think it should fit two large 1.3 gallon tanks. This device is more than just a charging port.
It performs multiple tasks including preparing the pad (described above) and cleaning the pads.
However, it is highly dependent on the base station.
I tried using it in an enclosed area to test for noise, but it didn’t work. It appears to be in recalibration mode with the engine turned off.
There are two tanks for storing clean and dirty water separately. I like that each tank opens from the top, so it’s easy to clean.
Unlike most round-frame robots, the T10 features a square-shaped design with rounded edges. It’s not quite a D-shaped design like Neto Botvacbut close.
The LIDAR sensor is located near the back, and it has a one-button interface.
You can use this robot in two configurations: a robot vacuum and a mop.
There are two side brushes attached to create the vacuum. And two triangular plates to configure the survey.

It holds these magnetic pins in place, so switching from one mode to another is easy.
You will notice that it does not have a motorized brush and negatively affects the cleaning of floors.
Trash container design and capacity
T10 has a dustbin installed on top 0.4 liter capacity. I love the high quality plastic they used for it, and it should hold up for the long haul. The HEPA filter is washable, but you will have to replace it about once every two months.
One unique feature is how the air flows inside the trash can. Instead of flowing directly through the filter, the Narwal redirects it through a small pocket on top of the container with another mesh filter.
This design reduces build-up on the filter. Also, the mesh filter I talked about is detachable, so it’s easy to clean completely.
Since this bot does not have a self emptying feature, you will have to manually pull out the bot to empty the trash.
It’s not a deal breaker, in my opinion, but it’s an extra step.
Unlike other hybrid types of robotic vacuum/mop where the water tank is inside the robot, the T10 water tank is located inside the base station. There are two types – clean and dirty water.
There are several reasons why Narwal chose this design.
The first is convenience, because sheer volume means fewer refills. The refill rate will vary depending on the size of the house and how often you use it.
Another reason is the self-cleaning feature. It would be practical to use a larger water tank for this.
Each one opens from the top, so it’s easy to clean.
Sensors are placed to inform users if the clean water tank is empty or if the dirty water tank is full.
This bot is compatible with Narwal app, you can download it by scanning this QR code on the bot. Unfortunately, it is not available in any of the app stores (Android or IOS).
Connecting the bot and the app is a straightforward process. You will need a router for such. Once connected, users will unlock all the features, which I will enumerate here.
Narwal app has a live map that provides users with real-time information about the location of the bot. It also displays battery status and configuration – whether it’s mopping or vacuuming.
Out of bounds
Containment is also available in the app. There are three options – no wipe, no wipe, and no wipe/squeegee.
However, it doesn’t have the invisible wall feature, so you’ll be limited to squares and rectangles that block out areas. There is no option to block oblique areas.
Selective room cleaning
Users can choose a room to clean with this feature and also specify the number of corridors in each room, which I think is a nice wrinkle. So you can increase the number of runs inside a room with a dirtier floor and reduce the frequency in another room.
Save the map
The good news is that saving maps is available with the Narwal T10. Unfortunately, users can only save one map. I think Narwal thinks the sheer size of the base station may dissuade users from moving this one. But it’s always good to have more options.
Another feature I like is the control over how many times you spin – between one and three. You can access this feature by going to the quick tab or down arrow in the upper right part of the screen.
Unfortunately, Narwal does not have a scheduling feature. It has a word table, but it doesn’t allow users to decide when the bot will clean automatically.
How much power does the Narwal T10 have?
Narwal claims the T10 has 1,800Pa of suction. I tried to measure the airflow with an anemometer, but I couldn’t because the robot isn’t depressing the entire box.
LIDAR is the T10’s primary navigation sensor and helps it traverse straight lines efficiently. Like other brands with LIDAR and SLAM (NeatoAnd RoborockDreame), begins by cleaning the edges before processing the middle parts.
It has noticed wider turns, which hinders its performance. The combination of that and the drum-less design makes it difficult for me to recommend this to a vacuum cleaner.
Like I said earlier, it lacks the automatic room detection feature and relies heavily on the base station.
The results in the coverage test were good, but she needed all three passes to capture most of the Quaker Oats. However, it still left debris, and the side brush spatter problem is evident in this experiment.
The lack of a roll brush hampers this robot negatively. I tested it on debris like Quaker oats, quinoa, pet litter, and sand, but didn’t finish it because of the low scores.
First, here are the results.

A score of 75.16% is one of the lowest since you have applied this test system. It is slightly higher than the Viomi V3, but the higher degree of deep cleaning saved it from getting worse.

As expected, this robot performed better on hard surfaces with its record in the 1990s. One issue is the fast-rotating dual side brush system that disperses debris, which is what I’ve noticed in most testing. Another problem is the wide turning radius which results in missed points.
Narwal claims that this product will clean carpets well if you have seen the ads. Unfortunately, tests reveal otherwise. The lack of a roller brush severely hampers cleaning performance on this surface.
The passes weren’t as clean as I would have liked them to be, which isn’t surprising for a robot without a reel.

It was the best of Quaker oats but not so good with heavy stuff like pet droppings. The problem of side brush scattering is not evident on the carpet, but it is still an important factor.

The Narwal performed worse on a medium-pile carpet, with an average score of 78% — easily the worst of all the high-end robotic vacuums I haven’t tested.
Expecting this robot to clean carpets would be a recipe for disappointment and should not be the main reason to buy this product.
Deep cleaning results
Even with my doubts, I’m still testing this bot how it works in deep cleaning tests. He. She It picked up 26.3% of the submerged sand On a medium pile rug. The lack of a roller brush severely hinders cleaning anything under the surface.
Before I reveal the results, I have to say that the T10 was built with a front wipe. Every aspect of the design meets this function, from the front-mounted pads to the base station.
It’s the only robot wiper I’ve tested so far that is able to clean wet dirt with minimal risk of fluid seeping through the motor.
Even the Roborock S7, with its vibrating wiping pad and mop-only option, can’t do what this bot can do when it spills.
Here are some before and after shots.
It was the best at cleaning red wine stains, cleaning most of them after the first pass. Although the photo didn’t reveal a clean result, it was also best at cleaning up sugary stains (grape juice and tomato juice), leaving a non-stick surface.
Cleaning up on sugary stains was the biggest problem of all the robot vacuums I tested. While the robots were removing the stains, the surface was sticky, and residue built up.
However, there is a limit to the effectiveness of T10. It wasn’t good when I tried it on such a big spot.
A nerwall cleaner might help, but I haven’t had a chance to test it (yet). So I’ll keep the judgment as soon as I get it.
Regardless, it is still a versatile mopping robot with a self-cleaning feature.
How effective is a self-cleaning base station?
Narwal’s biggest selling point is the self-cleaning feature. So how effective is that?
Watching this demo will lead you to believe that it will clean the pads 100%, but here are some pictures of the pad after mopping tests, and note that after going through the mop cleaning cycle.
These photos reveal that they will not clean the pads well enough not to wash them by hand. The decorative tray does not provide enough agitation to remove all the crumbs of dirt.
Nirwal told me the cleanser would help, but I’m keeping judgment until I test it again.
How noisy is the Narwal T10?
I used a sound meter to test noise levels, and here are the results.

This robot is not noisy at all, especially in its scanning configuration, and did not break the 50 dB mark. I’ve tried using this bot while dining as a family or watching a movie together, and it didn’t bother us a bit.
How long does the Narwal T10 last?
This robot is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 5200 mAh and will work For up to three hours. Narwal says it has a fast charging system and will take three hours to fully charge.

One of my concerns with Narwal is the availability of spare parts. At the moment, the only place to purchase replacement side brushes or filters would be through their website. Only time will tell if this product will take off and gain popularity. So I can’t comment much on this.
Nerwall’s unique design means a different method of maintenance which I will summarize below.
- Side brushes: The bristle-tipped side brush will flex because it interferes with the width of the base station. Flatten it occasionally with your fingers and remove any hair that is wrapped around the base.
- Clean water tank: Avoid using strong detergents. Narwal recommends using a low-suds, pH-neutral cleaner if you decide not to use their product.
- Dirty water tank: Empty the tank once full and wash the base occasionally as there will be a buildup of residue in this area. The wide opening makes this job easy.
- panels: Even with the self-cleaning feature, you’ll want to wash the pads at least once a week. My favorite method is to soak them in a disinfecting cleaning solution and then hand wash them to get rid of any bacteria.
- Box: Another area of accumulation is the stairs. Hair and gunk will build up here, so wash them well at least once a week.
- base station: Dirty water will collect under the tray, be sure to wipe this area with a paper towel to remove any buildup.

Does Narwal T10 Offer Excellent Value?
Spending four figures on a robot vacuum is a lot, and with the T10 not performing as well as a robot vacuum, it can feel like a stretch.
It’s more expensive than Roomba S9+ With the feature of self-discharge and superior performance.
So the question is – does Nirwal’s wiping performance and self-cleaning feature ensure high cost?
There’s no doubt that the T10 squeegee is good, but I feel that the mobility could be better by implementing a sharper turning radius and perhaps the criss-cross pattern on the Roborock S7.
The self-cleaning feature is innovative, but the implementation could be better. It is not a completely hands-free system where you will need to clean the tray, wipe excess water from under the base station and hand wash the pads.
4 reasons to buy Narwal T10
- Great on Wet Spots On Dry Spots: It’s the only option so far (I’ve tested) to clean both wet dirt and dry spots well.
- Self-cleaning: Although the pads don’t clean quite as well as I would have liked, it does extend the time frame for washing them by hand.
- Less refills: The 1.3 gallon tank requires less refilling than other brands as the tank is robot-mounted.
- Easy to clean: I like the modular design and the top opening of the cabinets, which makes them very easy to clean.
Verdict: ONLY BUY THIS IF YOU NEED THE SCAN FUNCTION
Vacuuming should not be the main reason to buy this robot as it will disappoint you.
Only consider this product if you need something standalone to mop and keep enclosed floors clean.
Front-mounted spinning pads provide excellent agitation and leave clean floors. While it can remove stains, don’t expect it to match a hardwood floor cleaner in terms of precision. It has a limit on the size of the impurities that can be cleaned. As I saw in my video review, I had a hard time with dried tomato juice stains.
But it’s still a good robotic mop, in my opinion. The question is, are you willing to spend on it?

Narwal T10 Plus wipes off both wet and dry spots, but that’s it. While the self-cleaning system works to some extent, you will still need to wash the bandages at certain intervals. I like that the two large water tanks require less room for babysitting, but they’re not completely hands-free. You will still need to clean the tray and the area under it as well as wash the bandages. The decision to buy this bot or not depends on your willingness to spend for it.
