The Makita XLC02R1B addresses one of the most important issues that a cordless vacuum cleaner faces – charging time.
This lightweight vacuum cleaner takes about 25 minutes to recharge.
Just to give you the numbers, the Dyson DC59 Motorhead Which use Nickel Cobalt Manganese battery will take about 3-1/2 hours to recharge, the Black & Decker Platinum BD2000FL It takes longer, up to 5 hours.
Both brooms are among the best sellers on Amazon’s bestseller list.
Being a Makita, you can expect a solid performance from this. You can use it inside your workshop as a vacuum cleaner inside your home or vehicle.
On a side note, please check out my article at How to clean the store filter by clicking this link.
The XLC02R1B is the latest version, But the functions and features remain the same as the previous versions. It doesn’t have any motorized brush, so don’t expect much from it in terms of carpet cleaning.
It will run for up to 15 minutes based on Makita’s spec sheet website.
One caveat is that this will not be able to clean medium or plush carpets because it does not have a motorized brush.
Apart from this limitation, it can capture anything as long as it fits in the slot.
This model is the latest version of Makita BCL180W This is not currently available on Amazon.

Quick look at the features
- A full charge will provide up to 15 minutes of continuous running time

- The body is 18-3/4″ long, and if you add the floor and the extension stick, the total length will be 39-5/16
- Uses Makita 18V Lithium-Ion 2.0 Ah battery (BL1820) which improves runtime by 50% (10min to 15min)
- The charger has a built-in Star Protection Computer Controls mechanism that protects the batteries from overcharging, overdischarging and overheating.

What do you expect from Makita express shipping?
A great feature of this cordless vacuum cleaner is the fast charger which will only take 25 minutes to recharge.
It has Makita’s patented “Star Protection Computer Controls” that protects the battery from overcharging and overheating.
So you don’t have to worry about leaving it on the charger for longer than necessary.
It also has a built-in fan that cools the battery as it charges, so this feature helps extend its service life.
It has a 2-stage fabric filtration system that works amazing even if it cleans a lot of fine dust.
While other vacuum cleaners will struggle with cleaning sawdust, this will not happen.
Not for tall people
The total length of this vacuum is just a shade under 40 degrees if you include the extension wand.
This is short compared to the others stick blanks, So if you are more than six feet tall, you will have to bend over to use this on the floors.
Attachments and accessories
It comes with a total of three attachments – (1) a floor tool, (2) a crevice tool, and (3) an extension wand.
You can store the crevice tool in a clip attached to the wand (see image above).
It will take approximately 25 minutes to fully charge the 18V lithium-ion battery, which is 10 minutes more than the previous model. However, Makita says that this version has a system called Star Protection Computer controls that protect against overloading and overdischarging.
Cleaning is easy.
First, remove the dirt cup by twisting it and then empty the dirt inside.
There are two cleaning parts here – the pre-filter and the cloth filter itself. To remove the pre-filter, twist it and pull it out. Gently tap the trash can to remove any dirt.
According to Makita, the uptime has increased by 50%, so from 10 minutes, it increased to 15 minutes when used continuously.
Like the Dyson cordless vacuum cleanerYou will need to press the power button to turn this on. It is not the most comfortable to use, but it is designed to maximize uptime.
Makita offers consumers a 3-year warranty on the tool and a 1-year warranty on the battery.
bare floor performance
Judging almost unanimously, on bare floor surfaces like tile or hardwood, this cordless will do its best.
The strong suction is enough to pick up various types of debris such as dust and even pet hair on this surface.
Under the basic floor tool is a squeegee that passes dirt into the suction chamber.
It also comes with crevice tools in case you need to clean larger pieces of debris like bolts or nuts.
If so with Cheerios, the slot tool can pick up these items.
It does not have any motorized brush, which limits it to cleaning surface dirt on low pile carpets. If you have a lot of carpet in the house, avoid it. You’ll be better off with a Dyson DC59, Hoover Air Cordless 3.0, or Linx Stick.
Pet hair removal
And the lack of a motorized brush limits the effectiveness of this in cleaning pet hair. It will do well to pick up pet hair on bare floors, but on carpet, you won’t be able to pick up pet hair embedded in a medium pile to shaggy rug.
If you want to clean pet hair on upholstery, you can try using a crevice tool, but it will not be as effective as a pet hair grooming tool.
The crevice tool will do just fine at cleaning up loose dirt and larger debris on the upholstery (as long as it fits into the slot of the crevice tool). But it lacks a dusting brush that would have helped clean the vents and keyboards.

What do consumers say?
Although this is a relatively new product, all consumers who have used it have loved the way it performs on bare floor surfaces.
The strong points were its light weight and powerful suction. The best part is that they don’t have to wait hours for them to fully charge.
While Makita said, it will take up to 25 minutes to fully charge. Some consumers report that it only took 15 minutes.
One consumer mentioned removing the debris mop under the floor tool, which made it easier for him to use it on the carpet.
He said the cleaning performance was unaffected even if he removed it and that it could be installed again because it had a sunken grove.
Other consumers bought this because they own other Makita products that use similar batteries.
Some said it doesn’t work well on carpet because it doesn’t have any motorized brush.

This lightweight cordless cleaner would be great in small to medium sized homes with mostly bare floors solid wood or tiles.
It has excellent suction power and is strong enough to allow it to clean dust and other types of small and large debris.
It will work great in DIY enthusiast’s home workshops because it won’t struggle with cleaning things like sawdust and the like that other vacuums will struggle with.
It won’t work great even though it doesn’t have any motorized whisk rod, but other than that, it has some limitations.
The runtime is only 15 minutes, but it will only take 25 minutes to charge it, and that eliminates that.
