LG CordZero A9 Ultimate Review

Posted on May 12, 2022May 17, 2022 by admin

When people mention LG, the first thing that comes to mind is their home appliances like LED TVs, washing machines, air conditioning, etc.

But they also make cordless vacuums, and we’ll be focusing on the LG CordZero A9 in this review.

It has a frame similar to a Dyson cordless vacuum but with some useful features not seen on a Dyson.

One of them is this storage rack, which can store tools and charge two batteries simultaneously.

It’s something high on my priority list because I’m against drilling holes.

I’ve spent several hours testing this vacuum cleaner to see how well it cleans, ergonomics, and more.

Premium cordless vacuum option underappreciated

LG CordZero A9 Review

CordZero A9 is LG’s first foray into the cordless vacuum cleaner industry, and it’s a very good product. One of the features I like is Freestanding berth with storage pods For its portable gadgets, in addition, it can charge two batteries simultaneously. Cleaning performance is excellent despite below average airflow (compared to Dyson), thanks to the design dynamics of floor tools. But there are also some negatives to be aware of, such as the filtration not being fully closed.

Introduction to LG CordZero A9

LG is a popular brand that is famous for its consumer appliances like refrigerators and air conditioners.

I have used some of their products, and they are a high quality brand.

Finally, they’ve entered this space with the CordZero lineup, and I’ll focus on the CordZero A9 vacuum, one of LG’s high-end options for vacuuming hard floors and carpets.

There are two A9 sub-variables, namely Ultimate and Compressor.

LG CordZero A9 in vacuum mode

The Ultimate Edition has a smaller capacity battery with a stated runtime of 80 minutes (combined), while the Kompressor uses a larger battery, pushing it to 120 minutes.

Another plus is that the Kompressor has this lever that compresses dirt, dust, and pet hair, nearly doubling the Ultimate’s capacity.

The set of attachments will also vary depending on the model.

Choosing one depends on the type of flooring you have, so explore these options carefully before buying.

Going back to my review, we’ll go over the features and see how they stack up against the best cordless vacuums.

2 batteries

LG CordZero A9 Detachable Batteries

Out of the box, users will get files Two detachable Li-Ion 2300 mAh batteries.

I like that these batteries are removable, which makes it easy to switch without unscrewing anything.

The Capacity 2300 mAh It’s on the lower end which is a major reason why it won’t run as long as the Dyson V15 (3600mAh).

But the good news is that you can charge these batteries simultaneously as they have an additional storage dock for the second pack.

it’s for Tineco A11 and Pure One S12 dock, but the LG version is stand-alone.

free standing berth

LG CordZero A9 Free Standing Docking Station

My favorite feature of this vacuum cleaner is the dock.

It’s the first time I’ve tested it with a standalone capability.

I know Dyson has a Floor Dok, but it’s an expensive add-on, and it doesn’t have a case for the extra battery.

The LG version has this feature as well as slots for three additional tools.

The A9 variant (I have it) has four tools, so one was left hanging, and that’s the only wrench.

For people like me who are against drilling holes and don’t want to spend an extra $$$ on a stand, give the LG CordZero A9 a long look.

Five stages of filtration

LG says the A9 has a 5-step filtration system to prevent 99.99% of dust particles from seeping through the exhaust.

But fog tests reveal that the CordZero A9 does not have a completely closed system.

LG CordZero A9 fog tests

Leak at the bottom and sides, and eventually around the filter area.

For its premium level cost, this is somewhat disappointing to me as I was expecting more.

Aside from the cyclones and mineral dust filter, the A9 has a washable primary filter and a post-engine filter.

Here’s a closer look at the primary filter.

LG CordZero A9 Main Filter

And a HEPA filter after the engine.

LG CordZero A9 Post Engine Filter

adjustable stick

This feature I don’t see often in stick brooms. And CordZero implemented it out of necessity (I think) to fit in a freestanding dock.

It has practical uses, such as cleaning ceiling vents or low stairs.

Intelligent Inverter Motor

LG uses its own Intelligent Inverter Motor which provides the following advantages:

  1. Powerful cleaning
  2. Longer durability
  3. No carbon dust
  4. Intelligent Energy Saving
  5. Compact and lightweight

We’ll talk about power later in this review, so scroll down to see more.

In short, inverter motors are what manufacturers like LG offer, promising more efficient performance and a longer service life.

Watch this video for more information.

LG backs it up with a 10-year warranty on the motor.

Dealing with controls

LG CordZero A9 Control Knob

Unlike Dyson Stick vacuum cleaners that use a trigger, the CordZero A9 has easily accessible handle buttons.

This feature, along with the positioning of the handle, makes the A9 ergonomically fun to use with a stick vacuum configuration.

The lack of a trigger also allows you to relax the arm and wrist while using this, so there is less arm strain.

Trash container design and capacity

LG CordZero A9 body only

I have an A9 Ultimate without dirt compression feature, which reduces Volume to 13.5 ounces (or 0.399 liters)It is by no means spacious.

It has a release lever that opens a door trapped underneath, but it doesn’t have any mechanism to push the dirt down.

LG CordZero A9 Trap Door Opened

But it shouldn’t be a problem with everyday messes like dust and hair as they fall off with the trap door open.

Two brush rolls

Consumers will take these nozzles out of the box: a soft roller and a standard brush roller.

LG CordZero A9 cleaning nozzles

The soft roller (left) is an excellent tool for cleaning hard surfaces, while the standard brush roller works great on carpets.

They both have the precise steering mechanism, which I like because it rotates sharply and has a good steering feel.

Out of the box tools and attachments

Consumers will get a lot out of the CordZero A9.

LG CordZero accessories

  1. LG CordZero A9
  2. soft roller
  3. Standard brush roll
  4. slit tool
  5. collection tool
  6. power punch nozzle
  7. 2 batteries
  8. prison

How much power does the LG CordZero A9 have?

Vacuum brands You don’t have global stats From revealing strength numbers. some likes Dyson Use the air watts, while others only tell the motor power.

So I use several tools to check the power: an anemometer, a water lift gauge, a Y gauge.

An anemometer checks the turbulence of the air passing through a specified area. In vacuum cleaners, two important areas are the primary cleaning nozzle and the extension tube.

Here are the results in the cleaning nozzle

  • shortening: 24.53 cubic feet per minute
  • the above: 36.32 cubic feet per minute

and extension tube

  • shortening: 31 cubic feet per minute
  • the above: 52 cubic feet per minute

The A9’s airflow results are a bit disappointing, especially at the nozzle where it failed to break 40 CFM.

It is on par with the Shark Vertex Wireless and Moosoo K17. But it is below the likes of Dyson, Tineco, Lupe and Dreame.

Fortunately, the less-than-expected airflow results did not hamper cleaning performance (next section).

I’ve added to my recent tests of stick brooms, including suction tests.

Water lift gauge measures suction from a sealed opening.

The Y scale is an instrument that statically identifies any error variable by providing a solid platform for aspiration experiments.

It is a tool mainly used for central vacuum cleaners and applicable to vacuum cleaners such as LG CordZero.

  • Suction (directly to the water lift gauge): 50″
  • Y scale (unsealed): 22″
  • Y scale (sealed): 70″

Please be these numbers from the maximum setting.

Uncontrolled suction represents the working suction of a vacuum and the most accurate measure of how much suction it has.

In contrast, sealed suction indicates potential suction.

For the LG CordZero, it was difficult to get an accurate reading of the suction and sealed trials because it leads to the clogging error.

To put these results into perspective, the LG CordZero is above average with the unsealed tests – better than Torque Engine V11 (20″), V10 absolute (18 ″) and V8 absolute (15th”).

cleaning performance

Next, we’ll take a look at how well the LG CordZero A9 cleans, and that was impressive.

  • Total: 98.6%
  • Solid ground: 99.7%
  • Sand on the hard floor: 100%
  • Carpet (surface): 99.95%
  • deep cleaning: 94.75%

These results were amazing Considering lower than expected airflow numbersespecially with surface debris.

The A9 outperformed every test for picking up surface debris, rising by 100%. Eight out of twelve experiences.

On hard floors, it comes as no surprise since it has a soft attachment roller. But the results of the rug were even more impressive because this broom has a medium air flow.

The excellent cleaning dynamics of the standard floor nozzle is the main reason behind this.

hard floor results

LG CordZero A9 Hardwood Flooring Results

  • Quaker Oats: 100%
  • Cafe floors: 99%
  • Quinoa: 99.8%
  • pet litter: 100%

This is one of the best stick brooms I’ve tested on hard floors, not only because it got such a high rating, but it has good steering feedback.

What I mean is, when you twist your wrist, the nozzle rotates sharply, almost like a Dyson.

It’s not smooth, but it’s close.

Sand test on hard floor

The sunflower test for any cordless stick vacuum is sand.

LG CordZero A9 sandblasted in hard floor tests

Most poorly designed variants will not do well at catching sand, so it’s a good yardstick for determining whether they are good or not.

The A9 Ultimate did well, getting a perfect 100% in two tests.

My eye test confirmed these results because I didn’t see any residue after several passes back and forth.

hair wrap

I only do five and seven inch hair wrap tests for most stick brooms because they will struggle with the latter.

But with the A9, I had to go a step further and try it on threads longer than nine and eleven inches.

LG CordZero A9 Hair Roller on Hard Floor

  • 5 inch: 98%
  • 7 inch: 81%
  • 9 inch: 86%
  • 11 inch: 86%

The results were mixed, however still excellent at more than 80% With trials of nine and eleven inches.

One factor of variance is how much the hair wraps over the shaft.

Another potential problem is large amounts of hair (more than 1 gram) on the filter, so you’ll have to remove it manually.

Edge cleaning

LG’s soft roller has done Excellent job cleaning edges efficientlyYou only need a few passes to clean up this mess.

LG CordZero A9 Edge Cleaning Results

There isn’t much to say here, because the before and after photos tell it all.

Carpet cleaning results

One surprise for me when taking these tests is High rates on the carpetespecially surface debris.

I’ve tried a low and medium pile rug, and the percentages are higher on this surface than on hardwood floors (99.95% vs. 99.7%).

Low stack results

Low lint results LG CordZero A9

  • Quaker Oats: 99.8%
  • Cafe floors: 99.8%
  • pet litter: 100%
  • Quinoa: 100%

Despite the low airflow, I picked up quite a bit, even on ground coffee, which is a struggle with many low airflow vacuums.

Mid-stack results

Mid-pile results LG CordZero A9

  • Quaker Oats: 100%
  • Cafe floors: 100%
  • pet litter: 100%
  • Quinoa: 100%

The A9 Ultimate captured a higher percentage in mid-pile than low-pile carpeting.

Once again, it’s a testament to the excellent design and excitement of the essential brush roll.

It didn’t depend on airflow like other brands I’ve tested, and this was confirmed in a deep cleaning test, which I’ll share below.

deep cleaning

For this experience, I Rub 100 grams of fine sand On a medium pile rug.

This stick vacuum had an above-average recovery rate of 94.75%, a level A Dyson V7 . engine And DreameTect T30.

But it’s less than other premium stick vacuums like the Lupe Pure and Dyson advanced stick vacuums.

Regardless, it’s still an excellent result considering the below average airflow.

Roll the hair on the carpet

I had to do a hair wrap test of the CordZero A9 on carpet because it did so well on hard floors.

Here are the results.

LG A9 Wireless Hair Wrap Test on Carpet

  • 5 inch: 99%
  • 7 inch: 100%
  • 9 inch: 100%
  • 11 inch: 99%

For something that doesn’t have any effective anti-tangle regimen, these results are impressive.

This means the brush is thick enough to resist tangles and the bristles are tough enough to remove hair stuck to carpet fibres.

It is an excellent choice for people looking to clean pet hair on carpet.

Once again, the problem of hair stuck inside the trash remains here.

How Noisy the LG CordZero A9 Is?

I used a sound meter to check noise levels, and here are the results.

  • Little: 72.0 dB
  • the above: 79.4 dB

The reading of 79.4 dB is lower than LG’s claimed reading of 84 dB.

It is one of the noisier options compared to other cordless vacuums.

How long does LG CordZero A9 last?

The LG CordZero A9 has 80 minutes of running time on both batteries.

I tested it by running it from full charge to empty, and it went over that number.

ran for up to 43 minutes per battery or 86 minutes with both.

Runtime at maximum setting was Better than expected average of 15 minutes per batteryfor a total of 30 minutes!

Please note that the A9 Kompressor has a larger battery and longer run time than the two batteries at 120 minutes.

Availability of spare parts

Despite LG’s popularity, don’t expect Dyson-level aftermarket parts to be available with the CordZero A9.

Consumables such as the filter and battery are available, but that’s all there is to it.

You can buy these components from the LG website and possibly on Amazon, but that’s it.

This vacuum is not common enough for third party brands to sell its components.

Does LG CordZero A9 Offer Good Value?

Even at the premium level cost, the CordZero A9 offers plenty of value.

The most important added value It is a self-contained platformWhich, in my opinion, is one of the best out there.

It not only stores the vacuum cleaner, as well as three tools, but also simultaneously charges two batteries.

I don’t see a dock like this included on most other brands, other than Samsung, so this alone should make an excellent value-for-money alternative.

The next reason is high level performance.

It’s one of the best wand vacuums I’ve tested on surface dirt.

Compact dirt cleaning is a grade below Dyson (V11 torque engine, high volume, V15 revealing), but it is very good for airflow.

However, the biggest problem with this vacuum is the lack of a closed system that leaks during the fog test.

Verdict: Excellent value, cleaning performance, but not a good filter

There is a lot to like with the LG CordZero A9. Incredibly cleans. No need to drill holes, very convenient.

It’s not as popular as the Dyson, but consider the A9 if you want a little something Cheaper than a V11 Torque or oversized Without sacrificing too much cleaning performance and uptime.

That’s if you don’t mind the filtering problems I discovered in the fog test.

Underrated option cheaper than Dyson V11 or V15

  • Work environment – 95%
  • Surface cleaning – 99.88%
  • deep cleaning – 94.75%
  • Quality – 95%
  • Design – 95%
  • Values - 95%

  • TOTAL AVERAGE: 96%

summary

The LG CordZero is a very good choice for people who are looking for an excellent stick vacuum cleaner with comparable performance to that of Dyson. Cleans surface dirt as well as premium Dyson models like the V11 Outsize and V15 Detect, but at a lower cost. Steering is almost good, which was a surprise, but there is one annoying problem – filtering or lack of it, if that’s not a problem, consider this product seriously.
