Kenmore 31150 Elite Review

Kenmore 31150 Elite Review and Test

Posted on May 22, 2022June 20, 2022 by admin

A bagless vacuum cleaner is great but may not be suitable for a person with allergic rhinitis because even if these types of vacuums have HEPA systems that are sealed.

Still exposed to allergens when emptied, eg Dyson Cinetic.

Dyson claims that Cinetic technology will prevent allergens from clogging the HEPA filtration system. But one Youtube reviewer disputes this and has proof of that in the video.

This is where the filled void shines.

Only throw the bag away if it is full. There is no exposure to allergens dust.

The Kenmore 31150is one of the best on the market for vacuum cleaners thanks to the features we’ll talk about later and in this review we’ll find out how it performs.

What to expect from this upright bag

Features Kenmore31150Elite

First of all, this vacuum cleaner has a bag inside that collects all the dirt. And in case you’re curious, the bags run about $35 for a pack of six. That’s about 5.83 per bag which is a good deal.

In terms of suction power, this device has a lot thanks to its 3D induction motor.

strong suction

At full strength, the suction is so strong that you won’t be able to move it forward when cleaning rugged carpet because it’s trying to suck it up.

Another feature I love is the strapless design. Kenmore was able to pull off this by placing the motor next to the beater bar. Since there is no longer a belt, you don’t have to worry about breakage.

This is perfectly capable of cleaning rugged carpets thanks to the tough bristles that really stir up dirt. It also gives you the option to turn off the brush roller so you can use it on your bare floor.

Not for the bare floor

But I wouldn’t recommend this if your home has mostly bare floors due to the size and weight.

Despite its weight and size, you can use it to clean over floor wipers. It comes with a 4-foot hose and an extension wand for cleaning upholstery and stairs.

But according to some of the reviews I have read, the hose is very short and does not fully extend when the vacuum cleaner is on.

Other tools include a motorized mini pet grooming tool.

Let’s take a look at how it performs.

bare floor performance

This machine will be able to clean small and large debris on exposed floor surfaces because it has a brush roll on/off feature to prevent the brush from scratching it and dumping debris around.

But if your house only has bare floor, I suggest you use something lighter.

carpet performance

Homes with a lot of carpeting will benefit from this broom.

It has great suction power thanks to the 3D induction motor with a capacity of 12 amps. The stiff bristles on the motorized brush produce excellent agitation.

When you look down, you will notice that the brush is hard. And because it doesn’t have any straps, the brush goes to the side.

bristles

Let’s see him in action

It’s hard to tell how much dirt you picked up because you can’t see through the bag. Judging by consumer reviews, it has very good suction and excellent agitation.

Let’s see how it compares to the rainbow vacuum

You will also see how to properly attach the bag.

You’ll notice that even after a few passes with a kenmore, the rainbow was still able to pick up a good amount of pet hair and a bit of sand.

But I want to point out that Rainbow While a very good cleanser will set you back over a thousand dollars (second hand).

Here’s a little trick to make this usable on shaggy rugs…

By default, the suction is so strong that it is difficult to move the vacuum forward or backward.

The trick here is instead of attaching the hose directly to the base, attach it to the extension wand. So you can adjust the amount of suction.

upholstery performance

The Kenmore Elite comes with a small robotic tool that you can attach to your hose or extension wand so you can clean upholstery and even stairs.

Pet hair removal

Thanks to the stiff bristles inside the main floor tool, strong suction (Kenmore claims the vacuum cleaner has the strongest suction between rolls) and a small motorized brush, this machine will be able to pick up pet hair on carpets, bare floors, and even upholstery.

Attachments and accessories

This machine comes with a total of four…

  • Dust mix/upholstery tool
  • slit tool
  • Pet handi-mate (a fancy term for a small motorized brush)
  • telescopic stick

rope length

The power cord is approximately 35 feet long but does not contain any wire that can be rewound.

Filter cleaning and maintenance

Since this machine uses bags, there are no filters to clean.

When the bag is full, you will need to replace it with a new one. Replacement bags will cost about $35 per 6-pack (that’s roughly $6 per pack).

Aside from the bags, you will need to replace the HEPA filters periodically.. Kenmore says there are 3 filters in total.

Guarantee

Comes with only one year warranty.

This is a huge disappointment considering other bagless brands like Dyson, Shark, and Hoover that have over 5 years on their products.

Customer Reviews

Consumer Reports gave this vacuum the highest rating among the lists, and for good reason. This machine has an airtight HEPA filtration system and has very good suction.

Consumers also say that the suction power of this device is A +.

Some say this machine has too much suction and you can’t use it on carpet because it will try to suck it up.

I previously showed you how to use this on shaggy rugs and you can use the same technique without throw rugs.

This technology means the release valve is opened to reduce suction.

It’s a heavy vertical

Perhaps the biggest complaint by consumers is weight. This machine tips the scales at 22 pounds, and if you try to carry something heavy up the stairs, you’ll know what I mean.

If you are a bit old or don’t have enough upper body strength to carry something heavy, you are better off using something lighter like the Hoover Air Cordless or the Von Haus 2-in-1.

Due to the large size, weight, and short hose, you won’t be able to use this on a long flight of stairs.

Go with the shark if you want something lighter

Another complaint from consumers is the inability of this device to deep clean under furniture. If you are looking for a columnar capable of doing this, I suggest you take a look at the Shark Navigator Powered Lift Away.

It’s bag-free but smarter and the lift feature allows it to reach the best in class under furniture. Vent placement can be a problem according to consumers.

Blows off dirt, especially on exposed floors…

Just make sure that when you purchase this either at Sears or on Amazon to immediately put it through its paces until you find out if there are any issues in terms of build quality.

In general, judging by consumer reviews, it is better to use this machine as a deep cleaner in large homes with a lot of carpets. Just make sure you have enough strength to withstand this on ramps as it weighs over 20 lbs.

Where can I buy this?

You can buy this vertically from Amazon for less than $230. And you’ll be eligible for free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.

BUY NOW FROM AMAZON

Amazon also sells an extended warranty of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.

to finish

If you look at the deep cleaning performance alone, this vacuum has got to be one of the best on the market right now.

For people with wall-to-wall carpets, it would be difficult for me not to recommend this product as it has very good agitation and suction power which will deeply clean even shaggy carpets.

An extension hose and tools on the board provide some ability to clean stairs and upholstery but the short hose limits this feature somewhat.

I am concerned though, for the short one-year warranty. When you consider the price and competition, the warranty should be at least 5 years. Competing brands like Shark and Dyson offer 5-year warranties for their slates.

But if you want to give it a try, I won’t stop you because Kenmore is such a high quality brand.

Beware there are some limitations (cannot be used on stairs and short hose) and weighs more than 20 lbs.
