Introduction to ILIFE V8S
ILIFE V8S is a sharp departure from its predecessor, and V7S Pro. In place of the top-loaded box is a tray-type box similar to the A-series robots. This change in design allows for a larger container to be placed.

The interface is straightforward, with just five buttons and an LED screen above it.
I love the color combination of this robot. The black and gray accents convey a futuristic feel to the robot. If you are a sucker for sleek design, this is the robot for you.
At the top, you will see five buttons and an LCD screen. These buttons allow you to access the default cleaning cycle, route mode, and schedule.
There are no doors at the top because the drawer slides in and out from the back.

Flip the robot over, and you’ll see a familiar setup—two side brushes flanking the suction chamber in the middle. These brushes are very long and help them reach debris and direct them toward the suction chamber.

Mobility

The beauty of this bot is that you have two options.
If you want to clean your house completely, just activate the default cleaning mode.
This robot will start cleaning edges and then go in a random direction and then go back to cleaning edges and continue this cycle until the battery runs low.
If you want something a little more efficient, go for path mode where the robot toggles between a predictable back-and-forth cleaning pattern and edge-cleaning until it finishes the entire area.

The remote control will give you access to different modes.

- automated system: This is the default cleaning mode, where the robot automatically calculates the most efficient cleaning path. With the most efficient cleaning pattern, this robot will perform better in cleaning multiple rooms.
- point mode: This mode is similar to the spot cleaning mode where the robot cleans in a spiral pattern to clean a specific area.
- Boundary setting: Select this mode, and the robot will clean the outside of the room. This mode is the same as the edge cleaning mode in other robots.
- MAX mode: Max mode maximizes suction. Use this if you are trying to clean a dirty area.
- Track mode: Similar to the automatic cleaning mode, the robot will toggle between edge cleaning and back and forth cleaning mode. ILIFE says the robot will calculate the areas lost during the cleaning process to make it more efficient.
- Scan mode: Connect the water tank, and the robot will automatically switch to mop mode when the default cleaning button is pressed. During this mode, the robot will scan an area of 7m x 7m and then move to another 7m x 7m quarter.
- Self charging mode: Press the home button, the robot will automatically go to the charging station.
cleaning performance
I was a bit skeptical about how this bot would perform as the A8 didn’t perform well. I was expecting this to have a similar cleaning pattern to the A8, but has a better pattern.
In the first cleaning test, I put 40 grams of oats and powder in to see how this robot would handle it. The results were fantastic. I was able to pick up 38 grams of the 40 or 95% dirt.

Edge cleaning is also another strong point, unlike the A8 where this robot was able to go through the entire perimeter of the room.
Yes, some oats remain but this is due to the charging station which does not allow the robot to come within a certain radius of 2 feet. If ILIFE could upgrade this limitation, this bot would perform better.

The most important part to check regularly is the filter. Out of the box, you’ll get one or two extra filters, but since these are not washable, you’ll need to purchase additional filters.

Does ILIFE V8S Offer Good Value?
ILIFE V7S Pro does not provide the bells and whistles that other options in its price range might offer. unlike Shark ION R85Not compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, so voice cannot be used.
It has better navigation in my opinion not just spinning in a random direction but going in a straight back and forth pattern.
The dust cup is huge at 0.75 liters which is significant for robot vacuums without the restart and resume feature.
Despite its scanning ability, it is effective only on the lightest of messes and is not suitable for large messes. Don’t expect it to repeat what a custom mop does.
