Unlike other robotic vacuums that pull around a wet pad, these machines have a dirty water tank and a row of sprinklers that spray water in front of the drum, allowing them to pick up messes like these better than any hybrid robot sweeper I’ve tested.
These robots have gone through a grueling series of tests on a range of stains and liquid dirt to see how they handle it, and the results have been mixed.
A Quick Look at ILIFE Shinebot W400 vs. W450
I would like to mention before continuing that none of these robots can dump debris due to their extremely low absorption (only less than 1000 Pa). In addition, the design is biased for scanning using a narrow water tank inlet.
So don’t use any of these products to clean up debris. ILIFE states in the manual that you will need to clean the floor first before using this product.
It can pick up random debris here and there, but it’s not intended for sweeping.
I did not do any suction tests because these machines are designed to mop floors, so the suction is not adequate.
But I’ve done a lot of mop testing with a variety of things like red wine, grape juice, and plum juice, which are notoriously difficult to clean with a traditional robot mop.

Introduction to ILIFE W400 and W450
All robot wipes I’ve tested so far are from Fiumi V3And Roborock S5 MaxAnd Roborock S7even Underwear T10 Slide a wet pad over the surface.
No matter what the fancy tech manufacturers put in, these machines are limited in the kind of impurities they can clean up.
These hybrids work best on light to moderate stains on non-sugar drinks such as black coffee or red wine.
This is where ILIFE Shinebot (pun intended) shines. Its ability to clean wet spots and spills is what separates it from these hybrid options.
I wouldn’t classify them as purely robotic mops because they have a roller and sprayers that spray water to help clean dirt and keep the brush clean throughout the cycle.
There are three main options for the W Series: the W400, W400s and W450.
ILIFE Shinebot W400
Shinebot W400 is ILIFE base model without WIFI, so it is not compatible with ILIFE APP.
The lack of WIFI affects what kind of clutter can be cleaned up (more on that later), and is an important deciding factor between it and the more expensive W450.
It comes with a double tank system where clean and dirty water are separated, which I am a big fan of as it prevents cross-contamination.
These containers can hold up to 850 and 900 ml respectively. ILIFE says it’s good for wiping for up to 30 to 40 minutes.
In my experiments, I far exceeded that mark, which is a good thing.
Unfortunately, you cannot open these tanks except for the small inlet (clean tank) and outlet port (dirty tank).
It’s not a problem with a clean water tank, but it could be with a dirty container because dirt will build up.
The good news is that this robot comes with a brush cleaning tool for the job.
Underneath is a wide, cylindrical brush that looks like floor scrubber products like the Bissell Crosswave.
I like that the wheels roll to the side and out of the way, which reduces the risk of tire marks.
Small sprinklers spray water in front of the cylinder, keeping the pad moist and clean as it spins and catches debris.
Behind the roller is a squeegee that picks up excess fluid to reduce streaks afterwards.
It’s a well-thought-out design and the reason why it performed reasonably well with torture tests.
The Shinebot W400s is similar to the W400, but it comes with ILIFE’s proprietary cleaning fluid.
ILIFE Shinebot W450
Next, we’ll take a look at the best-ever W450.
There is not much difference in design and dimensions except for the camera installed on the top.
However, the presence of the camera does not affect the W450’s navigation even in dark conditions, as it relies on the gyroscope as the primary navigation sensor.
Not sure why ILIFE is put in the camera. It might be for mapping, but it doesn’t seem to rely on light as much as other camera-based robots that struggle when lights are off.
The most important upgrade with the W450 is WIFI and its compatibility with the ILIFE app.
At first, I didn’t think much about this optimization, but after scanning experiences, this is a major deciding factor.
The app allows consumers to control the number of cleanings, dryings, water use and brush speed.
Allows up to three passes in clean and dry runs for a total of six passes!
Most robotic wipes can only make one or two strokes.
The Narwal T10 and Roborock S7 can go up to three, but six is absurdly high, making the W450 the most comprehensive robotic wiper available.
What surface can ILIFE W400 and W450 clean?
The ILIFE W400 and W450 are suitable for enclosed and flat surfaces, which means they will work on tile, laminate and vinyl as long as it is flat and airtight.
However, its composition will not work on uneven surfaces or floors with large gaps.
These products are not designed to clean rugs or carpets, and they can’t even climb lighter area rugs, so set expectations accordingly.
Please do not use it on unsealed or untreated surfaces as the liquid may deform and damage floors.
Similarities Between ILIFE Shinebot W400 and W450
There are a lot of similarities between these floor washing robots, and I will review each of them in this section.
1. Design and Dimensions
The ILIFE W400 and W450 share the same basic design, as evidenced by the button and knob placement.
The only difference is that the W450 has the camera sensor on top, but apart from that, everything else is the same.
Both robots have the same physical dimensions measuring 11 inches in length and 4.48 inches in length.
2. Setting the sprayer, roller, and squeegee
The next similarity we will look at is the placement of the sprayer, roller, and mop.
I think it’s these components that separate the Shinebot series from other mop-hybrid robots.
Each has a critical role in how these machines capture chaos.
Sprinklers spray water to help loosen up dry spots and keep the drum clean, while the drums pick up dirt and funnel it toward the intake.
The squeegee scrapes the remaining liquid on the surface and helps reduce streaks to a minimum.
It is similar to dyson vacuum cleaner Soft cylinder, but the ILIFE version is a little more gentle.
The roller has a soft, hard part that helps it absorb liquid and provide excitement for tough stains to clean.
3. Water tank capacity
Both robots have the same double water tank design where clean and dirty water is stored in separate containers.
Like I said in the video, I like this design because it prevents cross-contamination and simplifies maintenance.
The clean water tank can hold up to 850ml, while the dirty water tank has a capacity of 900ml.
4. Remote control
Typical of most ILIFE robotic products, the W400 and W450 come with a remote control out of the box.
These devices provide access to basic features such as running a default scanning cycle or spot cleaning.
If you decide to buy a W450, I highly recommend the ILIFE app as it unlocks advanced features.
5. Charging case
Unfortunately, these robots will require some babysitting as users will have to carry the robot from the charging tray to the area to be scanned and vice versa.
It does not have the traditional charging base that most robotic wipers use.
Depending on what you prefer, this can be positive or negative.
For me, it’s not a big deal because the performance benefits outweigh the hassles of having to put up with it.
These trays are made of plastic, so they’re water-resistant, and the middle is sunken, allowing it to catch any drips or spills from the drum.
Differences between ILIFE W400 and W450
Next, we’ll look at the differences between the W400 and the W450.
1. WIFI and ILIFE APP compatibility
ILIFE W450 is only compatible with ILIFE APP because it is the only WIFI option.
It might not be a big deal, but for these bots, it’s a critical factor.
The app allows consumers to control the number of lanes of the cleaning and drying cycle, and to change the wiping method.
If you use the remote control with the W450, it will scroll and wipe like the W400, eliminating the advantages it provides.
Using the app will unleash its full potential, enabling it to clean wet spills and dry spots better than any robotic mop I’ve tested.
2. Water level and roller speed control
Another benefit of the app is the option to control water flow and reel speed.
I maxed everything out 100% during the experiments, and I suggest doing the same to increase scanning performance.
But you can reduce the water level for lighter tasks to scale.
3. Theme style
I’m not sure how it affects anything, but I’ve noticed that these bots have different thread patterns.
The W400 rolls through the wheel, while the W450 rolls with the wheel similar to a tire pattern.
4. Plug type
The ILIFE W400 (left) comes with a two-prong plug, while the W450 has a European-style three-prong plug.
One of Shinebot’s strengths is its mobility, thanks to the gyroscopes it uses.
Both will travel in straight lines, unlike the old ILIFE bots that only fiddle with pins.
But there is a slight difference between the W400 and the W450.
I’ve noticed that the ILIFE W400 moves in a crisscross pattern.
In contrast, the w450 goes in the same direction for its entirety.
However, the lack of a cross pattern doesn’t seem to affect the performance of the W450 because it can run six passes (three clean laps + three dry laps), negating any advantage the W400 has over it.
scanning performance
I didn’t measure anything because it’s hard to spot cleaning spots or pick up liquid dirt.
So most of the things you see here are visible (before and after the shots).
dry spots
I used grape juice and red wine for this experiment, sprayed it on a test area, and ran these robots on one virtual cycle to see how well they cleaned.
Grape juice is one of the most difficult things to clean, at least for a robotic mop, due to its high sugar content and sticky residue.
Even rotating pad robotic mops (Narwal T10) struggle because they don’t have a sprayer to help break up sugary stains and remove sticky residue.
Both robots performed well, but the ILIFE W450 was clearly the better choice thanks to the more extensive navigation.
In the before and after photo, you can see how the W450 cleaned up this massive mess and left no residue, which is a very positive thing.
One reason for the excellent result is more thorough browsing.
I didn’t use the full six-stroke lane for this, but only half since the floor was visibly clean through the third lane.
ILIFE W400 performed well as it cleaned stains.
What you don’t see in the photo is the sticky residue because it lacks subtlety.
So I had to do a second round to clean the adhesive surface, which it did, but it left wet bits on the surface.
It dried out in the end, but it should be taken into account when choosing between these products.
This is why the WIFI connectivity that the W450 offers is a critical factor – it unlocks clean and dry jobs – something absent with the W400.
wet mess
Next, we’ll look at how these robots handle wet tampering, another critical factor.
I’ve tried both robots on big spills, more than any robotic mop can handle.
Once again, the ILIFE W450 did better at picking up this massive mess and leaving an original deck afterwards.
Here is another before and after picture.
You’ll notice the fluid at the bottom of the image as a lost spot, but that’s not the case.
The MicroSD card in my camera was full so it stopped recording, but it picked up everything when I restarted.
In comparison, the ILIFE W400 does not perform well. While she was picking up the liquid, she didn’t finish the cycle because she had stopped on many occasions, so I stopped her.
The before and after photo shows a clean surface, but it was still sticky, and with a stall issue, I wouldn’t recommend this on big spills.
Not sure why this robot stopped since the W450 didn’t stop in many of the trials I’ve done.
It could be the threads on the tires, the lack of brush speed control, or the water.
But it is a big deciding factor among these products.
Noise level comparison
One of the positive factors of purpose-built robotic wipers is the low noise levels.
The ILIFE W400 and W450 are very quiet based on my sound meter testing.

- ILIFE W450: 58.7 dB
Surprisingly, the ILIFE W450 is quieter than the W400, registering only 58.7 decibels, with the sound meter close to it.
I was using it late at night for cleaning errands and it was barely audible from our room upstairs.
How long does it take for ILIFE W400 and W450 to run?
ILIFE says these robots will run for up to 80 minutes. I think this is the full clean and dry cycle since a clean water tank has a range of 30-40 minutes.
The charging time will be around 3 to 4 hours, but I would suggest keeping it on the charging tray because the battery will drain if it is not kept there.
maintenance
As with all robot wipers, the ILIFE Shinebot W400 and W450 will require some maintenance to function their best.
I will enumerate the critical components to clean up and the intervals.
- cylinder: Rinse twice a week under running water to remove accumulated dirt. ILIFE recommends cleaning them twice a week, but the mileage may vary depending on what you are cleaning.
- Dirty water tank: Empty it out after each scanning cycle. One way to keep it clean is to fill it with clean water after draining and then empty it again. This prevents the sticky substance from accumulating inside. Use the brush to scrub the internal components at least once a week.
- squeegee: Wipe it with a clean microfiber towel if you see any visible buildup.
- Wheels: Use a clean microfiber towel to wipe the wheels
- Suction inlet: Check for any dirt accumulating on the area that got into the dirty water tank and wipe with a rag.
- Dirty water filter: You will see a small filter on the dirty water tank. Rinse this off if you see obvious buildup and reinstall afterwards.
