A lot of “budget” lists will cost close to $100 which is still quite pricey for some people. So I had to look for cheaper options that would still work.
Just today, I stumbled upon this relatively lightweight bagless Hoover called the Sprint QuickVac.
I’d say it’s relatively lightweight because it weighs 12.75 pounds. It’s only about 2.75 pounds heavier than the Air Cordless but at least 3 to 4 pounds lighter than the next lightest.
This will not only clean the floors vertically, but also clean the upholstery.
It comes with a 7ft flexible hose where you can attach the wand and various tools to clean above-floor areas such as curtains, tables, chairs, baseboards, etc.
So this is essentially a 2-in-1 vacuum but with some limitations.
Before we continue, let me remind you that this vacuum cleaner is not cordless. It has a 23 ft power cord.
Quick look at the features
- Multi-cyclone technology uses “cyclones” to separate finer particles of dirt before they reach the filter which theoretically require less frequent rinsing.
- 23ft power cord (without rewiring)
- 5 feet hose and a total of 7 feet above floor cleaning range
- It has 3 height adjustment modes – low, medium and high that can clean different types of floors
- Two filter systems – a washable main filter plus a secondary HEPA filter that prevents microscopic dust from escaping
- Performance check indicator that lets you know when to clean the filter
- Comes with an extension wand and a built in brush / crevice tool
- As for the breasts, it is light in weight, weighing only 12.5 lbs
- It has a HEPA filtration system at the end of the dirt tray that prevents microscopic dust from escaping
- HEPA washable filters will save you money in the long run
- 12.5 inch wide cleaning path
- Versatile – Comes with a wand plus crevice and brush tools to clean corners and crevices
- Too cheap to upright
- 23 feet long power cord
- small cup for dirt
- No rewind wire
- Although it has a hose, it is relatively short at only 5 feet plus the extension wand doesn’t provide much reach
What do you expect from a Hoover Sprint QuickVac?
Hoover says the Spring QuickVac will have minimal suction loss because it uses multi-cyclone technology that essentially keeps fine dirt away from the filter when the vacuum cleaner is running so that it maintains suction performance even when the dirt cup is full of dirt.
They call it a cyclone because the air moves like a cyclone around the filter.
While it has an extension stick where you can attach the 2-in-1 crevice and brush tool.
It lacks a small robotic tool that can be useful for cleaning pet hair on upholstery or carpeted stairs.
Attachments and accessories
To help meet the above floor cleaning needs, Hoover comes with one attachment that you can attach to the wand – the brush/crevice combo. So don’t expect this to be effective in cleaning pet hair on upholstery.
The power cord is 23 feet long but doesn’t have any wire that can be rewound but it does have a cord holder where you can wrap the cord around.
There are two filters inside. The primary filter is located on top of the dirt container. You will need your eyeball at least once a week to see if it needs cleaning.
Some consumers have mentioned that they need to wash it every two weeks or so, but that depends on how much you use this and how much the area is dusted. To remove the primary filter, the first thing you need to do is remove the case.
Do this by pressing a lever located on top of the handle.
Once the dirt cup is removed, open the top cover by pulling another lever on the front, pull the filter out and rinse it under running water. Let it air dry for 24 hours before putting it back on.
There is also a post-engine HEPA filter at the bottom of the dirt bin. This is also washable according to the manual.
It’s not very difficult to remove but as I’ve said several times, you’ll have to empty this out a lot if you’re cleaning a large area.
This vertical stand comes with a one year warranty only.
bare floor performance
To use this on the bare floor, simply set the dial low. You’ll find this dial at the base of the vacuum cleaner.
Judging by the reviews, the suction is great and works well on hard surfaces because it has a motorized brush that picks up smaller pieces of dirt plus an add on stick + slit/brush tool for larger pieces of dirt like paper clips or paper clips.
The flexible hose is thick enough to handle larger portions of the elements, but my rage here is the relatively short 5-foot hose and wand. It won’t get very far and limits the areas this machine can clean.
The other two settings I used earlier are the medium and high and both are for carpeting.
Even if Hoover says it will clean all types of carpets, reviews say otherwise. One consumer said it cleaned a decently thick carpet but that you would need to go through over time a few times.
This machine is not designed for large homes due to the small dirt cup.
There is also a performance check indicator on top of the dirt cup, make sure it’s green, if it’s not, you’ll have to rinse the filter to maintain performance.
Don’t expect to perform a deep cleaning though.
Use it as a spot cleaner in high traffic areas around your house (if your house has carpets).
Pet hair removal
This upright position will do a good job of picking up pet hair because it has a motorized brush roll. But it will only clean pet hair on floors.
Hoover does not include any pet hair attachment or any motorized brush tool that you can attach to an extension wand to remove hair on carpeted upholstery or stairs.
This is not suitable for you if you have a lot of pets because of the small dirt cup.

What do consumers say?
This lightweight straightener has approached 300 reviews on Amazon and most of them are positive.
Although it’s an economical vacuum, consumers say the suction is sufficient enough to clean bare floors and low-pile carpeting.
On a high-pile carpet, a motorized brush will struggle to dig deep and pick up dirt between strands. One consumer mentioned that she had to wipe her thick rug a few times just to clean everything.
People also like this because it is light in weight and allows them to carry it up and down stairs with ease.
So in essence it will save you that money as well.
The downside is the short flexible hose and power cord. Although the hose is 5 feet long, pulling on it too much will tip this broom.
While the power cord could have been 5 feet longer according to some consumers.
The dirt cup is on a small side so it doesn’t hold much dirt. You will need to vacuum more often in larger homes.
Finally, you get what you pay for for quality. It will not have the same quality as Dyson or Millie because the quality of the plastic is not good.
Some people have complained about this failure within a few months but this is the risk you will have to take when buying a vacuum cleaner in this price range. If you fail within a year, just call Hoover and ask for warranty.
In my opinion, this vacuum is a bargain for people who live in small homes or apartments with either a bare floor or a low pile carpet.
It can also clean throw rugs without any problems. With the flexible hose, you can use it inside cars and don’t expect higher performance than the finished type.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy this upright vacuum cleaner on Amazon for less than $60. And you’ll be eligible for free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.
They also sell extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.
This upright vacuum would be great for people looking for a quick, budget vacuum to use in their small home.
Despite being upright, the Sprint QuickVac is light enough to move stairs up and down while still maintaining enough suction power to clean messes around the house.
The hose and extension wand are a great addition to the features despite being short a few feet in my opinion.
This will be best used as a cleaner for high-traffic areas of your home such as the living room or dining room if you are home with wall-to-wall carpeting.
Now if you are home with only hardwood floors this can be your basic vacuum cleaner just remember this has a small can of dirt so you will need to vacuum it often.
As with all cheap vacuums, quality can be an issue as most components are plastic.
Some consumers have already complained about the lack of quality. But I think these units are lemony products as with all manufactured electronic products there is what you call a failure rate where a small percentage of manufactured products fail for one reason or another.
This is the risk you will have to take when buying vacuums in this price range.
If a lightweight cordless vacuum cleaner is too expensive for you, take a long look at it.
