After launching the Hoover Cruise just a few months ago, they acquired two new product lines – the Fusion and React series.
To be more specific, we’ll be looking at the REACT stick vacuum series in this review. I’ve already covered the status quo and you can read about it here.
The React series is a brand new series from Hoover An obvious upgrade on the Cruze had several drawbacks.
It has a brand new battery that will last up to 27 minutes, new LED headlights and a suite of tools that will clean your entire home.
We’ll compare the four different variants in this review – the BH52300, BH53220, BH53210, and BH53230PC.
All of these have the same engine and performance and are very similar Dyson V6 and V8The difference lies in the accompanying tools.
Features at a glance:
- All Hoover REACT vacuum cleaners come with FloorSense technology that automatically detects the floor surface for improved cleaning
- ONE PWR Li-ion battery provides up to 30 minutes of run time
- WindTunnel Surge technology captures dirt, dust and pet hair
- The fast charging system fully recharges the battery in about 3 hours
- 3 year engine warranty
- finger controls
- up to 10 feet
- rotating head
- Weighs only 7.3 pounds
- Dust cup capacity 0.62L
- LED headlights
Positives

- Lightweight under 8 pounds
- LED headlights help track dirt in areas that don’t have much light

What to expect from the Hoover React Stick Vacuum Cleaner?
REACT is a brand new line from Hoover that is a combination of stick and upright vacuums.
Much like the Dyson cordless series, the REACT Stick uses a similar design to a motor on one end and a ground tool on the other end connected to a removable tube.
This design allows you to use this as a handheld vacuum cleaner.
Hoover has made several improvements that they hope will bridge the gap between them and Dyson’s market leaders.
Table of Contents
FloorSense technology
These sensors located at the bottom of the main cleaning head automatically detect any change in floor type and automatically adjust the brush speed.
This automatically helps improve performance when moving from bare floor to carpet, or vice versa.
When cleaning carpets, the brush roller rotates faster and slows down as it moves to the bare floor. In a sense, this is a hoover that reacts to the type of surface you’re cleaning and adjusts the settings for you. get it?
ONE PWR
This cordless device is powered by a single PWR Lithium-ion battery which according to Hoover will last 3 times longer than the leading brands. According to reviews, the longest I’ve read this vacuum was around 30 minutes which isn’t exactly three times longer when compared to a Dyson or Shark.
Wind wave in tunnels
This is equivalent to a Hoover Dyson cyclonic filtration system capable of capturing dirt, dust and pet hair.
fast charging technology
Hoover uses fast charging technology to charge the lithium-ion battery in about 3 hours. That’s nearly 30 minutes less than a Dyson V8.
Note that you will need to remove the battery to recharge this. You cannot charge this with a wall-mounted bracket.
wall mount
As this broom is not a stand alone it comes with a wall mountable stand for easy storage with room to store some other tools like crevice/brush.
Unfortunately, this bracket will not charge your Hoover unlike the Dyson V8 and Cordless V6.
Hoover dashboard
At the rear of the engine, you’ll have easy access to the battery level, floor sensing indicator, and mode button.
large earthen cup
Hoover calls this the XL Dirt Cup. To be more specific, it can hold about 0.62 liters of dry dirt. It won’t give you a straight capacity but is a decent size.
a program
It also comes with a Hoover smartphone app that allows users to monitor vacuum status such as battery life and assist with required maintenance tasks.
different variables
There are a total of four different types of REACT stick: BH52300 or Whole Home Cordless, BH53220 or Whole Home Cordless Pet, BH53210 or Whole Home Cordless Advantage and the BH53230PC which is the top of the line variant.
All of these variants have the same motor, battery, and dirt cup. Each will differ in the tools that come with it.
The BH53200 comes with:
- slit tool
- dust broom
- pivot extension tool
- wand tool storage
- Charger
- wall mount
BH53220 comes with:
- slit tool
- dust broom
- pet upholstery tool
- pivot extension tool
- Stair Powered Tool
- wand tool storage
- Charger
- wall mount
The 53210 comes with:
- slit tool
- dust broom
- upholstery tool
- pivot extension tool
- wand tool storage
- Charger
- wall mount
And last but not least, the BH53230PC comes with the following:
- Deluxe Crevice Tool
- dust broom
- pet upholstery tool
- pivot extension tool
- Stair Powered Tool
- wand tool storage
- Charger
- wall mount
bare floor performance
The REACT Series Stick Vacuum Cleaner comes with two brush roller settings – one for bare floors and one for carpet.
On exposed ground, the brush cylinder slows down which reduces the risk of it being kicked up by large pieces of debris.
It won’t perform as well as the soft cylindrical brush found on the Dyson V8 Absolute and Shark IONFlex when it comes to cleaning large bits of dirt but the performance should be decent.
It has a raised part in the middle of the cleaning head which will absorb large dirt particles.
However, a slowly rotating brush roll will do wonders at picking up dust and with LED headlights, it will be easy to track the dust under the furniture.
carpet performance
In carpet mode, the motorized brush rotates at a faster rate resulting in increased agitation.
Since this is a cordless vacuum, don’t expect a deep clean at the Miele level but consumers have been very pleased with the performance of this product.
It is able to pick up dirt and pet hair on the carpet but again it won’t clean as deeply.
In between cleanups, this is a great tool.
pet hair
If you have pets at home, you will have to choose the ‘Pet’ option which is BH53220.
It comes with the same main cleaning head as the others but has a small turbo brush to clean pet hair on upholstery.

Customer Reviews
There have been a lot of happy consumers who have praised the cleaning performance of this vacuum cleaner.
One consumer said It is well designed and very sturdy. It picked up well on both the bare floor and carpet but the floor feel technology wasn’t perfect.
On carpets it may take a while to adjust (sometimes it doesn’t work) but it’s not a big deal because you can manually control the brush roll but that’s something to keep in mind.
Great for pets
Pet owners were among the happy customers who said it picked up a lot of pet hair but there were also complaints of hair clogging inside the box.
Speaking of the dirt bin, even if Hoover says it has an “XL” cup of dirt, it still pales in comparison to a dirt bin that can easily hold more than a liter. This only holds about 0.65 liters.
Some potential issues
Those who expect straight line performance should be realistic as this will not match it in terms of capacity and performance. But it makes up for it with the versatility it brings to the table.
LED lights are not as bright as some had hoped.
Another potential problem is tools that do not have any locks but rely only on friction. Unlike the Dyson where each attachment clicks into place, this vacuum cleaner does not have this feature.
Runtime can be up to 35 minutes but you will have to remove the battery and connect it to a separate charge because you cannot charge the vacuum cleaner using a wall-mounted bracket.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy this directly from Hoover.com or from Amazon.com where you can take advantage of free two-day shipping if you sign up for Amazon Prime.
Currently, though, Amazon Hoover has only two variants available While Hoover has all four.
to finish
Hoover REACT offers similar versatility as Dyson But in cheapest price So it is a viable alternative as it is a capable cleaner. But don’t expect the same level of sophistication found in Dyson.
It has a myriad of interchangeable tools that make it quite versatile with an LED headlight to help track dust. It is an application that helps connect to the vacuum cleaner and informs you of battery status, usage time and registration for Hoover for warranty purposes.
There are four different types each with a different set of tools to suit different needs.
