Hoover Platinum Collection UH30010COM Review: Two Products in One

Hoover Platinum Collection UH30010COM Review: Two Products in One

Posted on May 22, 2022 by admin

When shopping for a full-size vacuum cleaner, you have to choose one type over another. Either choose a tray or upright.

The Platinum UH30010COM from Hoover changes all that because it is literally two products in one package.

It comes with a full-size upright capable of deep cleaning carpets and a vacuum cleaner to clean everything else.

This is a vacuum cleaner that is packaged so that nearly 100% of allergens are trapped inside. So it is a great choice for people who suffer from respiratory diseases such as asthma.

Plus the bags aren’t that expensive – a pack of two will cost just under $10.

This is just a small investment you are making for your health.

The case portion is also filled.

Let’s see what’s in store for people who buy this vertical and canister cleaner and what to expect.

What do you expect from Hoover Platinum Collection?

When you buy this you will get 2 products out of the box. First, a lightweight upright vacuum cleaner that weighs just 11 pounds.

It’s as light as a cordless stick vacuum cleaner but has a cord so suction shouldn’t be a problem.

The second product is a tray that allows you to clean over floors.

Comes with 3 attachments – crevice tool, brush and floor.

The main floor tool does not have any motorized brush, so it will not be effective on carpets. This tool is suitable for bare floors.

Features

A great feature in the vertical position is the fingertip controls that you don’t usually find on these types of vacuum cleaners.

The struts mostly use the foot control located at the back of the floor tool where you use your foot to push to turn on or off. Foot controls are not difficult to use, but they can be an inconvenience to some people.

Attachments and accessories

The box comes with a four-prong tool, brush, and floor, as well as a 5-foot flexible hose.

rope length

The pole’s power cord is 35 feet long while the enclosure’s power cord is approximately 25 feet long. They both don’t have any wire to rewind, so you’ll have to tidy it up by hand after using it – that’s the downside to a lightweight vacuum cleaner.

Filter cleaning

Since both bags are used there will be no filters to clean. All you have to do is replace the bags.

Guarantee

Hoover backed this with a 5-year warranty.

bare floor performance

While the WindTunnel is great for carpeting, you can’t turn off the motorized brush.

This is a major concern for me because it can scratch hard surfaces. There is no big ban for homes with hardwood floors or expensive linoleum although Hoover claims the brush doesn’t actually touch the ground.

In terms of its pure cleaning power, it’s great on bare floor surfaces and will pick up almost everything through a doorway.

The canister part also has a floor tool and has a brush underneath which is great if the area you’re cleaning is dusty.

It would be great for tiles especially cleaning grooves. This will clean these areas.

carpet performance

This is where the WindTunnel system shines – it is capable of deep cleaning carpets with a combination of powerful suction from a 5 amp motor and motorized brush. Reviews have confirmed this, with nearly a thousand consumers on Amazon satisfied with its performance on carpets.

The great part about this is that it doesn’t weigh a ton—just 11 pounds, so moving this around shouldn’t be a problem. It doesn’t have any self-propelled feature, so there will be some resistance when pushed or pulled on a plush rug.

Don’t worry about filling the bags quickly because they are bulky. It will last at least a few months depending on the size of your home.

upholstery performance

This is where the canister comes in handy. You can use the crevice tool and brush to clean loose dust and debris on the upholstery.

Note that this does not come with the pet hair tool, so you will need to use the brush tool to clean the pet hair.

Pet hair removal

The vertical base will work very well for brushing pet hair on bare floors and carpets because it has very good suction and a motorized brush.

Don’t forget to clean the motorized brush after every two or three uses so that the performance is not affected.

The case does not come with a pet hair tool attachment, so you will need to use the brush tool for this on the upholstery.

Customer Reviews

Over 1,600 consumers have left a review on Amazon alone and most of them give it 5 stars because of the great performance especially on carpets.

Great on the carpet

The straight shaft will perform best on carpets as consumers say it picks up everything even in a plush carpet from pet hair to sand.

One reviewer even mentioned that when he cleans his carpets with carpet cleaner he doesn’t need to change the water as often (only two to three times) before it becomes clear.

No brush on/off feature

Since you can’t turn off the motorized brush, there is some concern about whether or not this will scratch bare floor surfaces. But consumers say the brush roll doesn’t touch the ground so it won’t scratch it.

Big debris may be scattered

Another concern about this is if you brush on larger debris such as biscuits or cheerios, the brush tends to throw these types of debris all over the place making it more difficult to clean.

One solution to this is to use a canister with a crevice tool to clean up these types of debris.

B rating from Good Housekeeping

Good housekeeping gave it a B+ rating saying that while it did well at picking up dirt built into carpets, it performed poorly on bare floors.

Consumers also loved the way the HEPA filter and bag keep all of the allergens inside the vacuum cleaner. Although there are some complaints about the smell.

But Hoover says you’ll need to air dry in an upright position with the beanbag open because in damp areas mold tends to build up inside.

Don’t forget to empty the beanbag inside as part of maintenance.

The rectum also won some love from the elderly because of its lightness. Despite this, it still works well compared to brands like Oreck.

Although consumers say they are able to use this on stairs, for the most part it can be a problem if you try.

Lots of consumers also liked that it came with a vacuum cleaner because it allowed them to clean over floor areas. The shoulder strap was a nice addition because it freed their hands. Although it was noisy, it still did its job.

some issues

There have also been complaints that the vacuum cleaner bag is too small and fills up very quickly.

It is also important to note that if you are cleaning small area rugs, it is best for you to use the canister part because the vertical suction is too strong for these types of rugs.

In general, most consumers who rated this highly were carpet flooring and need something mild to deeply clean the carpet.

Automatic height adjustment means you don’t need to bend over, turn a knob or press a switch. Just let the vacuum cleaner do all the work. For the price, you will get two good products that are good value for money in my opinion.

Where can I buy this?

You can buy this upright vacuum cleaner on Amazon for less than $245. And you’ll be eligible for free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.

Amazon also sells extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.

to finish

This is a great product if your home has mostly carpeted floors because that’s where the WindTunnel system works best.

The vertical shaft has a 35-foot power cord, which means this will come in handy even in large homes.

As with most rolls, you will have a hard time cleaning stairs due to their bulky size.

But that is where the case comes in but the lack of a robotic tool in it limits cleaning performance on carpeted stairs.

I would also like to remind you that the motorized brush roller cannot be turned off. So if you have expensive laminate or linoleum floors inside your home, I wouldn’t recommend this to you.

The Shark Rotator Lift-Away will be more suitable for this because it has a brush roll on/off switch.

If you’re older and looking for a lightweight vertical, take a look at this one because it weighs just 11 pounds—it’s too light for an upright, it doesn’t spin like a Dyson.

But it’s cheaper, about 50% cheaper and still comes with a 5 year warranty which is very important.
