Comparison between Dyson V7 and V11

Dyson V7 vs. Dyson V11

Posted on May 14, 2022May 26, 2022 by admin

We’ll be looking at two Dyson products in each spectrum – the V7 and the V11.

The V7 is currently Dyson’s entry-level choice (along with the V6) and is the least expensive option, while the V11 is the flagship variant with the latest technology and cutting-edge power.

I have tested these products extensively and will reveal the results in this review.

First, here’s an overview of the Dyson V7 vs. the V11

Introduction to Dyson V7 and V11 Cordless Vacuum Cleaners

The Dyson V7 and V11 both bring something unique to the table.

With the V7, you get a lightweight, stick-free vacuum cleaner that moves easily around furniture. It is something you will want if you live inside a small house due to its compact structure and smooth orientation.

The V11 Torque Drive provides suction and plenty of it. While it’s bigger in size, it makes up for it by being one of the stickiest carpet cleaners out there.

If you need something capable of deep cleaning carpets, the V11 Torque is a good alternative.

Dyson V7 MotorHead: Less expensive, lightweight, and great for small homes

Dyson V7

except Dyson V6The V7 . engine It is the lightest wireless product available from Dyson.

Weighs only 5.45 lbs with extension tube and main spout. One thing I’ve noticed with this broom is the lightness of the handle.

Arm fatigue will not be a big problem due to the small motor and battery. This model is lighter than the V8 and slightly shorter. Moving it around hard floors or carpet will be smooth thanks to the responsive and light steering.

It turns sharply, and you can avoid furniture with a minimum of turns.

However, the smaller battery means it won’t run like the V7. In tests, it ran for up to 32 minutes with just the crevice tool and just under 28 minutes with the main brush.

Please note that there is V7 . Multiple Options Available with different tools. I have a Motorhead that only has a direct drive attachment, which is excellent for cleaning carpets.

If you want to take advantage of the V7’s compact design on hard floors, choose the V7 Fluffy.

Dyson V11 . torque motor: Great for deep cleaning carpets

The V11 engine is proof that James Dyson was serious when he said they would focus research and development on wire-free products with the release of the Dyson V10.

This model is not just an update to the V10 but a complete upgrade.

It has more power and lasts longer From Dyson V10This makes it an excellent choice for cleaning dirt from carpets.

For people looking for a stick vacuum cleaner that can clean upright carpets minus the rope – Torque Engine V11 Something to consider.

This product was the best of all the cordless products I tested for deep cleaning carpets at 114%.

The reorganized dust box enables more dirt to be held – up to 0.77 liters or 36.92% more than the V7.

If you live in a big house, the Dyson V11 is the better alternative due to its range and high dirt volume.

What is the difference between Dyson v7 and v11?

Here is a summary of the differences between the Dyson V7 and V11.

  1. air flow: The Dyson V11 has up to 34.23% more airflow than the V7 at the highest power setting using the main nozzle. This difference will be more pronounced when cleaning carpets where the V11 excels.
  2. dirt volume: The V11 engine has a larger dirt capacity – up to 0.77 liters, while the V7 can take in only 0.53 liters.
  3. battery: Dyson put a larger capacity battery in the V11 – which can run for up to 74 minutes – more than twice the running time of the V7.
  4. Power settings: The V7 has only two, while the V11 has three power options.
  5. Dynamic load sensor: This feature adjusts the suction based on the surface. If there is more resistance (eg carpet), it automatically increases airflow.

Interface comparison

Next, we’ll look at how these spaces differ with their interface. Dyson V7 is a “mini” version of V8; Thus, it retains the same trigger and slide switch to start the engine and switch between power modes.

The Dyson V11 still has the trigger, but it eliminates the slide switch. In its place is a digital display behind the engine with a single button to switch between the three different settings – Low, Auto and Max.

Dyson V11 LCD Screen

It’s fully colourful, dynamic, and provides real-time information about battery percentage, time remaining, potential error codes, and more.

I like that it shows the time remaining, so you know when to charge it.

V11 screen is only available in Torque and huge size motor and options. It won’t be the same display on the less expensive Animal variant which only displays icons instead of dynamic graphics.

Operator

Dyson V7 vs V11 trigger

Both models have similar trigger mechanisms for engine ignition. I don’t feel any difference when it comes to the response. Press the trigger, and the motor will fire immediately.

Unfortunately, neither product has a trigger lock, so you’ll have to hold it down to get the power down.

Battery and runtime

The V7 houses a 2100mAh battery with a stated runtime of 30 minutes. In contrast, the V11 has a battery with a larger capacity of 3600 mAh with a runtime of up to 60 minutes.

How long do these blanks work? I tested it, and the results exceeded the claims.

Here are the results.

The V11 engine lasted, in my tests, up to 74 minutes with the main nozzle. And up to 71 minutes with the crevice tool. Please note that these are all results in the low setting.

V11 will run for About 18 to 19 minutes using the auto setting. I think this is the best carpet setting if you want to deep clean and still cover a decent area.

The V11 engine captured 99% of the sand on the carpet in the auto setting.

The V7 does not have the extent of the V11. It only lasted about 33 minutes with the crevice tool and less than 28 minutes with the cleaning head.

If you want to use the V7 for deep cleaning of carpets, you will have to use the maximum setting, which shortens the runtime to 7 minutes.

How do you clean the Dyson V7 and V11?

Cordless vacuum cleaner like V7 and V11 have the same functions. Each one relies on different interchangeable tools that enable them to clean different areas of your home.

The V11 has more options in that aspect, with five additional cleaning tools to clean areas like sofas, air vents, chairs and more.

You won’t get many tools with the V7 MotorHead because it only comes with crevice and combination tools.

If you want more attachments, choose the more expensive V7 Absolute available on the Dyson website.

Realize that the primary function of stick brooms is to clean floors. For people who want something that doubles as a handheld device, the V7 would be the best choice because it’s lighter and smaller.

Cleaning performance comparison

Next, let’s move on to the results of the cleaning tests. First, here are the results.

The V11 engines are above the overall results, but there is a caveat. The lack of a soft-roll attachment hinders the V7’s ability to clean medium to large debris on hard surfaces.

It struggles with cleaning large quantities of Quaker oats, and big things like Cheerios or fruit rings won’t go through the low clearance of the nozzle.

But shoveling other test residues like coffee, quinoa, pet litter, and sand wasn’t a problem.

One of the advantages of the V11 engine is the presence of two gates that are adjustable to accommodate large debris.

Combined with the high air flow, it is possible to use the torque drive head on hard floors.

The lack of a cushion increases the risk of scratching wood floors.

The V7 does better at picking up surface debris on the carpet than the V11, which is a surprise.

Which is better for cleaning hard floors?

The results showed that the V11 was better for cleaning hard surfaces thanks to its two adjustable gates.

In the clip above, you can see that the V11 had a cleaner aisle as it had excellent suction and gates.

The V7 Motorhead could clean up most of the debris, but it left some of it behind.

It struggles with loads of items like Quaker oats.

V11 will not have this problem since it has more permission. You can use it on hard floors, and it will pick up dirt.

None of these tools are ideal for hard floors, especially a torque motor that vibrates more than a V7 nozzle.

If you plan to use either of these on hard floors, I recommend getting the Fluffy version or the tool itself.

Sand test on hard floor

Cleaning sand on hard floors will not be a problem for the Dyson V7 and V11 engines.

  • Dyson V11: 99.4%
  • Dyson V7: 99.2%

Only 0.2% difference. Even if the V7 scores lower, I would still give it an advantage because it captured most of it on the front pass.

The V7 uses a felt material behind the main brush, which gives it better grip than the V11 despite the lower airflow.

Dyson V7 and V11 side by side nozzle

Dyson V11 nozzle (left) dwarfs V7.

In contrast, the V11 didn’t capture everything on the front pass. It left a trail of sand but was picked up in subsequent passes.

Edge cleaning

Cleaning edges are also close with a slight edge of the V11 because it picks up more in fewer passes. The V7 also picked up most of the pet’s droppings, but it took longer.

Here’s a before-and-after shot of the V7 in our Edge Cleanup test.

Edge cleaning Dyson V7

Here’s v11.

Carpet cleaning comparison

Now, let’s take a look at how good the V7 and V11 clean carpets are.

One surprise for me in this comparison is how well the V7 is able to pick up surface debris on carpet – it’s better than Dyson V8 and V11.

Again, the reason is the felt material that passes dirt into the suction chamber, which is not found in the V11.

The V11 compensates for this with its massive airflow. I hope Dyson addresses this in the future and incorporates a wiper seal behind the brush roll for its newer products.

However, in our deep cleaning tests, the V11 outperformed the V7. Higher airflow and large brush roll allow better cleaning of built-in dirt. She was able to capture 114%.

It sounds crazy, but the extra sand is from the leftover debris left by other vacuums in our various cleaning tests.

This proves the V11’s ability to sweep anything embedded under carpet threads, such as an upright.

Big wreck comparison

The V11 has the advantage of cleaning large items such as Cheerios and Fruit rings due to the adjustable gates.

The lack of clearance hinders the V7 from picking up the big stuff.

But on carpets, it’s different as both vacuums will pick up these types of trash as there is more on that surface.

Hair wrap comparison

In this experiment, I spread 1 gram of a human hair 5 to 7 inches apart on hard floors and carpet to see how much to roll on the brush roll.

The Dyson V11 was virtually flowless in this test, with virtually no hair wrapping the brush on any surface.

Dyson V11 hair wrap

In contrast, the V7 did not perform well. One reason is the smaller brush, which is also not resistant to tangles.

It was better at resisting tangles on hard floors versus carpet.

Dyson V7 Hard Floor Roller
Dyson V7 roll on carpet

Some hair got into the dust container, but a lot of hair got stuck on the brush.

Tools out of the box

You will get more attachments with Dyson V11 . torque motor V7 Motorhead vs.

This is what you will get.

Dyson Tools V11

  1. small turbo brush
  2. Soft dusting brush
  3. slit tool
  4. collection tool
  5. The stubborn brush tool: It has stiffer bristles than the kit and a soft dusting brush, making it great for brushing pet hair.
  6. stick storage clip
  7. docking station

By comparison, the V7 Motorhead has these tools.

Dyson Tools V7

  1. motorhead
  2. slit tool
  3. collection tool
  4. extension stick
  5. docking station

One option to get more tools is to get the V7 Absolute available on the Dyson website. It has the same set of tools Like the absolute V8but more expensive than Motorhead.

Are Dyson v7 and v11 attachments interchangeable?

The short answer is yes. Here’s a little more info – all attachments from V7 to V11 are interchangeable.

You can use the Dyson V11 attachment on the V7 and vice versa without any problems.

One problem is the price. It is very expensive to buy original Dyson tools, but this information can be useful.

For example, you want to use the V11 on hard floors and you don’t have access to the Fluffy accessory. You can buy V10 Fluffy Tool, it fits V11.

Can you replace the Dyson V7 and V11 battery?

Yes, you can replace the batteries for these two vacuums. The V7 has the same bolt pattern as the V8. So check out this article on Step by step guide.

Previous versions of the V11 Torque came with a bolt-on battery, which means you have to loosen the bolts to remove them. Newer versions (also available on Amazon) have a clickable battery that slides when the red lever is pressed.

It’s easier to remove the battery in the V11 because you don’t have to loosen the screws.

Dust basket comparison

The Dyson V11 has a larger dirt capacity and can hold up to 0.77 liters – a 36.92% difference! People who live in a larger house should consider the V11 rather than the V7 because it goes further than that before emptying it.

Both spaces have a healthy regimen that I love. However, there will be a slight difference in how the contents are disposed of.

With the V11, you aim the dustbin at the trash can and push the red lever. In turn, you can place the V7 container over the bowl and pull the red lever up.

Some people prefer the V7 because removing the tube is not necessary to empty it. Regardless, I love the design of both.

Filter comparison

The V7 Motorhead has one filter – the pre-engine filter. The V7 Allery or V7 Fluffy has a HEPA post-engine filter if you need better filtration.

Dyson V7 . Filter

The V11 Torque Drive also has a single filter, which combines a pre- and post-engine filter. It’s located behind the engine, which prevents allergens from seeping through the exhaust, which is not the case for the V7 Motorhead.

You can see a difference in the surface area that the V11 filter has – more than the V10 filter.

Dyson V10 and V11 engine filter

The V11 filter (right) has a larger mass than the V10.

I understand that these are “lifetime” filters, so there is no need to replace them. However, I would suggest purchasing additional filters to reduce downtime when washing them.

noise comparison

Having a larger engine makes the Dyson V11 the noisiest option. Check the table below for more details.

Also, the V7’s cleaning doesn’t vibrate as much as the V11’s, which is felt more on hard surfaces.

I recommend the Fluffy tool for cleaning hard floors because it does not vibrate.

Work environment comparison

Both vacuums move well, thanks to Dyson’s excellent steering. However, the small size of the V7 engine gives it the advantage because you will feel less tired when using it for longer periods.

The V11’s larger motor and battery add more weight to the top. And there will be more arm fatigue, especially if you switch to the maximum setting, as it is difficult to push forward due to the suction.

Additionally, the difference in size and weight makes the V7 better for manual use. Its compact size fits into more areas than the V11’s taller frame. I prefer the V11 to cleaning my car.

The V11 will perform well outdoors. I love it for cleaning mattresses with its extra absorbency and uptime.

maintenance

All Dyson vacuums will require some level of maintenance to operate effectively over the long term.

You will need to do the following.

  1. Clean the filters: Wash the filters once a month (or more often, depending on how much you use them). Dyson recommends rinsing with water and nothing else. Avoid detergents as they can degrade the material, and don’t scrub with a brush.
  2. Arrange the main brush: Hair and other contaminants can get trapped on brushes and hubs. Regularly check the roll of your primary brush for any hairs that might become tangled.
  3. Empty dust container: Make sure to empty the dustpan after every cleaning job. Keeps filters free of contaminants and prevents dust mites that may breed indoors.

Dyson vacuum cleaners are top rated, so buy spare parts like filters or batteries It won’t be a problem. You can buy original Dyson components or aftermarket brands if you want to save a few dollars.

These parts are available at online stores such as Amazon, Walmart, or eBay.

Which one offers the best value?

The answer will depend on your needs. If you live in a small home, the V7 would be a great choice because it’s compact and easier to store. It is much cheaper than the V11, but make sure you select the correct option for your floor type.

Get a V7 Motorhead (or Allergy) if you live in a home with carpets and V7 Thin for hard surfaces.

The V11 is best suited to larger carpeted homes thanks to the larger battery and dust box.

It’s the best cordless vacuum cleaner I’ve tested for cleaning carpets, and it’s capable of cleaning embedded dirt. Just V11 Huge The Riccar Wireless matches it, but these options are more expensive.

If you do not mind the lack of dynamic screen, the file V11 Animal It is a good alternative because it’s cheaper.

Verdict: Is the Dyson v11 better than the v7?

The Dyson V11 is better than the V7 in terms of suction, coverage and dirt volume, but it is more expensive.

You may not need these features in a small home. But they are essential in a home with more space and wall-to-wall carpeting.

To help you decide, here are some factors you need to take into consideration.

5 reasons to choose Dyson V7

  1. compressed size: The V7 is lighter and easier to maneuver than the V11, making it more suitable for small homes.
  2. least expensive: Depending on the variant, you could easily save a few hundred dollars with V7.
  3. Best as a handheld device: The V7’s compact frame makes it more portable than the taller and bulkier V11. You can use it in tight areas with fewer restrictions.
  4. Not noisy: A smaller motor will make less noise.
  5. Easier to store: Another advantage of the V7’s compact design is a lower vertical footprint.

4 reasons to choose Dyson V11

  2. Best for large homes: This model is best for cleaning large homes due to its long runtime and larger dirt volume.
  3. Legitimate deep cleaning broom: It is one of the few cordless vacuums that can pick up built-in dirt. Get it if you want a wire-free carpet cleaning product.
