Dyson V15 Detect Review and Test

Posted on May 13, 2022May 23, 2022 by admin

When Dyson announced that it had finished R&D on the rolls (after the V10 was launched), I thought it was just crazy. But later models prove they mean business. The V15 Detect is the latest version of Dysonand they were able to give it More power and performance But is it worth the high price? We will find out in this review.

More power than the massive V11 engine

Dyson V15.0

Dyson V15 Detector Review

Unlike the Outsize, which is a jumbo version of the Torque Drive, the V15 is a true upgrade with Introducing many new technologies. in the foreground is green laser light On the thinner slim supplement – which is my favourite. Next is the piezo sensor that Counts and measures dust particles It is carried over on the LCD screen. Dyson somehow manages to increase the suction more than the bulk. Combined with the improved brush roll, the V15 brush does better cleaning of carpets.

Introduction to Dyson V15 Detect

After Dyson revealed V11 Torque Engine Huge Size, I’m not what upgrades they would put aside from adding more power. But they managed to improve these two models Significantly with the V15 Detect.

Dyson introduced several new improvements with the V15 – some of which could be game-changing, in my opinion. Let’s go through them one by one.

green laser light

Dyson V15 Green Laser Light

The most noteworthy upgrade (in my opinion) would be this green laser on the thin drum attachment. One of the things pets resent with older Dyson cordless products is the lack of LED light, which many competing brands have.

Small lens built into the right cylinder attachment, seven millimeters off the ground at an angle of 1.5 degrees.

This green light highlights dust particles better than the LED bulb. Dust particles pop up and are easy to track with this tool.

See how dust particles are magnified by green light.

Dyson V15 green light detects dust particles

When I turn back – it’s gone.

Dyson V15 Green Laser Towing

I like the slender profile of the cylinder elbow, which is smaller in stature versus the softer V8 cylinder.

Dyson V15 and V8 side-by-side soft roller

Between the two, I prefer the thin roller because it is lighter and fits better in tight spaces.

piezo sensor

Dyson added a piezo sensor before hurricanes that calculate and Measures dust particles Passing through. Once it detects an increase in the amount, it increases the suction to compensate. This feature is similar to Tineco’s iLoop sensor, but has another function that measures the size of debris (in microns).

The information collected by the Piezo sensor is transmitted to the LCD screen behind the motor.

Dyson V15 LCD close-up

The screen is basically size color coded.

  1. yellow: allergens
  2. orange: microscopic dust
  3. Pink: dust mites
  4. Violet: sugar and fleas

Whether this feature is practical or not depends on the user. It is useful for people who need to track dust mites on upholstery.

Combs on a high-torque brush

Dyson V15 High Torque Floor Tool

Dyson added combs above the base brush roll, which were absent on V11 models. While I love how the V11 resists tangles, hair over 11 inches will curl on the brush.

The addition of combs along with the V15 Power Bump helps detangle strands of long hair even better – better than Have you tested the Shark Vertex Wireless before.

hair screw tool

Dyson V15 Turbo Small Anti-tangle Brush

Another noteworthy upgrade is the newly designed turbo brush. Dyson This is called a “hair curling tool.” Because of the torque-like shape of the brush.

It does not contain any combs, but its cone-shaped design forces the hair Towards a holding area And in the trash.

Dyson V15 Torque Screw Attachment Running

I didn’t bother testing it on shorter strands but Directly on 12 inch hairEverything was picked up.

Even if hair gets tangled, Dyson allows this tool to be cleaned by pulling a red lever behind it.

Dyson V15 Torque Screw Arm Red

After pulling it out, the brush comes out.

Dyson V15 screw brush

I tried the same kind of test with a conventional Dyson mini-turbo brush, and it worked.

12 inch hair on dyson mini turbo brush

It’s almost all wrapped up in it and pretty boring to unpack.

High Torque Slim Roller Floor Tools

Dyson is bringing the soft cylinder back into the V15 after ditching it with the V11 Torque Drive and Outsize (at least in North America).

It now uses the slim version, which is smaller than the standard thin attachment found in Dyson V8 and V10.

Here’s a close-up of the slender cylinder attachment.

Dyson V15 Soft Roller Attachment

I like the slimmer profile. It looks quite small when attached to the vacuum, but it’s easy to position and fits better in tight areas.

The high torque nozzle retains the same size as the V11 version with the same adjustable gate.

Dyson V15 high torque nozzle

Here is a view under it. You can clearly see the groups above the brush in this corner.

Dyson V15 high torque underneath

It still lacks the seal under the brush, so it doesn’t always make clean first passes. But the suction is strong enough to pick up debris.

Another noteworthy modification is the blue bumps that run with the bristles around them. These have a sharp pointed edge which I think helps with the jitters.

dynamic load sensor

The High Torque Attachment (formerly Torque Motor) maintains a dynamic load sensor that automatically increases suction if it detects an increase in resistance (eg carpet) and then bounces on hard surfaces.

I think this is Best place on the carpet Because it balances uptime and power. Another benefit is not straining the battery with maximum use for extended periods, which should bode well for its longevity.

Tools out of the box

Dyson Tools V15

  1. High torque cleaning head
  2. Thin spool attached
  3. Wall mountable dock
  4. tube extension
  5. slit tool
  6. hair screw tool
  7. stick clip
  8. flexible extension hose
  9. Soft brush for dusting
  10. collection tool
  11. Charger

One of my pets bothers with Dyson cordless vacuums are its tools (or lack thereof). Dyson somewhat corrects this with the V15 because it has more tools than any other Dyson cordless product.

Along with standard accessories like the kit, crevices, and a fine dusting brush, the V15 comes with a flexible hose.

Dyson V15 . Flexible Hose

You can attach any non-powered gadget and enjoy additional access.

Ease of use and interface

The V15 Detect has roughly the same dimensions as the V11 Torque Drive – ergonomics will be similar.

Behind the motor there is an LCD screen that displays various information such as dust particle size, remaining run time, error codes and more.

Dyson V15 debris size on LCD

A single button at the bottom of the screen toggles between the three power settings – eco, auto, and max.

Dyson V15 power settings

Trash capacity

Dyson wastebasket V15

The dirt volume for the V15 remains Same as the V11 Torque Drive at 0.77L. It has the same style as the trombone-type lever and the shoot-and-dump approach.

This capacity is not straight but decent, giving its ergonomic advantages over the large size.

It has a hermetic system plus a HEPA filter after the motor to prevent allergens from escaping.

I did a fog test, and the V15 didn’t leak.

Dyson V15 fog test

Detachable battery

Dyson V15 Detachable Battery

Like the Outsize and some versions of the V11 Torque engine, the V15 comes with a detachable Li-ion battery with a capacity of 3600 mAh.

It looks like Dyson will adopt this feature in future products like its other wireless products – the Omni Glide It also contains a detachable battery.

Currently, Dyson does not sell replacement V15 batteries, but V11 Outsize Batteries Compatible with V15.

How much power does the Dyson V15 Detect have?

Before V15 came out, it was a file V11 Huge It was the most powerful cordless vacuum I’ve tested in terms of airflow. But the V15 changes all that. As usual, I used an anemometer to measure in two critical areas – the wand and the cleaning head.

Here are the results in the cleaning head.

  • Prefix meaning environment: 29.98 cubic feet per minute
  • to me: 36.32 cubic feet per minute
  • the above: 69.19 cubic feet per minute

And in the extension tube (or stick).

  • Prefix meaning environment: 34.55 cubic feet per minute
  • to me: 42.38 cubic feet per minute
  • the above: 73 feet per minute

The difference in the eco and auto (or middle) setting isn’t too big, but it really does jump at the max setting.

This product has 4.42% greater airflow of large size in the nozzle and 9% more per stick – which is insane because Outsize already has such a high throughput.

Suction tests confirm this airflow bump as the V15 has the highest number of all Dyson wire-free products with 100 water lift (at the highest place), Six more Manal Dream Tech T30And ten more Manal V11 Huge.

Dyson V15 water lift results

One advantage of the V15 is the smaller frame. It’s the same size as the V11 Torque Drive but more powerful than the Outsize, so you’ll get the benefit of the Torque Drive and Outsize in one product.

cleaning performance

The power bump is evident in our cleaning tests, with the V15 snapping a high across the board — one of the highest ever (of all the vacuums I tested).

  • Total: 99.91%
  • Solid ground: 99.85%
  • Sand on the hard floor: 99.8%
  • carpet: 100%
  • deep cleaning: 100%

You have passed the entire carpet test, 100% score in all examswhether surface or embedded.

hard floor results

Dyson V15 Hard Floor Results

  • Quaker Oats: 100%
  • coffee: 99.4%
  • Quinoa: 100%
  • pet litter: 100%

Apart from ground coffee, V15 Picked up 100% with other wrecks. One of the problems with the soft drum is that it spins quickly and spreads some debris forward, which is why it didn’t pick up 100% of the ground coffee.

However, scattering should not be a problem for small dust particles – the very thing this tool is designed to clean.

One potential weakness of the soft roller is the presence of very large debris such as fruit rings. It didn’t work well, and it bounced mostly from the fast-spinning drum.

sand on hard floor

Dyson V15 Sand on Hard Floor

Another strength of the Thin Roller attachment is its sand-picking efficiency, at 99.8%. Not perfect, but it’s darn close.

I tried the high torque nozzle on sand, and it worked, going up 99.8%.

Dyson V15 Sandblasted Hard Floor with Torque Drive Attachment

But she left that much on the front pass.

Dyson V15 track of sand after a forward pass with a high torque tool

I’m not a big fan of using bristle tools to clean hard surfaces because they are not as effective as a soft roller.

Edge cleaning

Edge cleaning Dyson V15

Want proof of high airflow? Look no further than this test. It only took three passes to clean up most of the debris in this area.

Roll hair on hard floors

Dyson V15 roll on hard floor

  • 5 inch: 100% inside the box 0% on the brush
  • 7 inch: 100% inside the box 0% on the brush
  • 9 inch: 100% inside the box 0% on the brush
  • 11 inch: 100% inside the box 0% on the brush
  • 12 inches: 80.6% inside the box 19.4% on the brush

The thin roller has been extensively tested, how well it resists tangling.

It performed well between 5 and 11 inches, but its stroke was twelve inches. Some of the hair is coiled on the roller, but most of it is tangled on the axle.

Dyson V15 hair wrap after 12 inch test

The hair on the hub can be tedious to remove.

Dyson V15 hair on hub after 12 inch test

But please note that I tested it More than two grams in twelve inches of hair, so the test is extreme. I don’t expect this to be a regular occurrence in everyday cleaning tasks.

You can see most of the hair inside the trash. One of the problems with cleaning long hair strands is that they get wrapped around the metal filter.

Dyson V15 hair in the trash

The sanitary system will not be enough to drive it out – you will need to manually pull it out or remove the outer tire.

Dyson V15 uses hands to remove strands of long hair

carpet performance

Next, we’ll take a look at how well the V15 does on the carpet, and the better. The increase in suction and airflow was evident on this surface as it captured a perfect 100% in all tests.

Low stack results

Dyson V15 Low Lint Results

  • Quaker Oats: 100%
  • Cafe floors: 100%
  • Quinoa: 100%
  • pet litter: 100%

He. She He got 100% in all tests. One problem with the high torque attachment is the lack of a seal behind the brush.

I’m not sure why Dyson didn’t put a rubber band like it did on the V8 accessory, but the initial pass wasn’t always as clean.

Initial pass of the Dyson V15 high-torque head on carpet

You can see that it leaves a trail, but in the end, it picks up everything in the next passes, so this is a nitpick.

Mid-stack results

Dyson V15 mid lint results

  • Quaker Oats: 100%
  • Cafe floors: 100%
  • Quinoa: 100%
  • pet litter: 100%

Thicker pile rug, same results – V15 He got an excellent grade on this surface. And I realize I used the auto setting in these tests, which makes them even more impressive.

Not having to use the max setting or the boost is a big problem because it puts less strain on the battery and extends its service life.

Deep cleaning results

In this experiment I rubbed 100g of sand on a medium pile carpet to see how much the V15 would pick up, and it did an excellent job.

He. She got 100% On both the Eco and Auto and Boost settings – better than the V11 Torque and Outsize on the Eco setting.

Carpet Rolling Test

Dyson V15 Roll On Rug

Cleaning hair on the rug is another strength thanks to the redesigned brush with these blue bumps and combs on top of it.

I’ve tried it on hair between five and twelve inches, and it worked.

  • 5 inch: 100% inside the box 0% on the brush
  • 7 inch: 100% inside the box 0% on the brush
  • 9 inch: 100% inside the box 0% on the brush
  • 11 inch: 99% inside the box 1% on the brush
  • 12 inches: 98% inside the box 2% on the brush

The V15 is by far the best of all cordless vacuums at picking up hair regardless of the surface. These results demonstrate the finer combs and improvements that have been made to the brushwork.

Pair this tool with our newly designed Turbo Brush, to give users a powerful combo for cleaning pet hair on carpets and upholstery.

How long does the Dyson V15 run?

The V15 has the same 3600mAh, 25.2V Li-ion battery as the V11 Outsize, so the runtime for both is similar.

I tested it with the soft cylinder and high torque attachments initially, and it was great with up to 84 minutes with the drum and 56 minutes with the high torque on the economy setting.

Here are the results.

These numbers will translate to real-world use because the V15 will pick up debris well, even in this setting.

I previously mentioned a score of 100% in our deep cleaning tests in eco mode, which means this vacuum can clean a wider area of carpet.

How noisy is the Dyson V15 Detector?

I measured the noise levels with a sound meter using the cylinder and the high torque elbow.

Below are the results of the soft roller.

  • Prefix meaning environment: 67 dB
  • to me: 70.8 dB
  • Strengthen: 78.5 dB

And with a high torque head.

  • Prefix meaning environment: 70.3 dB
  • to me: 72.3 dB
  • Strengthen: 80.8 dB

Regardless of the tools, this broom is loud. I don’t suggest using it early in the morning or risking the wrath of your neighbor (for those who live in flats or apartments).

Availability of spare parts

being Dyson productThere will be no problem with the availability of parts. Historically, consumers could still purchase parts for older models V6 . engine. Even earlier variants such as the DC series have well-available parts.

One reason is the popularity of Dyson, which has grown exponentially over the years.

Manufacturers will have an incentive to mass-produce parts because of the high demand for them.

I think that V15 will have a lot of spare parts Available from both Dyson and third-party manufacturers.

So this broom should be viable in the long run if you view it as a home cleaning investment.

Does the Dyson V15 Detect offer a good value?

The high cost of the V15 It might discourage you It’s hard to think about, but it does offer some practical features, which help make house cleaning more efficient.

In my view, the green laser light is the most useful feature, especially inside homes with hardwood floors. It outperforms LED light in bringing out nearly invisible dust particles and giving users a visual indication of areas to clean – resulting in increased efficiency.

it’s also Very good at cleaning hair On upholstery, hard surfaces and carpets. Pet owners will love the new hair-screw tool attachment because it forces the hair out of the brush into the catch area and into the trash. Very effective and time saving feature as there is no need to brush hair.

5 reasons to buy the Dyson V15 Detect

  1. High airflow and suction: This model features the highest suction and airflow of all Dyson cordless vacuums.
  2. Excellent at cleaning hair: The two main nozzles and the redesigned miniature turbo brush work great at fighting tangles. It’s one of the few vacuums I recommend for cleaning hair on floors and upholstery.
  3. Unparalleled Dust Tracking: The green laser may have changed the rules of the game in how vacuum cleaners track down dust. I’ve tried a lot of vacuum cleaners with LED headlights, each with varying success. But none of them can spot it besides the V15 Detect.
  4. Best Cordless Deep Cleaning Option: While the V11 Outsize and Torque Drive engines can deep clean carpets, the V15 outperforms both, rising 100% in the economy setting.
  5. long term time: The run time of 84 minutes using the soft roller is one of the longest running times of a single battery I’ve tested to date.

Verdict: a level higher than V11

Dyson pre ups With V15 Detection. All the upgrades with it help make house cleaning more efficient. For me, the most practical is the green laser where the dust particles are exposed in a way that is not possible with the LED headlight.

It is also an ideal choice for hard floors and carpets thanks to its increased strength. It is excellent at brushing the hair due to the upgrades Dyson has put into the mini turbo brush and standard brush roller.

I’m still on the fence with the compression sensor, whether it’s a useful feature or not. But it can be the right consumer.

Yes, it’s expensive for a cordless vacuum, but it cleans incomparable to any other wire-free product I’ve tested. It eats up dust, hair, and sand efficiently, and with upgrades, it won’t require much care, especially detangling.

But the question is, are these upgrades worth the premium cost?

A level around the Dyson V11 engine’s torque and volume

  • Work environment – 93%
  • Surface cleaning – 99.88%
  • deep cleaning – 100%
  • Quality – 96%
  • Design – 97%
  • Values - 94%

  • TOTAL AVERAGE: 97%

summary

The Dyson V15 Detect is a step above the larger and larger V11 Torque Drive through power, cleaning performance and practicality. This model addressed some of the issues I had with these legacy variants – particularly visibility. The addition of a green laser will greatly help users in tracking dust that is invisible to the eye. It’s also better at brushing hair, especially on carpets and upholstery where the updated designed high torque brush and new torque screw attachment excel. Captures hair without tangling. The only drawback to getting this cordless vacuum cleaner is the high cost and ergonomics. Are you willing to pay coins to get this? This will be a deciding factor in whether or not to buy this product.
