Dyson DC41 Animal Review: Great for Homes with Pets

Posted on May 22, 2022June 20, 2022 by admin

When you think of powerful and innovative vacuum cleaners, the Dyson brand comes to mind.

They are known for innovations like the bagless design pioneered by James Dyson a few decades ago.

This vacuum cleaner is the second generation named “Animal” which means this comes with a tangle-free turbine tool specially designed to clean any type of hair on upholstery.

This machine debuted in 2013 and had a retail price of over $600, it’s been over two years and the price has gone down a bit.

There have been questions about the quality of these products in terms of ease of use and the plastic used.Ry Crist, a product reviewer from CNet, said the void had “several bewildering oversights on the build”.

First you had to forcefully remove it to drop it from its fixed location which could cause problems in the long run.

Secondly, the rear wheels do not always appear when tightened. This makes it difficult to maneuver this thing.

Third, when the stick is separated from the base, there is no handle to hold it comfortably.

But are these omissions enough to set this product aside?

Let’s find out.

What do you expect from Dyson straight “value for money”

Remember that there are two versions of DC41, this machine is called Animal. It comes with three attachments.

The second type is called “Animal Complete”, and in terms of features, it is the same device but with more attachments.

Apart from the three included tools, it also comes with a soft dusting brush, a bristle brush, a multi-angle brush and a zorb carpet powder.

Features

Animal Complete might be a better value

Basically Animal Complete is the best value, the difference in price is not much. Comes with more attachments.

It is very easy to assemble out of the box, just follow the instructions carefully.

My favorite accessory is the tangle-free turbine brush which makes brushing hair “tangle-free”. Instead of using a traditional bristle brush, Dyson uses two gear-like mechanisms that rotate in opposite directions to catch hair.

Due to the styling there is a little tangle of hair. There will be less keeping up with this tool.

Let’s see this tool in action

In terms of how much dirt it can hold, it can store up to 2.1 liters of dirt before you have to empty it.

It is also approved by the British Allergy Foundation which means very few allergens will come out of the exhaust. This is a great option for allergy sufferers.

Case-wise, this is excellent with a range of over 50 feet thanks to the long power cord and hose.

When you incorporate the extension wand, it can get there to clean up the dust that has accumulated on the ceiling.

bare floor performance

The bottom line is you’re buying a Dyson for cleaning performance and in the cleaning test conducted at CNet Labs, the DC41 performed well across the board.

It particularly excelled in the open floor test as it was able to capture nearly all of the large and fine-grained debris in their tests.

Not all of the larger pieces may fit under the lower cleaner head, so you may need to remove the wand.

One tip when cleaning hard floors, be sure to turn off the motorized brush as it can create more of a mess to pick up dirt.

carpet performance

The DC41 also performed well on carpet cleaning. According to CNet’s Ry Crist, it performed better than the newer DC50 at cleaning Cheerios, but was 20% less effective at picking up fine sawdust on a mid-pile rug.

Another review site, The Vacuum Wizard tested this on leaves and loved how it picked up the fallen leaves on the carpet.

It was also mentioned that this machine has very good edge cleaning capabilities, whether cleaning is done upside down or from the side.

upholstery performance

This is where you’ll love this tangle-free turbine brush. Although marketed as a tangle-free hair cleaner, it can also pick up other debris on upholstery and not just pet hair.

If your daughter, wife, or boyfriend has long hair, you know its strands will fall on the couch or chair, and this tool will shorten that, the good news is that you don’t have to spend time cutting and curling the hair on a bristle brush.

This tool alone is worth about $50.

Pet hair removal

In terms of cleaning pet hair, this device is rocking! It captures 100% of pet hair scattered on hardwood and low and medium carpets. Combine that with the tangle-free turbine tool, this machine is a pet hair inhaler capable of eliminating every strand of pet hair in its path.

Attachments and accessories

This particular model comes with only three – the tangle-free turbine tool, crevice set, brush tool and tray tool. The DC41 comes complete with a total of seven and is in my opinion the best value for money.

rope length

It has a very long wire – about 35 feet, but it doesn’t have any wire that can be rewound.

Filter cleaning

According to VacBin, there are two types of filters for cleaning. The main filter is located on top of the dirt container. There is another engine filter inside the ball. Both filters should be washed every three months. Remember that both filters must be completely dry before replacing them.

Watch this video on how to access these two filters as well as other maintenance tips.

Just in case the hair or strands are wrapped in the beater bar on the floor, the main cleaner head is easy to remove and the brush is easy to access by simply opening two switches.

Guarantee

All Dyson listings come with a 5-year warranty on the entire unit.

Customer Reviews

The majority of consumers who bought this on Amazon or any other online store gave positive reviews for this reason mainly because this vacuum cleaner cleans this period. As you’ve seen with a product review from CNet and Vacuum Wizard, in terms of cleaning performance, the DC41 Animal is on par with any high-quality vacuum cleaner now available on the market.

Although there are usability issues

The first is the plastic used, I have read a lot of complaints about the poor quality of the plastic used. One consumer complained that the dirt canister had fallen off due to the failed plastic hinge holding it on.

Others have had issues with the rubber hose that doesn’t seem to stretch well. You will need to tighten it with your hands with some force to fully extend it.

There is also an issue with the broom locking back up in its upright position. You will have to do this a few times until it sticks or falls off. Make sure not to leave it on completely until you are sure that it is secured in place.

Then there’s the problem of the rear wheels getting in the way and not folding at the signal.

Regardless of these issues, it still works well on floors and bare carpets because it has above-average suction. It will also work well for cleaning pet hair from upholstery thanks to the tangle-free turbine tool.

Where can I buy this?

You can buy the Dyson DC41 upright for just over $500 on Amazon. And you’ll be eligible for free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.

They also sell extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.

to finish

Despite the negatives in terms of build quality and the need to use some force to dislodge this from its upright position and vice versa, this machine was designed with one purpose in mind – to clean up tamper.

Whether you are cleaning large grains or fine dust, this machine is capable of cleaning a variety of surfaces with varying levels of effectiveness. It is most effective on bare Earth’s surface.

The tangle-free turbine tool will work wonders for cleaning very long hair including pet hair on upholstery.

This machine will be very useful for people who live with individuals with very long hair or have a lot of pets.

Oversight in terms of the lack of a knob in the extension stick and the easy release pedal to get this out of its upright position is a major concern for me. And if you have to, too. You’d be better off with another brand like Shark that’s a lot cheaper.
