The DC39 Origin is one of the most powerful drum vacuums on the market at the moment – with 280W pneumatic power.
Putting that in perspective, the 280W antenna is more powerful or more powerful than most listings produce.
This allows her to pick up more straight brooms as you’ll see in the video below.
Yes, it costs more than other brands but it is backed by a 5-year warranty which is one of the longest in the industry.

What do you expect from the Dyson DC39?
Unlike other top blanks that use two fixed wheels and one caster wheel for steering, the DC39 uses what’s called “ball technology” which essentially allows this to run a dime without the risk of tipping over.
To filter dirt, it uses patented Root Cyclone technology which, according to Dyson, prevents the return of allergens.
washable filter
It comes with a lifetime washable filter which means you don’t need to buy extra filters.
These are significant savings in terms of not having to purchase alternatives.
Attachments and accessories
Comes with only two – crevice/dusting blending brush and ladder tool. What’s neat is that you can store both inside the vacuum cleaner.
Note that the tray tool does not have any motorized brush and is only suction dependent. If you have a lot of pets, go with DC39 Animal with the tangle-free turbine tool.
rope length
The power cord is 21.7 feet high, which is too long for a drum vacuum cleaner, and it has a rewindable cord, so it saves you time because you don’t need to tidy up the wires after using this.
Filter cleaning
The filter is located in the middle of the dirt cup and looks similar to the DC59. To get to this, all you have to do is twist it and then pull it out.
Dyson recommends cleaning it once a month but there is no need to replace the filter for the life of the vacuum cleaner.
Note that this does not contain any HEPA filtration. If you are allergic, you may have to look at the bagged canister.
Guarantee
Dyson offers a generous 5-year warranty on parts and labor.
Watch it in action
Watch this video to see the different features of this vacuum cleaner.
Watch this next video to see how the DC39 works on the mat. Note how much dirt I was able to pick up even after cleaning the rug with my vertical shaft.
Find out some potential issues with the elbow mount and telescopic pole mount at the end of the video, be sure to watch it from start to finish to see what it is.
bare floor performance
The powerful suction combined with the brush roller makes it a great cleaner for bare floor surfaces. If you’re concerned that the brush roller is scratching the floors, you can turn it off and just use the suction to pick up the dirt.
To clean large dirt pieces, you can use the crevice tool to clean them.
Note that the telescopic wand is adjustable so that you can move it as low as possible and clean stairs with it.
carpet performance
Despite the lack of a motorized brush, the DC39 has such strong suction that it still cleans dirt on carpets. If you watched the video above, it was still able to pick up dirt even after vacuuming the area.
One of the main reasons for this is the 200W suction power produced by the digital motor. Keep in mind that a rotating brush doesn’t have its own motor, so stirring won’t be as good.
It also allows it to deep clean abrasive dirt like sand under the rug fibers which when left uncleaned can tear the rug base over time.
Cleaning stairs shouldn’t be a problem thanks to the adjustable telescopic wand. However, if you have pets, you may want to take a look at DC39 Animal with a tangle-free turbine tool that is more effective on pet hair.
upholstery performance
The DC39 does not contain any specialized tool to use for upholstery. So you will have to rely on a crevice/dusting brush tool.
If you have housemates with long hair or a lot of pets, DC39 Animal would be a better choice.
The latter is slightly less powerful as it produces only 275 watts of air compared to the 280 of this model but is much more expensive.
Pet hair removal
On the rug it should do a good job because of the massive suction power. But the lack of a motor to power the beater bar brings it back a bit to deep cleaning pet hair.
In other areas like upholstery, it may struggle because it doesn’t have any specialized tool like those in the DC39 animal for the job.
If you have pets, an animal would be a better choice.

What do consumers say?
The absence of a motorized brush negatively affects the performance of the carpet and the reviews confirm this.
Considering that this product is close to $300, this is a big scam. We hope Dyson will add an engine in future releases.
Great on the open ground
It outperforms exposed floor surfaces such as hardwood or tile. In one review, a consumer noted that it picks up dirt even on the grooves of a tiled floor where it is usually cleaned with brooms with weaker suction.
In one video review (review above), it was able to pick up a significant amount of dust, sand, and pet hair despite having previously cleaned the carpet with my vertical.
You will also notice that the door of the dirt cup is not flat but rather tapered, so when emptying this some dirt may be trapped in this area. This isn’t a big deal but it does make cleaning a lot more messy.
Some potential issues
Many consumers who have a lot of pets have complained that the beater bar is clogged. This is not a surprise because pet hair will wrap around the brush and clog if you don’t brush it regularly. So this is more of a maintenance issue than anything else.
Overall, this is a great cleaner for bare floors and low to medium pile carpets that struggle with thicker rugs/rugs.
Despite the Dyson name, there are also some surprising complaints about the plastics being flimsy.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy this from Amazon for a great price under $270. And you’ll be eligible for free 2-day shipping if you join Prime. They also sell extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.
to finish
This vacuum cleaner would be great for people who spend money and want a cleaner that cleans medium to large sized homes well.
Great for low to medium pile carpets
Whether your home is fitted with bare flooring or low to medium carpeting, that shouldn’t be a problem because it has a brush roller and has plenty of suction power (280 Watts Air).
Plush carpets can be difficult to clean based on consumer reviews due to the small beater bar. But it should work well on thin carpets.
Good for stairs
Stair cleaning is another advantage because it is light enough that you can pick it up and rest on the steps plus the telescopic wand is adjustable allowing for faster cleaning times.
The ball feature is a nice addition that makes this feature easy to maneuver and virtually tip-proof when the hose is pulled.
Moving from bare floor to carpet shouldn’t be a problem because of the brush roll control on the handle – you don’t need to bend over just to operate the brush roller.
The dirt cup is quite large at half a gallon so you don’t need to empty it as often. But it is spacious so you may need to buy a larger trash can (if you don’t have one) to make emptying it less messy.
Overall, this is a very good cleaner (with some limitations) backed by a long warranty although a bit pricey but for those who can afford it, it’s a good investment.
