You are a busy, professional homemaker and dad who won’t compromise. You just want the best product and are willing to pay for it.
If you’re any of the above, then the Dyson DC34 is that cordless vacuum cleaner for you, featuring the most powerful suction of any handheld vacuum we have right now.

Update: Dyson has a newer version of the DC34, the V6 Trigger with a V6 (not the V6 you find in-car) that has better suction when the boost function is on. Check out this article for the differences between Dyson’s newer cordless cleaners – the DC44, DC59, and V6 – note that the V6 and DC59 are the same under the hood so to speak.
This is actually one of the most affordable Dyson handheld vacuums.
It’s one of the most powerful manual ports on the market – up to 3 times more when using the Max setting, but this reduces runtime to 6 minutes.
Note that this differs from the DC34 Animal that comes with a small floor tool, and this attachment does not have this attachment, so don’t expect this to go beyond spot cleaning tasks.

What do you expect from the Dyson DC34?
This appliance comes with 28 watts of air, which is 6 watts more than the highly rated Black and Decker BDH2000FL cordless hand scrubber.
And when you activate the Max setting, it goes up to 64 Aw which is almost 3 times as much.
Tough costs an extra $50, and the extra power will come in handy sometimes.

Attachments and accessories
It only comes with two attachments, a crevice and a built in retractable brush/wide nozzle tool that can also double as a pet hair tool that uses stirring to loosen upholstery hair.
One of the great things about the attachments here is that they have a mechanism that holds them in place so you don’t have to worry about them falling out.
Cheaper brands use friction or have a small clip that doesn’t lock securely like this, so there’s a higher risk of the attachments falling off.
Shipping time
Dyson says a full charge will take 3.5 hours.
Filter cleaning
The filter is located at the back of the dirt container and can be accessed by pressing the release latch at the top which will separate the dirt cup from the engine.
Remove the filter and then wash it with running water. The manufacturer recommends washing them at least once a month. Note that it does not contain any HEPA filtration.

the show length
According to Dyson, a full charge will last about 15 minutes in normal use, but if the maximum setting is used, that number drops to 6.
Guarantee
It comes with a 2-year limited warranty, so remember to register your product and keep your warranty card in a safe place.
Dyson will honor the order and send a replacement unit if there is a factory defect. Reviews confirm this and say that the service reps were very helpful.
bare floor performance
This is a spot cleaner because both elbows are tight but for this purpose it does a good job because it has very good suction power.
The downside to the narrow slot for attachments is that it limits the amount of debris you can clean up.
carpet performance
Again, this is a spot-on carpet cleaner due to the tightness of the attachments but the good news is that you can buy the floor attachment separately from Amazon which will cost around $25.
Although a crevice tool would be great for cleaning edges and corners as well as panels.
Pet hair cleaning
Although it does not have a motorized brush, it will still be able to remove pet hair.
The compact brush/wide nozzle tool can be used to remove pet hair from upholstery, it won’t have the same surface area as a motorized brush but is great for spot cleaning quickly.

Customer Reviews
It’s had over 100 reviews which isn’t a lot, considering that this is an older model, it has had its fair share of good and bad reviews.
I’ll start with the good. Consumers who gave this rating 4 or 5 stars loved the suction power and portability it gives them.
Some are not very happy with the price although they admit that you have to pay a premium for a quality product.
The uptime was enough for most people but for some they wanted it to last a few more minutes.
Keep in mind that most laptops will only last 15-30 minutes.
Now to the bad, the common complaint here is the lack of suction power and a very short run time which was around 3 to 6 minutes based on many reviews.
Others complained about the trigger mechanism having to be pressed at all times for the vacuum to operate which according to some was straining their hands and wrists.
In one particular review, the Consumer compared the DC35 to the older Black + Decker FHV1200 and surprisingly preferred the Black + Decker because it was able to pick up more dirt than the Dyson.
The biggest drawback this consumer mentioned is the price which is why it is given a two star rating.
Reviews from other sites
Dyson.com
Unlike Amazon, more people here gave it a high rating, out of 96 people who left a review, only 5 gave a negative rating, and the rest were positive saying it has good suction power.
Some consumers liked that it had a dual power setting which helped them a lot to remove even more stubborn dirt.
The main complaint of people who left negative reviews that they complained about was the very short battery life, but the service reps were very helpful in responding to their complaints.
In one of their responses, they mentioned that the filter itself can lead to a thermal cut-off which could be the reason why it shuts down after a few minutes, so it’s important to check the filter occasionally for how dirty it is and wash it regularly.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy this lightweight portable device on Amazon for $315 which is pretty pricey for a handheld vacuum cleaner.
The best option in my opinion is to get a Dyson V7 Trigger or a V6 Trigger which will both be under $200. Both will be eligible for free 2-day Amazon shipping if you join Prime.
Extended warranties are also available for up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.
Conclusion
This handheld device is great for parents with lots of active kids as this will help them quickly pick up the mess left by their active kids.
RV owners will also appreciate this because it doesn’t take up a lot of storage space and has enough power to pick up small messes inside their vehicle.
The build quality is good and the accessories are designed well enough that they can be firmly attached to the vacuum cleaner without falling off.
These little details are one of the reasons this broom is so expensive.
It doesn’t have the reach or attachments of the DC35, DC44, or DC59 but costs more than $100 less than all of these models.
Plus you can buy some of these attachments separately if you need them.
The bottom line is whether you’re a parent, RV owner, or someone who owns a small home looking for something lightweight and wireless, this will be a great spot-cleaning tool for you to pick up small debris around the house that won’t take long to recharge.
But expect to pay a premium for it.
