Canister vacuums have evolved and at the forefront of this evolution is the Dyson brand that seems to continue to push the boundaries of its products.
Previous models used a washable filter that lasts the life of the vacuum cleaner.
But the Cinetic Big Ball uses no filters at all thanks to Cinetic Science technology that uses flexible oscillating tips that prevent microscopic dust from clogging it.
This is the same technology found in Dyson Cinetic Animal but this is a newer version with improvements made based on consumer feedback.
It will be the first and most prominent design of the dirt box, especially how to get rid of dirt.
best bin design
With the previous generation Cinetic Animal case, a door opens at the bottom and gravity takes over.
The problem with this design is dust and statically charged hair that will stick to the mesh filter located in the center part of the container.
You will need to use your fingers to scrape off the dust stuck between the mesh filter and the outer shell. This can be a messy process.
This is by far one of the biggest complaints not only with Cinetic Animal but with Dyson vacuums in general even from cordless vacuums.
best bin design
The new design found in this film case solves this problem.
Instead of just opening the trap door, the entire casing moves down. A rubber mechanism underneath pushes dirt, hair, and other statically charged debris down, at least most of it.
This two-step process makes it less messy and easier to unpack compared to previous variants.
Another notable improvement over the previous DC76 cine case is the body design itself…
In the older Cinetic variant, the basket is in front of the ball which makes it taller. The newer design pushes the box back, pushing it into the ball, making it more compact.
The downside Like any new Dyson product would be the price, this case will shred your wallets for about $500 at Amazon.
Quick look at the features
- It uses Dyson’s latest technology called Cinetic Science which has 36 cine tips that separate dust that would normally clog other voids that use a conventional filter.
- This technology eliminates the filter, so there’s nothing to wash or replace, just empty the container regularly
- ‘Self rights’ when toppled – perhaps the only can that catches itself when it falls to the side
- The new hygiene basket emptying mechanism pushes dirt out, making emptying less messy and faster
- The carbon fiber turbine head (note it’s air powered, not motorized) uses a combination of carbon fiber filaments and stiff nylon bristles to pick up fine dust and ground dirt.
- The 360° hinged handle allows you to move the wand during a cleaning session
- Ball technology makes running a dime a lot easier and moving this fairly heavy can that much easier
- 5 years warranty
- No filters to clean
- More compact than older Dyson vacuum cleaners
- Ben Akbar
- Improved bin design makes emptying easier and less messy
- Comes with an adapter that makes tools on older Dysons convenient
- short hose
- very expensive
- The main cleaning tool does not contain a motor
- short power cord
What can be expected from a topper without a filter?
Before Dyson invented motion science technology, vacuum cleaners were classified as either bagged or bagless.
You can now add a third variant thanks to Dyson’s Cinetic Science technology.
The void shown in the video is not the newest version but the oldest. I just wanted to share how the technology works.
These are the oscillating tips that prevent microscopic dirt from clogging these filters.
No more filtering
Dyson claims this technology is maintenance-free and doesn’t need filters because dirt running through it ends up in the trash.
Even the spherical part of the broom does not contain any filters, making it the first maintenance-free broom on the market today.
Simply empty the container when it is full. There are some limitations though Dyson cautions consumers against using this on hot ash as it may damage the rubber tips.
Watch this video from Ibasaic to see what’s inside the box and how all these attachments come together.
The Dyson in the video is the UK version. If you buy in the US, you may get a different set of tools.
You will get a lot for the dollar
For $500 or so in dollars you spend, you get a lot.
One of my favorites is the tangle-free turbine tool which itself costs about $47. This tool is in my opinion one of the best hair cleaning tools on the market right now.
You will also see how the new dirt box design works.
It is a two step process. Pushing the level raises the entire casing assembly as well as the trapped dirt.
The second step will be to open the bottom door to empty.
In my opinion, this is the best way to design and again, kudos to Dyson for coming up with these changes through customer feedback.
Fast forward to the 23-minute mark, and you’ll notice that all the tools are interchangeable. You can attach it to the stick or the hose.
This is huge because there are instances when you won’t need the handle – especially when cleaning tight spaces inside the car or between sofa cushions.
Towards the end of the video, you’ll see how the case stands up again when flipped to the side – thanks to the cleverer, more compact ball design.
There are no filters for washing
Dyson Cinetic technology allows this vacuum to operate without any type of filter, pre-drive or after-motor. Dyson Cinetic’s earlier listings had a HEPA engine filter.
Carbon fiber turbine head
This refers to the main cleaning head for this case.
Note that this tool does not have its own motor, so stirring is not good.
It has very strong suction at 250 watts of air which somewhat compensates for this limitation.
The main cleaning tool has a motorized brush made of two types of brush. The first are stiff nylon bristles that move dirt trapped under the carpet threads. Second, soft nylon bristles pick up statically charged dust on the bare floor.
So, yes, this vacuum cleaner will work on both bare floors and carpets.
Improved dirt basket
This is probably the biggest improvement, at least for me. The new design makes emptying the container less of a mess because it has a mechanism that pushes statically charged debris like dust bunnies away from the mesh filter in the middle.
You don’t need to get your hands dirty to empty this broom.
extra long stick
It also comes with a stick that extends up to 4.1 feet allowing you to reach even the highest areas.
You don’t need to climb a ladder just to get the cobwebs off the ceiling with this tool in your home.
The new ball technology has superior maneuverability and runs a dime without much drag, and even if you pull it a lot and turns sideways, it just stands up on its own.
The dirt box is bigger
The new container is larger and can hold up to 0.42 gallons of dry dirt. That’s about 1.6 liters of dirt. Interestingly enough, the older Dyson Ball with an older cyclonic system has a larger dirt bin capacity at 0.53 gallons.
As you have already seen in the video now, the handle folds for easy storage and rotates in 3 directions giving you maximum flexibility and maneuverability depending on the area you are going to clean.
Quick editing tools
All accessories on this vacuum cleaner are held in place with a locking mechanism that locks into place. Removing these tools is also easy with the quick release latches. This is what sets them apart from cheaper brands that may use friction only to secure theses or wand attachments.
The power cord is 21 feet long. Not particularly long but with rewindable cord to make tidying a lot easier.
Before anything else, watch this video as it shows you the tools you get with this broom (at least the UK version and not the US version), performance on carpets, upholstery, tiles…
Perhaps the most impressive tool based on this test is the carbon fiber turbine head. Even without a dedicated motor to power the brush, they can still pick up massive amounts of pet hair on the carpet.
How did you do on the carpet?
Not only did it capture surface dirt, dust, and debris on the carpet, but it was also capable of picking up pet hair that’s not very visible in the camera.
However, Dyson does not recommend using this to clean a large amount of fine powder.
On the bare ground, it had a little snow shoveling effect but not much. The snowplow effect only happens when you’re trying to clean up a big mess like this…
You won’t clean up such a mess every day but it is good to know that this vacuum cleaner can handle such a mess if the need arises.
I also noticed that the shroud in the middle was not clean.
But the process is much simpler.
What comes in the box?
Out of the box you will get the following tools…
Dyson cordless vacuums have a 5-year warranty.
|attachments||Carbon fiber turbine head
Tangle-free turbine tool
|Roll brush on/off||no|
|rope length||21 feet|
|above ground up||35 feet|
|Net weight||17.64 EGP|
|Purchase Weight||24.8 EGP|
|cleaning path||Approximately. 10 inch|
|total length||46.4 inches|
|dust capacity||.42 gallons|
Consumers largely agree with their assessment of this vacuum.
The suction is powerful which is equivalent to superior cleaning performance but the main cleaning tool does not have a motor. So agitation is not as good as rectal.
People like that don’t have to wash any filters
The fact that it is filter free is also a plus point of this product, they say the product pays off itself by keeping your home clean without having to buy or wash additional filters provided they will last for years.
This may be a little tricky to push due to the strong suction. It also poses a problem when cleaning an area rug.
But the suction is adjustable using a lever on the handle.
Another potential issue is the space this product will take up.
Some potential issues
You see that this is the biggest downside of the enclosure which requires more horizontal real estate compared to the vertical one that can be stored without having to be placed against a wall. Also the attachments that come with this don’t have any storage, so you have to create your own.
In general, this vacuum cleaner works even with an air-powered cleaning head. In terms of tools, you have all the tools you need to clean every nook and cranny inside your home and in your car if you choose to clean your car with this.
The power cord is on the short side as well as the hose, but this product makes up for it by being very maneuverable. Yes, it is an expensive purchase but consider it an investment. Deliver one of the best overhead vacuums available on the market at the moment.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy this from Amazon for less than $400. This will be eligible for free 2-day shipping if you join Prime. Amazon also sells extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.
This new cinematic enclosure is great for medium-sized homes due to its versatility. It features a more compact design that reduces storage space and an improved container that makes emptying less messy.
The carbon fiber turbine main tool may only run with air but based on the video I shared with you, it is fully capable of picking up not only surface dirt but also hard to clean pet hair under the carpet mounts.
But if you already have plush rugs at home, you might want to consider something with a motorized brush like Shark Rocket Complete or Dyson Upright.
Pet owners will love this vacuum cleaner because the tiny turbine that sniffs pet hair from upholstery and any pet owner will tell you that this is the biggest problem spot in their home.
Emptying this out isn’t as mess-free as I originally hoped but the new design makes it less messy but you may want to do this outdoors if you have a small box inside.
It won’t be cheap to buy but you’ll get a lot for the $400 you’ll spend and it comes with a worry-free 5-year warranty from Dyson.
