Dyson Ball Multi Floor Review and Test

Dyson Ball Multi Floor Review and Test

Posted on May 22, 2022June 22, 2022 by admin

The Dyson Ball Multi has probably the most powerful suction of any vertical vacuum on the market today.

It has 45 more air watts than its predecessor DC 40 Origin and 65 more air watts than the new DC 75 Cinetic.

This powerful suction allows it to pick up dirt on a variety of surfaces including bare floor surfaces and carpets.

It comes with a stretchable hose which means this machine is capable of cleaning above the floor (note that it has a maximum reach of 45 feet according to Dyson).

Round up the tool kit included in the package includes a crevice/brush tool set and a drawer tool.

This is similar to the DC65 minus the tangle-free turbine tool but is cheaper.

Let’s see how this new version performed.

What to expect from the Dyson Multi Ball upright?

This is an upgraded version of the DC40. The biggest difference will be the suction power.

The multi-storey spherical base has 245 watts of antenna while the DC40 produces “only” 200 watts of antenna.

This is a huge difference even though the DC40 is $30 cheaper and a few pounds lighter.

Another difference would be the filtration system. This device uses Radial Root Cyclone technology which does a better job of preventing filters from clogging with fine dust.

Features

Here is the full feature list:

  • 245 watt antenna (possibly the most powerful existing pole on the market)
  • Uses radial cyclone technology
  • Equipped with a lifetime washable filter
  • Weighs 17.3 pounds
  • Quick release hose and extension wand
  • 30 ft power cord (retractable)
  • Self-adjusting cleaner head
  • Dirt capacity 55 gallons (about 2.08 liters)
  • 4 inches
  • Total up to 45 feet (if you include power cord + hose + extension wand)

bare floor performance

Between its powerful 245W suction and brush roll on/off feature, this broom is well equipped to clean dust and debris from hard floors.

A low head may produce what you call a snowplowing effect. But you can clean larger pieces of debris with a quick-disconnect hose and extension wand.

You wouldn’t buy this upright for cleaning hardwood. The use of a stick vacuum would be sufficient for such.

carpet performance

The powerful suction also works wonders in cleaning surface dirt on carpets.

It is equipped with a whisking rod with coarse bristles that allows it to agitate and deep clean. This variant isn’t quite as powerful as the newer Cinetic version but it’s not far behind.

Do you want proof?

Watch this video and how it stirs the rug and picks up just about everything in its path.

Later in the video, you’ll also see how it picks up all sorts of dirt on hardwood, even dirt stuck inside cracks gets caught.

strong suction

The strong suction power makes this possible and makes it even better at doing it.

This machine is one of the most affordable types of deep cleaning in the Dyson line of products.

If you think about how it performs, the price is a good deal.

Although it comes with a stair cleaning tool, it is rather small so you will likely need a separate tool to deeply clean carpeted stairs or brush pet hair off of them.

upholstery performance

It comes with a detachable hose and extension wand, so it’s perfectly capable of cleaning dirt, dust, and other loose debris from upholstery.

The main tools you will be using here are the crevice/brush collector and the tray tool.

It doesn’t come with any pet hair tool, so this broom isn’t best equipped to clean a lot.

The Dyson DC65 will be better equipped to do this because it comes with a tangle-free turbine tool.

Pet hair removal

On carpets and bare floors, brushing pet hair shouldn’t be a problem because it has a motorized brush roll but on upholstery it won’t be as effective as it lacks a pet hair tool.

Attachments and accessories

You will get two attachments – the crevice/brush collector and the ladder tool.

rope length

The power cord is 30 feet long and is retractable.

Filter cleaning

Comes with a washable filter that lasts the life of the vacuum cleaner. Dyson recommends washing it once a month.

Another HEPA filter that can be accessed inside the ball.

Aside from cleaning the filters, you will also make sure to clean the dirt box regularly as debris will build up whenever you use this.

Guarantee

Comes with a 5-year warranty.

Customer Reviews

Initially consumers liked the suction this cleaner had because it was able to pick up a lot of dust and pet hair on a variety of surfaces such as carpets and hardwood.

There have been some people who have complained that the brush roll is too close to the ground to pick up larger pieces of debris such as pet dander.

In terms of weight, it was a mixed bag that some people say is light while others say it was too heavy.

Able to clean above ground

In terms of reach, when you combined the length of the hose and the extension wand, it could reach the ceiling.

I think this shouldn’t be a problem unless you have a very large house with a ridiculously high ceiling.

Some potential issues

The tray tool is not really well designed, like I said earlier, it’s quite small but the hose is long enough to reach the top.

I must warn you that if you have very long stairs or they turn at an angle, the length of the hose may not be enough.

Despite complaints, these are just a minority.

The majority still liked how this vacuum cleaner performed despite the high price they were satisfied with their purchase.

A consumer summed it all up perfectly, “You get what you pay for.”

Where can I buy this?

You can buy this upright vacuum cleaner on Amazon for less than $290. And it will come with free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.

Amazon also sells extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want that extra peace of mind.

to finish

This vacuum cleaner would be great for medium to large homes with a combination of carpet and bare floors. A 30-foot cord should be enough to cover large areas, but it can be difficult to clean carpeted stairs because the tool that comes with it is small and will only cover a small area at a time.

Extension wand + hose allows consumers to use this to clean upholstery and stairs all the way to the ceiling so this machine has many uses.

Dyson advertises that it has a “full device HEPA filtration” and is approved by the American Asthma and Allergy Association for Asthma and Allergy sufferers.

But remember, since this vacuum cleaner is bag-free, emptying it still exposes you to dust and allergens, so either empty it outside or wear a mask if you have asthma.

In terms of reviews, consumers loved how this picks up dirt, especially on carpets where dust, dirt, and allergens tend to hide underneath.

If you can’t afford cinematic science, this would be a great, cheaper alternative without the special tools.
