Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 SD20020 Review

Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 SD20020 Review: Versatile Stick Vacuum for Small Homes

Posted on May 23, 2022 by admin

There are times when a large vertical output is overkill. And you wish you had something lightweight that could tackle lighter messes without straining your back.

The Vibe 3-in-1 from Dirt Devil is a vacuum cleaner that can be used as a handheld device that allows you to clean areas above the floor.

Even if this device isn’t wireless, it’s still light and smart to navigate. It is powerful enough to clean at least surface dirt on the carpet.

The manufacturer says that this is a 3-in-1 vacuum cleaner. But it is actually a 2-in-1 wand that becomes a hand vacuum.

So this versatile machine is a great spot cleaner for small homes.

Even with a motorized brush, you can’t count on this for deep cleaning carpets because it lacks power.

What do you expect from Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 SD20020?

If you look closely at this model, this is basically a handheld device with a broom stick on top and a floor tool on the bottom which is why it’s so light.

Another nice feature is the brush on/off feature that prevents scratching on certain hardwood surfaces.

Features of Dirt Devil Vibe 3-in-1 SD20020

Don’t expect Dyson-like build quality as some reviews say build quality looked flimsy. But what can you expect from a vacuum right under $50.

Attachments and accessories

It comes with only one attachment which is a crevice tool. You can install it on your handheld device to clean dirt from hard-to-reach areas such as creases between upholstery as well as corners and edges (panels) of the floor.

When you open the package, it comes with a wand that attaches to the back of the mobile device and a floor tool that you can clip to the entrance that turns this into a vacuum wand.

rope length

It only has 15 feet of wire, so you’ll need to do a lot of plugging and unplugging. It has a quick release cord latch where you can store the power cord.

Filter cleaning

To clean the filter, you need to push the latch on top of the portable unit and then empty the dirt cup.

The filter is in the middle, pull the filter out and squeeze it into the trash.

You will have to wash it regularly.

Depending on your environment and how much dirt you clean up, it could be once a week or rarely once a month.

Guarantee

Comes with only one year warranty.

Watch it in action

bare floor performance

According to a video review I watched, the consumer said this worked well on their laminate floors to pick up dust and pet hair.

The editors at Good House Keeping reported that this worked well for picking up dry debris from the bare floor.

This is due to the motorized brush that completes the suction process. An added advantage here is that you can turn this on and off.

carpet performance

This would be great for use on low pile carpets due to the motorized brush. But don’t expect this carpet to be cleaned to medium to high depth because it doesn’t have enough power.

You can use this to clean high traffic areas so dirt doesn’t build up.

Pet hair removal

One bare floor such as hardwood and fluffy carpeting would pick up pet hair well.

On thinner carpets it will work fine too but you need to be careful when cleaning the edges as this will try to pick them up from the edges.

Good House Keeping also says it would be good at picking up pet hair on the carpet based on their tests. But they did not specify whether it was a plush rug or a thin one.

You will have to clean the beater bar regularly so that there is some maintenance to be done.

What do consumers say?

Consumers loved how light this little stick was (it’s even lighter than some wireless variants).

Because it’s so light, it’s easy to maneuver (thanks to the swivel head) and small enough to use even in bathrooms.

This would fit under furniture as it folds flat like the Dyson DC59.

Usable on both bare floors and carpets

Most people use this on bare surfaces and carpets, but some have used it on low-pile carpets and still find it effective at removing dirt.

Since the dirt cup is small, it cannot replace a larger or standing wand because you will have to empty it a lot plus the motor is not powerful enough to deep clean thick carpets.

short power cord

Another problem consumers saw was the short power cord (only 15 feet long) and they found themselves clogging and disconnecting more than they had hoped.

It is a bit difficult to manually push the release button that separates the floor tool from the portable device according to some consumers.

Other cases

If you are over 5’9 you may find that the overall length does not exist as some consumers have discovered and report that they need to bend a bit to use this.

Pet owners are delighted with how this lightweight vacuum cleaner catches pet hair on floors and carpets.

Note, however, that you will need to clean the brush roll regularly as the strands of hair will wrap around the brush roll.

This is a must for all vacuum cleaners with a roller brush.

The option of using this as a portable device allows consumers to use it on their computers, tables, chairs, bathrooms, and various other places other than floors and is a money-saving tool because you don’t have to buy separate vacuums.

Consumers have generally been pleased with the performance of the 2-in-1 stick vacuum. But there are some issues with these vacuums, especially quality control issues.

Where can I buy this?

You can buy this 2-in-1 vacuum cleaner for less than $30. And you’ll be eligible for free 2-day shipping if you join Prime.

Another option is to buy directly from DirtDevil but it is not available at the moment.

to finish

This stick broom would be great for people who are looking for a lightweight vacuum cleaner that will work well on hardwood carpets and low piles.

It would be a great tool for homes with expensive floors like Hickory because of the brush on/off feature.

Bonus with this is that you can take off the stick and floor and turn this into a hand vacuum.

The power will be sufficient for carpets, bare floors, and low-pile carpets, but this will make it difficult to clean large areas because the dirt cup is very small and you will need to empty it often.

However, don’t expect the fit and finish of a higher brand like Hoover or Dyson since this is a vacant budget that will have some quality issues but it’s cheap, so I don’t think consumers would mind as long as it works.

If you live in a small house or need a gadget for quick snapshots and don’t mind the wire, this could be the product for you.
