When it comes to cordless vacuums, Dyson is king, but there have been brands that copy their design principles – Hoover, Shark and Bissell to name a few.
Now we have another product to join the bandwagon in the Dirt Devil Reach Max BD22510PC.
It has a similar design to the Dyson cordless vacuum – a lightweight stick-attached motor with interchangeable tools.
I wouldn’t blame them for using the same principle. Like it or not, it’s been a hit even with imitators popping up everywhere, it’s selling. And the fact that it’s a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Dyson V6 makes it a tempting option even if it doesn’t perform well.
But is this product worth a look?
Is it better than a hoover cruise or a shark rocket? The Shark Rocket has a wire, so it may not be the correct comparison of apples to apples, but let’s take a closer look.

What to expect from a Dyson replica?
In terms of product design, this product looks similar to the Dyson V6 and V8. It has the same location as the box, removable wand and interchangeable tools. The biggest difference will be the quality, excitement and strength.
Don’t expect this product to match Dyson’s cleaning prowess, but this one is much cheaper at just under $95.
But if you don’t mind the limitations, this could be a good alternative to Dyson which may not work as well but does a decent job.
Reviews so far have been positive. The suction power is adequate and the interchangeable tools make it versatile.
battery
It has a 24V lithium-ion battery that will run for about 20 minutes.
Dirt Devil did not specify whether or not the runtime includes automated attachments.
Said runtime is usually maximum with a stick vacuum cleaner, with non-motorized attachments and reduced with the motorized tool attached. So expect a runtime of about 15 minutes with the main floor tool attached.
tools
Except for the electric cleaning wand, this wand/portable comes with three interchangeable tools that will help you clean different areas of your home.
- slit tool
- carpet nozzle
- Drawer / Upholstery Tool
My favorite tool would be the drawer/upholstery tool because of the different configurations available at your disposal.
This tool rotates in both directions giving some flexibility as to how you want to clean stairs or upholstery.
It also has a “height visor” feature similar to the Eureka EasyClean 71B that allows you to clean vertically.
Areas that can be cleaned
You buy this product for the versatility it brings to the table. It has 3 interchangeable tools that will help you clean a lot of areas in your home.
I already mentioned what these tools are but what I didn’t mention are the tools they lack and the limitations.
First, it lacks a brush tool that would be handy when it comes to cleaning vents or blinds.
The brush tool will also be useful for cleaning the main floor and the interior of the car.
The slit tool is rather short so it lacks reach.
bare floor performance
This product is powerful enough to clean on bare floor surfaces. However, it does not have any brush on/off switch that could affect how it cleans larger bits of dirt like grain or cherous.
If you can overlook this limitation, this Dirt Devil is a great cheaper alternative to the Dyson. But like all the other affordable options, except for the Shark Rocket Duo, it doesn’t have a tool to efficiently clean large debris.
Cleaning small debris such as dust will not be a problem.
carpet performance
A brush roller will work best on the carpet because of the tougher bristles.
Stirring will be fine and that’s combined with decent suction, and you’ll have a vacuum that works well at least on low-pile carpets.
But don’t expect this to be deeply cleaned as it lacks strength. Again, if you need a little more excitement, Shark Rocket Duo Clean would be a better choice. It will cost nearly twice as much but has better excitement.
pet hair
One of the biggest problems with this product is its inability to handle pet hair – if there is too much of it. There are areas inside the container that could clog.
And the upholstery tool has some design issues where you can’t access the motorized brush because you can’t remove the brush brush.
You will need to pull it up using your fingers or remove the dirt container.
It also lacks the ability to deep clean.

What do consumers say?
Despite the design flaws I mentioned above, the majority of consumers liked how they tested this product and how it performed. The suction power seems to be adequate with more than enough for general cleaning tasks.
The uptime is quite favorable as consumers clock it in between 15-25 minutes with the automated addon which is quite impressive.
While some have said that this works well for cleaning pet hair, others have a different opinion. Cleaning performance per se is not the problem, product design is.
There are areas inside the litter box that can become clogged if there is a lot of pet hair to clean.
This will require you to remove it manually and affect performance, and accordingly, this may not be a good option if you have a lot of pets at home.
As expected with a product that uses this design, the dirt container is not large (only 700ml).
The biggest problem will be the placement of the container, which is difficult to remove. And if you have a lot of pets, you will need to use your fingers to remove bits and pieces of hair inside.
Another complaint is the lack of a charging stand or hook where you can store this. Like the Dyson V6, this product cannot stand alone.
Where can I buy this?
You can buy this from Amazon for less than $95 and it qualifies for free two-day shipping if you sign up for Prime.
Amazon also offers extended warranties of up to 3 years if you want even more peace of mind.
to finish
If you can’t afford a Dyson V8 or V6, this is a good option that costs just a shade under $95. According to reviews, it has good power and enough versatility to clean most homes.
But it may not be a good choice for pet owners because there are areas in this space where pet hair clogs and affects performance.
You will also need to remove the basket if you happen to brush a lot of pet hair or dust because it just won’t shed. The narrow path means that statically charged debris will stick to walls.
This is also an issue even with Dyson and other similarly designed products, so it’s not a big deal.
It also doesn’t have any brush on/off feature, so it will struggle to clean larger debris on an exposed floor. But to clean up smaller debris, that shouldn’t be a problem.
The brush roller design will work well on the carpet due to the stiff bristles but this will not replace the existing deep cleaning shaft.
The run time is very convenient 20-25 minutes, so it will work well for spot cleaning.
Overall, if you don’t mind the limitations, this is a good option if you don’t want to spend more than $250 on a vacuum cleaner.
