Autobot VX Pro Review

Posted on May 12, 2022May 17, 2022 by admin

In this review, we will be looking at the Autobot VX Max mini handheld vacuum cleaner.

One area that is growing in popularity is the small portable vacuum industry, with more and more brands joining the fray.

Autobot is one of them, and it has a unique feature unmatched with its competitors, which is the ability to clean floors with its extension and cleaning nozzle.

However, this alternative is one of the more expensive options, so my question before testing is, is it worth the price?

Lightweight, hand-held that can vacuum floors

Autobot VX Max Review

Even if Autobot calls this product portable, it is a small portable device at its core. The slim cylinder and small trash can are freebies. It has three power settings so users can increase the suction for specific tasks, perhaps its biggest advantage over other, cheaper alternatives. Another feature you might find useful is the extension wand and nozzle for cleaning floors, but it doesn’t have a motorized brush, so it’s limited to sweeping hard floors.

Introduction to Autobot VX Max Mini Handheld Vacuum Cleaner

Small handheld vacuums are growing in popularity as more and more brands have dipped their toes in this niche.

Autobot is the brand new coming into this increasingly crowded space.

It’s one of the more affordable options, and I’m curious if its performance justifies the high cost.

One of the selling points of the VX Max is the 20 kPa suction, and the suction tests were impressive (more details below) and exceeded Dyson Omni Glide Micro 1.5 kg.

Another is the extended runtime of up to 40 minutes (which has been exceeded).

While most small handheld vacuums are designed for cleaning above the floor, the Autobot VX Max can clean floors thanks to its two extension tubes and a floor nozzle.

So it is possible to use this for sweeping floors. But the question is, how practical is this task?

Let’s move on to the features and then I will share all the test results.

Lightweight cylinder design

Handheld Autobot without release latch

Like most portable mini vacuum cleaners, the Autobot VX Max features a lightweight frame (just 1 pound and 8.5 ounces).

This lightness makes this product extremely portable. It can be used anywhere inside your home or vehicle.

Unfortunately, one of the downsides of the portable mini vacuum cleaners is the lower dustbin capacity (only 200ml for the VX Pro).

interchangeable tools

This portable device comes with a set of tools for cleaning different areas inside the house.

Autobot Vacuum Cleaner What's in the box

  1. Autobot VX Pro Vacuum Cleaner
  2. collection tool
  3. bristled tool
  4. ground nozzle
  5. flexible hose
  6. slit tool
  7. Extension tube (2 pieces)
  8. adapter for extension tube
  9. Charger
  10. USB Type C cable

The most useful of these tools is the merge tool.

Autobot VX Pro combination tool

It combines brush and upholstery tool in one device.

I’ve tried other tools, but this works better with light dusting, better than the crevice tool.

Unfortunately, Autobot did not include an adapter to fit the extension stick.

Autobot Integrator (No converter included)

I think this is a mistake. We hope Autobot can remedy this error.

None of these attachments have a quick-release latch and rely solely on friction.

I don’t think it’s a big deal as Autobot seems to use high quality plastic resin, and there is little risk of these tools cracking over time.

Also, there is no bag attached, so I just stowed everything inside the box.

Autobot tools in a box

USB charger and cable

Autobot charger

Autobot VX Pro comes with a unique stand charger with a USB Type C cable.

Under the portable unit, three pins connect to the charger ports.

Autobot Charging Pins

It does not come with any plug, so you have to plug it into a USB port of your laptop or use a mobile phone plug to recharge.

I tried using my Samsung plug to charge, but it took over 5 hours.

Charging it on my laptop or power bank might be faster (I haven’t tested).

cleaning head

People can use this small portable device to clean floors thanks to the cleaning nozzle.

Unfortunately, it can only clean hard floors because it does not have a motorized brush.

Autobot VX Pro cleaning nozzle

It has a narrow entrance to catch debris but no visible seal behind it.

It also doesn’t have any gates, so it will struggle with large piles of dirt.

Thanks to the ball mechanism, the steering is decent, but the turning radius is absent, judging by the tests.

Trash and filtration

One of the drawbacks of the portable mini vacuum cleaner is the small dust box, and the Autobot VX Pro is no exception, with a capacity of only 200ml.

Autobot VX Max Dustbin

There are two layers of filtration inside. The first layer is the primary network filter.

Autobot primary mesh filter

Next is a cylindrical filter behind it. Both filters are washable, which is a good thing, but there are a few caveats.

The biggest is how easily the primary filter becomes clogged.

Autobot filter is clogged

You will notice that the many holes in the bottom are clogged with debris, and you will need to clean this out often or else you will risk degrading performance.

The cylinder filter gets dirty easily, and even if it is washable, I recommend getting an extra filter because it will take 24 hours to dry.

Autobot Dirty Filter

It didn’t pass the fog test as there were visible leaks at the base of the dustbin and exhaust, but it wasn’t as bad as the smaller, cheaper portable options like the Brigii M1.

Automated fog test

There are visible leaks, but they weren’t that bad, so filtering is pretty decent.

How much power does Autobot VX Pro have?

One aspect I was curious about with this portable device is the power. Autobot says it has 20 kPa, which is a lot for a small mobile device.

So I ran three tests to check suction levels and airflow.

  • direct water lift meter: 54
  • Y scale (unsealed): 10″
  • Y scale (sealed): 70″

Not as loud as full-size vacuum cleaners, but still impressive.

The unsealed result is higher than the Dyson Omni Glide and Micro 1.5KG.

And if you’ve watched my Video reviewYou know it’s the most accurate suction gauge out of the three because it has the fewest variables.

It represents the working suction of the vacuum and produces the most consistent results.

Air flow is another metric I measure with cordless vacuums.

Below are the results directly on the handheld portal.

  • Little: 21.51 cubic feet per minute
  • middle: 26.64 cubic feet per minute
  • the above: 31.37 cubic feet per minute

And the cleaning head.

  • Little: 14.98 cubic feet per minute
  • middle: 17.91 cubic feet per minute
  • the above: 21.94 cubic feet per minute

It’s a touch higher than Briggy M1 Mini HandheldIt is indeed a good performing option.

Consumers can increase the airflow for certain needs such as vacuuming floors, which is not possible with cheaper alternatives.

cleaning performance

Next, we’ll look at how Autobot VX Pro cleans different types of debris.

Experiments were carried out using the blender and the cleaning nozzle.

  • Total: 96.11%
  • Solid ground: 89.45%
  • Sand on the hard floor: 99.2%
  • carpet: 99.7%

Some notes with these results.

The first is that the hard floor tests are a bit skewed due to Quaker’s very low grade of oats.

I mentioned earlier that the VX Pro cleaning head did not have any gates, which affected capture.

Second, I only performed carpet tests in manual mode as this product does not have a motorized brush.

Hardwood Flooring Results (With Cleaning Head)

Autobot results for hard floors

  • Quaker Oats: 34%
  • Cafe floors: 98.8%
  • Quinoa: 100%
  • pet litter: 83.2%
  • sand: 99.2%

I wasn’t expecting much from the cleaning nozzle, so the results were a pleasant surprise.

However, I struggled with Quaker Oats, which was to be expected since there weren’t any portals.

Another struggle is pet droppings, but this shouldn’t be a shock as the nozzle relies solely on airflow.

It was very good at picking up sand, getting 99.2%, great results for a small handheld suction in a stick vacuum configuration.

Hard floor (manual mode)

Autobot results for portable hard floors

  • Quaker Oats: 100%
  • Cafe floors: 100%
  • Quinoa: 100%
  • pet litter: 99.6%

The main strength of the Autobot VX Max is how much better it can handle in a handheld position.

You can see in the results that she got 100% in three of the four tests.

Carpet (manual mode)

Hand-held Autobots carpet laying results

  • Quaker Oats: 98.8%
  • Cafe floors: 100%
  • Quinoa: 100%
  • pet litter: 100%

Results on carpet are similar to those of hardwood floors, with 100% in three of the four tests.

These experiments show how this small, portable device has enough suction to pick up even heavy debris such as pet droppings.

However, I noticed that the performance was insulting when I took these tests.

It turns out that the filter is clogging at an accelerated rate because the holes on it are too wide.

Heavy debris such as pet droppings not only clogs it, but also smaller particles like dust.

So you’ll need to wash it often to maintain performance.

Autobot primary filter clogged

How long does Autobot VX Pro run?

Autobot says the VX Pro will run for up to 40 minutes and tests that claim back up.

  • Little: 44:18 minutes
  • middle: 23:13 minutes
  • the above: 12 minutes

It’s bypassed the prompts at low and medium settings, which is a great sign.

Compared to the Bregi M1 (22:42 minutes), it more than doubled the range.

How noisy is Autobot VX Pro?

Next, we’ll look at noise levels, and this portable device is loud.

  • Little: 69.9 dB
  • middle: 74.9 dB
  • the above: 80 dB

Using it at the lowest setting will be enough for most tasks, so it’s not bad. But, for example, additional juice is needed, it will sound louder.

Does Autobot VX Pro offer excellent value?

While the Autobot VX Pro offers excellent cleaning performance, passing most tests, its current price gives me pause to recommend it fully.

They are priced at the same level as full-size handheld vacuums from trusted brands that offer similar if not better performance.

Here are 3 reasons why you should consider Autobot VX Pro

  1. It can vacuum floors: This model comes with an extension tube (two to be exact) and a floor nozzle, allowing it to clean floors.
  2. Above average dirt volume: The 0.2L capacity doubles the Prijee M1 and is bulky for a small portable vacuum cleaner.
  3. Excellent for small messes: It has enough suction and airflow to catch even heavy debris like pet droppings in case of spot cleaning.

Verdict: Excellent cleaning wreck but one flaw

There’s a lot to like about the Autobot VX Max, it works as long as a vacuum cleaner (over 40 minutes), has good airflow (for a small handheld device), and cleans well enough to warrant a thought.

One oversight, however, is the primary mesh filter as the holes were too wide, wide enough for bits of pet droppings to stick.

This buildup degrades performance and requires frequent washing, which can waste time.

I’ve tested it on heavy dusting tasks and found that dust can build up as well, but at a slower pace.

If you don’t mind washing the filter or the premium cost, it’s a good choice for small vacuuming tasks around the house.

Excellent portable mini option that can clean floors

  • Work environment – 95%
  • cleaning – 96.11%
  • Quality – 93%
  • Design – 94%
  • Values - 93%

  • TOTALE AVERAGE: 94%

summary

There is no doubt that Autobot VX Pro works, that is not the problem. It did well in most of my tests, except for Quaker oats and pet litter. But one problem that can be a deal breaker is a filter design flaw that clogs up too quickly. If you don’t mind cleaning this component, let’s say once a week, then the VX Pro should be a good choice for a quick cleaning. But if that’s not something you want to do, go for another option.
