The S6 360 is a compelling choice because it’s cheaper, but how does it compare to the more established S5 Max.

Introduction to 360 S6 and Roborock S5 Max
For years, manufacturers have been chasing established brands like Neato and iRobot. Roborock get closer, and S5 Max It is one of their best products so far.
360 is another brand trying to catch up, at least with Roborock in terms of popularity.
Like Roborock, it also uses a LIDAR sensor, so it navigates just like it does.
However, some 360 features have been omitted from the S6 limiting its capabilities, which I will explain below.
Roborock S5 Max: Best Robot Vacuum Cleaner/Mop
The S5 Max was one of the first to use a working electronic water tank!
Ensures water flows at a controlled rate, so the pad is wet enough to clean stains but not so much that it leaves a puddle.
Combine it with excellent cleaning dynamics, and you get a complete product that can clean and mop floors more evenly.
The Viomi V3 tried to outdo the S5 Max, but the fixed brush roller set wasn’t usable on the carpet.
Roborock also provides consumers with a more affordable high-end option with access to features such as an invisible wall and restricted areas, something that is not available at a similar price. Roomba 980.

360 S6: Cheaper but lacking in features
Judging by the specs, the 360 S6 looks promising. Like the Roborock, it has a LIDAR sensor that enables it to cross efficiently.
But I did find some issues with the S6 that hinder cleaning performance. The first problem is the lack of air flow. Topped out at 7.91 CFM at maximum setting, below Roomba 675 and 690.
The next issue is the lack of permits. This bot will only spin once by default, which is not enough.
Users are not allowed to modify the number of passes, except on the Region tab.
The lack of permits hampers the amount of debris that can be cleaned.
So you’ll have to run it the second and third time manually to match what the S5 Max can do in one run of three passes.

Similarities Between 360 S6 and Roborock S5 Max
Now let’s take a look at how the 360 S6 and Roborock S5 Max are similar, and there’s a lot more.
1. LIDAR Navigation System
Both of these robots use a LIDAR (or laser distance sensor) for navigation and location tracking.
Expect efficiency from these bots because LIDAR is very accurate. Neither of these options had trouble navigating narrow quarters and did not stumble.
But you will have to remove any small toys, rugs, and wires to make it bigger.
2. Live Maps
Thanks to LIDAR, users will enjoy live map views. You can see where the bot is while it is running in real time. It also provides information about operating time and region.
The apps are very useful if you want to measure the size of your house.
3. Round frame
Both of these robots have round frames. One potential issue with having one like this is the inability to clean everything at the edges (more on that below).
4. HEPA filtration
The 360 S6 and Roborock S5 Max both have washable HEPA filters.
So each can sift fine dust and prevent it from blowing exhaust. Remember that you will need to replace these filters every three to four months.
5. Combo brush
Another similarity is the combo brush. Both options use a combination of a coarse and rubbery blade, which is what I see on many robot vacuums these days.
One difference is that the 360 has a fixed brush roll without any up and down manipulation.
The S5 Max brush has not been fixed but has some leeway to adjust to the height of the surface being cleaned.
Differences between 360 S6 and Roborock S5 Max
Next, we’ll look at how these bots differ, most of which are unclear.
1. Side brush
The 360 S6 has two side brushes, while the Roborock S5 Max uses only one.
Two might look good on paper, but I’m not a huge fan. The S6 brush scattered more debris during tests than the S5 Max to a larger radius.
It’s not a big deal to clean up dust, but for large debris like pet droppings, it can make a bigger mess.
While both litter boxes are top-loaded, the 360 S6 offers direct access. Push a lever, and you’ll walk out. With the S5 Max, you’ll have to open an overhead door before arriving.
The S5 Max also has a slightly larger 0.46L dust container versus the 0.4L volume for the S6 360.
However, the S6 trash can is easy to empty with its door-mount design. It has more headroom than the front door design of the S5 Max, being more narrow.
The most important difference and perhaps a sticking point for some is accuracy. By default, the S5 Max will rotate around the area twice.
You can add an additional pass through the app for more thorough cleaning.
By comparison, the S6 360 only does it once. Users will not have the option to modify the number of passes, except on the Region tab, which is impractical.
4. Water tank
The Roborock S5 Max It was one of the first robots with a fully functional electronic water tank.
I’ve tested it extensively and found it to be very water efficient.
It dispenses just the right amount, keeping the pad moist without soaking it. Users also have the option to adjust the water flow through the app.
360 S6 only lacks this feature 80ml gravity tank. But even with the electronic tank, the scan was decent. However, it left a wetter surface with visible tire marks.
5. Invisible wall
Another omission in the 360 app is the invisible wall.
While it does contain restricted areas, this is not enough. An invisible wall allows users to draw diagonal lines, providing more flexibility in deciding which areas to block.
6. Number of maps
360 S6 Can Save Up to 10 map levels Opposite S5 Max 4.
But the S5 Max has a much more intuitive flow with a step-by-step guide for creating a new map.
360 does not offer this feature. You will have to save it manually, or overwrite it.
These robot spaces will start navigating by going around the edges before moving to the middle, making straight, back, and forward passes.
However, the S5 Max does more passes and repeats the process (up to) three times. The 360 S6 It will only go once by default – it won’t be exact.
Both will not scratch furniture and are great in tight spaces. Remember to clean any wires or small objects on the floor that could get in the way of the robot.
App Features for 360 S6 and Roborock S5 Max
These blanks come with smartphone apps that unlock all the features.
S5 Max is compatible with Roborock and Xiaomi Home app. I prefer the latter option because it has a room naming feature that can be used with Alexa and Google Assistant.
The S6 is compatible with the 360 app, and we’ll compare each feature.
Both apps have live maps with real-time data about the bot’s location, area size, battery life, and more.
I like that you can zoom in on the map up close. This will help with accuracy when placing invisible walls and restricted areas on the map.
Roborock easily wins this round because it has invisible walls and restricted areas.
Both are necessary because not all areas in your home are blockable with a box or rectangle. Some areas will require a diagonal line.
360, for some reason, didn’t add the invisible wall in the S6 version of the app.
It limits usability, and 360 should consider adding this feature to compete with Roborock.
360 has the advantage here: it can save up to 10 map levels.
One caveat is that you will have to save it manually after you turn it on in each of the major areas of your home. There is no detailed guide.
It also cannot detect the map, so you will have to select the correct map before the cleaning cycle.
Xiaomi and Roborock app can save up to 4 map levels.
But it’s more user-friendly with a quick start to guide you through the process. It also detects the correct map with an initial scan, so there is no need to select the correct map when navigating between floors.
Selective room cleaning
Only Roborock has this feature. If you want to name the rooms, go to the Xiaomi app because it has the option to name the room.
It’s usable with Alexa, which is good news for those who prefer to use voice.
360 does not have this feature, and users will have no choice but to use the area tab to clean up a specific area.
Unlimited scheduling is possible for both apps, which is a big plus. You’ll have the option to select weekdays, weekends, or a specific day of the week, so it has a lot of flexibility.
This tab will show when components such as the filter and brush are changed. There is not much difference between the two.
Air Flow Comparison
I used an anemometer to measure the airflow in the main brush. Here are the results for both.
S5 Max has more airflow across all power settings With up to 17.74 feet per minute.
And here’s the clincher – it has more power at its lowest setting versus the 360 S6 at its highest power setting.
The S6’s low airflow was a disappointment to me, With only 7.91 feet per minute In performance mode (or maximum).
I was hoping it would have at least 15 CFM, which is an adequate number for a robot vacuum at this price point.
But its airflow is less than that of the Roomba 675 and 690.
Cleaning performance comparison: 360 S6 vs Roborock S5 Max
First, here are the scores from both robots.
Roborock S5 Max is the best cleaning robot based on the above results. It picked up more debris in our surface and deep cleaning tests.
Roborock It was better because of its accuracy – it picks up more dirt as it goes around the area more. While 360 only rotates once.
Pair it with low airflow, and you won’t be making a clean scroll like the S5 Max.
Also, the S5 Max has more usable power on lower settings. Even in silent mode, I left less dirt on this area under the dustbin versus the S6, which I wouldn’t recommend using for vacuuming.
Which is better on hard floors?
Without use, the S5 Max, with its one side brushing and higher airflow, was a near-perfect result.
The Roborock’s single-sided brush design won’t scatter as much dirt and the powerful airflow enables it to make clean passes, while the S6 360’s dual-sided brush design pushes dirt into a wider area.
The S5 Max was also better in the sand test in the hard floor test, capture 99.8% Opposite S6’s 93.7%.
Edge cleaning comparison
There is not much difference between the 360 S6 and the Roborock S5 Max with the edge cleaning. I would say a slight advantage to the S5 Max because it picked up quite a bit more.

Both got the right amount, but you can see traces of coffee on the edges.
The round frame hinders how much dirt these robots can pick up.
Hair wrap comparison
I distributed one gram of strands of human hair five and seven inches long to check how well these robots could resist tangling.
The S5 Max is better with 5-inch hair with nothing wrapped up on the brush.
But more hair coiled onto the brush after the seven-inch test.
In comparison, the 360 S6 didn’t perform well, with more hairs on the brush after both tests.
Which is better on the carpet?
Based on the results, the S5 Max performs better on carpets with both Surface and Deep Cleaning tests.
Passes were cleaner thanks to the higher airflow.
Her ability to make more passes also helped her get better results.
In deep cleaning tests, the S5 Max does better after a single run, picking up average 84.75% Opposite 360 S6’s 62.15%.
As an experiment, I tried turning on the S6 a second and third time to see how much it would pick up.
After the second round, it picked up 78.5%And after three runs, it was like that up to 88.9%Which Good rumba.
The bad news is that you will have to manually run the bot twice to achieve this result.
An alternative solution is to enable the Clean Times feature in the map.
Can the 360 S6 and Roborock S5 Max clean up large debris?
These robots have enough room to clean up large debris such as chiaros and fruit rings.
While both robotic vacuums can mop, the S5 Max is a step up from the S6 360 with its larger electronic water tank.
This feature alone enables the S5 Max to mop a larger area because the electronic tank is accurate in distributing water.
Releases just enough to keep the pad wet but not soaked. So it leaves an almost dry surface afterwards.
The 360 S6 only has a gravity water tank, but it’s better than the Roborock S6 Pure leaving less sticky residue, but tire marks are visible.
S5 Max will be the best choice for those who have black tiles.
The Roborock is better in this category thanks to its 5200mAh Li-ion battery. S5 Max can run for up to 180 minutes In full shipment.
In contrast, the S6 360 uses a smaller 3,200mAh lithium-ion battery, so the maximum it can reach is 120 minutes onlybut you will have to use the lowest setting to make this possible.
Unfortunately, the S6’s lowest setting can’t be used for vacuuming. Only the middle and max.
These robot vacuums will require some maintenance to run at their best for years to come.
Below is a list of components that need to be cleaned or replaced.
- main brush: A basic brush is one of the most misused components. Things like hair and dust will build up, and it’s essential to keep them clean, so the engine doesn’t burn out prematurely.
- Side brush: Besides the main brush, the side brush is another abused component. The main cause is the hair being wrapped around the base, causing unnecessary friction and wear on the engine. Use a Philips screwdriver to remove the latch and remove any buildup of hair.
- Sensors: There are many sensors around the robot to avoid obstacles and not fall from the stairs. One of the most important of these is the drop sensors underneath. Use a clean, dry microfiber towel to wipe these parts at least once or twice a month.
- Lidar: Use a vacuum cleaner to clean any debris inside the LIDAR sensor. Avoid using a sharp object to remove it as it may damage it.
- Dustbin and filter: Empty the trash after each cleaning cycle to prevent buildup. The HEPA filter is washable, but my favorite cleaning method is a handheld tool with a brush attachment to remove dust built up inside the folds.
Availability of spare parts
You can buy 360 and Roborock components from Amazon. Parts like the filter, side brush, and main brush are available from Amazon.
The good news is that there are many options for both 360 and Roborock, with many sellers offering their products – prices will be competitive.
Unfortunately, hard-to-find components outside the brush and filter will be even more difficult to get.
If a part like the battery or the side brush motor has broken, you can try looking for it on AliExpress and hopefully you’ll find something there.

I wanted to recommend the S6 360 because it’s less expensive, but I have some reservations after testing it out.
The price difference does not justify the advantages that the S5 Max brings to the table.
It has more usable power in lower settings and better convenience features like setting virtual walls.
Roborock is also more accurate, with the option to run with three passes, which is not possible with the 360 S6.
The only advantage I see with the 360 is that more maps are provided – up to 10. But realistically, ten is an exaggeration, and the disadvantages outweigh the cheaper cost.

Verdict: Roborock is still better
While the S6 360 is a great option due to its low cost, the S5 Max is still the better product.
Higher airflow will result in cleaner passages, and leave less residue thanks to the electronic water tank.
The 360 S6 deep cleans at a higher rate, but you’ll have to run it manually three times.
It’d be even closer if 360 could address the app’s lack of features with future rollouts. But as it stands, the S5 Max is the better option.
